No storyline and essentially just non-stop gunfights...

I had never heard about this 2021 Chinese action sci-fi movie titled "The Underground War" prior to sitting down to watch it. So aside from it being an Asian action sci-fi movie, then I had no idea what I was getting into here. But of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance and watch it.

The storyline in "The Underground War" was weak, so very, very weak, almost to the point where it was non-existing. The Earth is apparently ravaged and left inhabitable, and thus forcing people to live underground. And that was essentially it, everything else in the movie was just questionable gunfights in well-lit subterranean tunnels.

And if the action sequences had been thoroughly enjoyable, then perhaps director Zhang Zhen's 2021 movie "The Underground War" would have been more enjoyable. But it was not, and it was quite a boring ordeal to sit through the movie, despite of it only running at 75 minutes.

I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, nor were I particularly impressed with what I witnessed on the screen. But it wasn't the fault of the actors and actresses, because they virtually had nothing to work with in terms of storyline, characters or dialogue; it was all just pointless gunfights.

Visually then "The Underground War" was okay. Again, nothing spectacular, but it was adequate enough effects throughout the movie. Not that it did any wonders to lift up the overall enjoyment of the movie.

My rating of "The Underground War" lands on a three out of ten stars.
