Dexter: Early Cuts, is an animated web series which precedes the current narrative of the show and revolves around Dexter hunting down the three victims that he mentions in the sixth episode of season 1, 'Return to Sender'. Each victim has their own story. Michael C. Hall reprises his role as the voice of Dexter.

When it comes to blu-rays, in my mind there are two reasons to purchase: one, because it comes in a cool package with lots of extras; or two, because the picture and audio have been cleaned up and restored beyond anything previously available.
So Dexter season seven will be out on DVD and blu-ray next week - perfect timing in case you need to catch up before the eighth and final season starts on June 30th. I got a peek at the set before the release and frankly, it doesn't fit in with my two above conditions.
For starters, Dexter is new. There is nothing to be enhanced or cleaned up. Sure, it looks just a touch more crisp than the Showtime HD channel, but not much. So it looks great... it just doesn't really look noticeably better than the HD broadcast.
Then there are the extras. There aren't any.

Fans of Showtime’s highly successful Dexter have been waiting patiently (possibly with the aid of some Etorphine?) for September 30. That’s when Season 7 of the show about a serial killer with a moral compass that’s well-calibrated will air its first episode, hopefully resolving the shocking cliffhanger at the end of Season 6. (Semi-Spoiler Alert: It was a Big cliffhanger.) In the meantime, the patience of those fans has been rewarded with a new season and new episodes of Dexter: Early Cuts, the animated web series that seeks to fill in the gaps in Dexter’s backstory. Season 1 of Early Cuts dealt with the titular serial killer’s relationship with his father, while Season 2 took us back to his bloody college years. Season 3, titled All in the Family, focuses on Dexter’s relationship with his sister Deborah, his prey, and possibly but probably not a Y2K virus at a...

Dexter Morgan: America’s Serial Killing Sweetheart
Since it’s premiere in December 2007, the hit Showtime series Dexter has been immensely popular - and immensely controversial. I have no desire to debate the merits and drawbacks of viewers identifying with or even liking a character who is, in fact, a serial killer - but I feel I must address why Dexter and his Dark Passenger are so captivating to so many.
Many of the greatest characters of all time have been evil, murderous and generally horrific people. Though they may be fascinating, Hannibal Lecter and the Wicked Witch of the West are not the most relatable characters out there, and the same holds true for most villains in popular culture. Dexter however, minus the occasional slicing and dicing of evildoers, is very relatable to anybody who has ever felt less than comfortable in society. We are all guilty of faking...

Before the fifth season of Dexter revs up again over on Showtime this Fall, you'll have the late summer to catch up and re-visit the fourth season. No exact date is set yet, but the cable network posted via their Twitter page that the DVD/Blu-Ray boxed set of Dexter season four will be available this August. The latest season pitted Miami's best blood spatter analyst and newly-married serial killer up against the Trinity Killer (guest star John Lithgow), a methodical murderer that's been on the loose for over three decades. If you missed the season finale video interviews, click here for Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow's chat; click here for producer Clyde Phillips thoughts. Watch the first few episodes of the animated web-series prequel Dexter: Early Cuts right...
