I liked the first two
gurumaggie29 July 2022
This film is the weakest of the trilogy, the first was really good and had a fresh take on women as cops victims etc.

The second stretched reality a bit, this film has good intentions but the car chase looked like wacky races, the natives were cardboard cutouts and the bad cops fat ugly and lazy, the good cop is a hunky model, some of the killings were laughable and the music seems to have been written for something else and let's face miss Marple would have had them clapped in irons by 3pm for afternoon tea.

Luisana Lopitalo ( forgive spelling) kicks ass and does a good job but she's drowning in a mediocre script. In short no I don't recommend it, the first two are good.

OK for being from Argentina and showing nice landscapes

OK movie to pass the time. Credits for being from Argentina and showing nice landscapes, but yeah, story is lacking and acting is mediocre. Passes the time though.

Cant finish it
gabrieltherriengt31 July 2022
Im only 30 minutes in and its enough. The scenes transitions makes no sense, its all over the place but going nowhere at the same time. Music is weird and cheap, its just overall confusing. I cant judge the whole movie but 30 minutes was enough to call it quits.

And the crap just keeps coming...

Another unviewable movie coming from Netflix.

You may wonder what it takes to get fired as person responsible for content at Netflix. Because one after the other shipwreck is launched.

horrible
smoke031 July 2022
Dissonant, discordant, disjointed noises that vary between neo spaghetti western and '60's outer space music overlaying any dialog, which isn't too much of a problem since the dialog is stilted and amateurish anyway.

Too many plot holes and improbable situations coupled with a childish attempt at being a message movie about native south americans. I don't want to know who scored this or wrote this or acted in this, aside from the two young actors playing the rich kids, who earned my grudging rating of two stars, everyone and everything was abysmal from start to finish.

Exactly what the other reviewer said.
Casegal-823-98743827 July 2022
Netflix use to be good but all these shows they add either have horrible actors, the endings are like why did I just watch that. This movie is all over the place. Will not recommend.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
linda-plant28 August 2022
I gave it 30 minutes to gauge the characters. The action was like watching paint dry, and the whole film was just a pointless exercise ! I fast forward to 5 minutes from the end, and clearly it was a predictable ending, so didn't need to watch the rest Lol !!!

Kind of entertaining, wouldn't recommend it
alesssssandro29 July 2022
First thing first I haven't seen the other two movies of the series, but I read about their plot and they didn't seem that much linked. Overall the movie is entertaining even if without rhyme or reason.

Soundtracks are the best ingredient of this movie for sure.

Honorable mention goes to Aquiles Casabella aka Cruz Carreras: he made interesting and appealing all the scenes where he appears thanks to his acting skills.

So woke
nicolasgervais29 July 2022
There's 10 minutes in the movie where it's a subplot about native Americans and it has nothing to do with the rest of the movie. What the hell. That makes zero sense.

Disturbed
kosmasp28 July 2022
First things first: it has been a minute since I saw the first movie that starred the character of Pipa. It still remains the best of the three movies that have been made. And I never even thought back then that it would become a lose trilogy of sorts. Pipa wouldn't have thought so herself, so there is that.

Now I do more than respect any other opinion and I say this knowing that I will probably get more thumbs down reactions than "helpful" ones. But I still want to point out what this is not: a tv show! Now if you don't like the movie, that is as I have said many times, more than understandable. We all have different tastes. Just do not confuse what this is, with what you think it is. Also be honest enough if you either didn't watch it through or not at all.

That aside and either assuming you have seen the other two movies or do not really care that much, I can tell you that you do not have to have seen them. It would give you a more nuanced look at the backstory of our main character (Pipa - though it had a different title when I started it on Netflix yesterday). She was in the police force - and that is why when something happens in this movie ... well she thought she was out and they drew her back in (no pun intended - you may recognize that quote from another movie - not making connections).

The movie is making political but also social statements. Some things are a bit cliche (especially when it comes to the whole poor vs. Rich thing), but it works in the realm of the story and movie. Well played and acted, this may have flaws, but is overall a decent movie - if you suspend your disbelief enough that is.

Good addition to the series
rainysng99-835-32860611 August 2023
I do not understand the reviews loving the first two in the series, but disliking this third installment. I can only speculate on possibilities, a dominant number of male viewers finding insufficient male heroes in this one, not enough sex, or possibly a dislike of indigenous themes threaded into the plot.

They are all three just crime thriller movies, above average, with the same flaws often found in the genre (predictable twists, implausible action scenes and character motivations etc), but still entertaining despite their flaws, along with a great actress playing an engaging main character.

