This is a tour-de-force short documentary about how HIV has affected one NYC native. Even though it is a student film, it is remarkably well-done, with great attention to lighting, sound and frame composition. Through voice-over with Randy Baron, the principal, the director, Alex Camelieri, manages to convey the personal losses suffered by Randy Baron since finding out that not only he, but most of his closest friends, were infected with the HIV virus in the mid-1980s. Through an interview with two of Randy's closest friends, and with an interview with his partner, Alex is able to display the inner strengths that enabled Randy to overcome the personal losses and, in some respects, come to peace with himself as a survivor.