Recurrence
Tweekums31 January 2023
In this, the third film to be centred on Manuela 'Pipa' Pelari we find her retired from the police and living with her aunt and son in a remote corner of Argentina. She thought that she had left the troubles and dangers of her previous life behind but when a young woman is found dead she finds herself dragged in. The police are more than willing to say it was just a tragic accident and the certainly don't want to bother the wealthy family who had hired the girl as a waitress for a party the night before. Pipa's questioning of the official line will expose certain secrets and put her and her family in danger.

I thought this film was solid enough. It may be the third film in a series but the story is self-contained so it doesn't matter if you haven't seen the previous ones. The story doesn't provide too many surprises but there are plenty of tense scenes. It may be set in the modern day but many of the characters and their motives could have been transplanted from a western. The acting is fine; Luisana Lopilato is particularly good as Pipa. The setting is great with some really spectacular scenery that adds to the film's western feel. A sub-plot involving the mistreatment of the native population does seem a little forced and the choice of music doesn't quite match the genre. Overall I'd say this was a decent enough film; not a must see but still fairly enjoyable.

These comments are based on watching the film in Spanish with English subtitles.

Tedious....
s327616931 July 2022
I managed about half of Pipa before I simply lost interest.

This film plods along, seemingly more concerned with a violence against women theme, than actually telling an engaging story. Regrettably, this is all too common these days, where social constructs, that reflect a prevailing ideology, take the place of engrossing entertainment.

All in all, I found Pipa has solid production values and decent acting but ultimately it comes across as one dimensional and as a result, rather tedious......

Could not get into it whatsoever (and later found out why)
paul-allaer10 August 2022
As "Recurrence" (2022 release from Argentina; 115 min.; original title: "Pipa") opens, a woman is found dead. We then go to "A Few Hours Earlier", and we get to know a rich family in a remote rural area of Argentina. There is a big party at the family mansion, and one of the staff people, Samanta, is the woman found dead some hours later... What exactly happened here? At this point we are 10 minutes into the movie.

Couple of comments: this is the latest from Argentinean writer-director Alejandro Montiel ("Intuition"). Here he intends to bring a crime thriller. It's not at all clear for quite a while that the key character is a woman named Manuela, apparently an erstwhile cop. I kept waiting for things to pick up, and kept waiting, and waiting... I could not get into it whatsoever and gave up an hour into the movie, sorry. It wasn't until afterward, when I read up on this movie, that I realized that "Recurrence" is a sequel of sorts to a prior movie (20178s "Perdida", or "Loss") starring that same character Manuela (and played by the same actress, Luisana Lopilato). Even though "Recurrence" is supposed to be a stand-alone film, it's pretty clear to me that having seen "Perdida" would've answered a lot of questions I had about the lead character, and would also have given me a much better context within which to appreciate "Recurrence".

"Recurrence" recently premiered on Netflix, where it was "suggested" to me based on my viewing habits. Typically I trust these suggestions quite a bit, but in this instance, I wish I was aware that "Recurrence" comes after "Loss" and "Loss" (also on Netflix) should've been recommended to me before "Recurrence". Viewer beware!

Bad acting
rbsgmxzx2 August 2022
Extremely amateurish acting, boring story, predictable ending. It feels like they wanted to do kind of an American thriller, with an Argentinian touch = very bad results. Not worth the time to see it.

What did I just watch.
Otte126 August 2022
This is a skip. The movie skips from scene to scene without any cohesion. There are about 7 distinct scenes in the first 12 minutes without any explanation of the scene and why we are there....and the movie goes downhill. Dialogue is straight out of a high school(junior high) play.

May not finish watching it
starynightst6 August 2022
The back ground noise (music?) Is so annoying I'm not sure I can even finish this . It's so slow moving anyway I don't think I'll be missing much .

The musical score is just as important to a movie as the plot and the acting . Look what it did for the movie jaws.

Enjoyable but you need to see the other two films in the series
raebrian28 July 2022
I enjoyed this film but I can understand why some think it wasn't good, probably because they haven't seen the previous two films in the series. The first one is definitely the best of them but this one had a sort of noir vibe to it that is true to all of the films. Honestly at this point these foreign films and TV shows are the only thing that makes Netflix worth keeping. With Netflix being flooded with awful B and C rate Bruce Willis films and films with Liam Nesson playing the same roll over and over I think I'll take a film like Pipa over that stuff any day of the week.
