Scrambled Eggs Are Chicken Abortions
nebohr16 November 2021
We chuckled a few times. We were slightly amused at times. The left coast audience seemed eager to laugh at anything, maybe to get their minds off their terrible conditions. This is not a comedian we would ever pay to see.

Despite the negative reviews on here I found it enjoyable to watch.
deloudelouvain20 January 2022
I think the reviews here are a bit harsh. The show was better than what I read here. I didn't like everything, and started to have serious doubts when he began to rant about only vaccinated people could attend his show, but in all fairness, and that even if I totally disagree with some of his viewpoints, I had some good laughs afterwards. Mostly because of his sarcastic jokes, which in my humble opinion are always the best, but even with the inevitable racism jokes that have to be told by black comedians. I'm always waiting for those jokes, and they are most of the time spot on and funny, but let just say they are very predictable when you are watching a black comedian. I totally get it that they want to joke about it, I'm just waiting to see one black comedian that won't do any jokes about that. That said, Shame The Devil isn't that bad at all, that is if you get sarcasm.

Che is better than this special shows.
laptopmenace30 November 2021
I like che, but it's not his best work. I felt like he just hit all the usual pandering woke talking points. Maybe if he didn't pause as much in between laughing at his own jokes he could have squeezed in some better material. If you're looking for a progressive comic he's probably one of the better ones, but that's not saying much. Spending to much time at snl clearly turns funny people into zombies.

Michael Che lays his heart on the line In vulnerability.
DeadHeadCycler17 November 2021
The bravest performance of a come back after five years I have ever seen. After seeing Carline on stage in person five times I will put Michael Che there. Michael is seamless and heartfelt with delivery of the greats I have watched him on SNL but this was a true delight.

Sincerely, John Fitzgerald Bruce.

Alright

Overall the special was just okay, I definitely had a few good laughs while watching it so I don't think it was bad, but the laughs were pretty spaced out. If you're bored and need something to watch I guess it's worth it once, but I definitely wouldn't pay to see him live.

Mature Audiences Only
RottinApple197520 November 2021
It started off very slowly and I was wondering when Che would start telling jokes. And then it reached stratospheric levels. I laughed for most of the show. If you prefer low-brow, slip and fall jokes, genital jokes this special isn't for you.

Comedy is special in the fact that you want someone else to say the stuff you can't say out loud or publicly. If you get easily offended, this special isn't for you. Some of his jokes, you'll have to watch/listen again to get the meaning. You laugh and think at the same time, which is his brand of humor. It's not for everyone.

Not very funny.
sukumar-8399722 November 2021
Che is not funny on SNL. And this show is even less funnier. He laughs at his own wisdom after every couple of words he utters. Gets old. Nothing imaginative about the material. There are lot less painful ways to waste an hour.

Love this dude
theknownames19 November 2021
Am thrilled to find a standup special now ! We , of course , my C love his series ( damn that Micheal Che) , and he is such a sweet and funny guy. We look forward to his antics on snl news , we continue to be happily surprised to find anything he has a hand in . As he branches out and we get to see more of him ( and not just enjoy all the jokes he doesn't really get credit for) his humor is evolved and current. May not be for everyone, and anytime he manages to cause discomfort, that's a win ! It's necessary!!

Heavy on Self Indulgence and light on Jokes.
bokakee30 November 2021
I can laugh at most viewpoints and perspectives but the jokes have to come first. This isn't exactly a woke special, but it feels like it's in the same vain. Too many comedians are trying to speak truth and sneak in jokes here and there. I think it's better if the truth you wish to speak is snuck in between the jokes. I was rooting for him but after the halfway mark I realized he wasn't setting anything good up, this is just the special. Turned it off after 30 minutes.

REAL Comedy
oliviasuec19 November 2021
This definitely isn't your average comedy special, and I almost switched to something else. I'm happy I didn't. This was heartfelt, personal, intelligent and of course it was funny. It's easy to be funny screaming and throwing zingers but it's also something we've seen a zillion times before.

I always give him a fair chance...
b4blue16 November 2021
... but it might be that he only caters to a certain crowd. Jokes are worse than when up and coming comedians try their material at open mic nights. There is a lot of Che swagger, so that might work for people. I think my best guess is that people think he is funny because of his work at SNL, so it's more of a nostalgia moment. Like when you see some musician, that you loved back in the day, but now he is a shadow of former self but you kinda dig the moment anyway. Maybe I'm too rough on him, cause I'm spoiled by all the great comedians out there, so the bar is really high. What do you think?

Hard hitting with chilllllll
TheOneThatYouWanted9 March 2022
He is low-key but it works. He almost tries to keep the jokes from getting too out of hand, which goes against the logic of a comedian. And his subject matter is pretty much what Dave Chappelle hits on. Long story short, I will be watching more of his stuff.

More woke garbage on Netlfix
nlkroon22 November 2021
This is not funny, not at all!

The real Devils are indeed the Woke people, if you think this is funny in any way then there is something wrong with you.

This is all part off a hate campaign just like the latest season of YOU.

Disgusting!

Was waiting for this after "Michael Che matters". Glad to say, he didn't disappoint
agnivunoff2 December 2021
Ok, I'll be honest. My initial rating was 9/10 as the ending isn't done well but then I saw that rating is way too low for it's calibre so I bumped it up to 10.

I love Michael che on SNL. Also, found his first stand-up pretty entertaining, so I understood a lot of jokes because I am acquainted with his delivery style. For new audience, it might appear a bit strange as the delivery is super dry, there is no pretence whatsoever. Therefore, I recommend seeing this one after his first stand-up.

Overall, a great time. Better than many stand-ups I have seen in recent times.

(He will end up getting lower ratings because he punches both sides, so many will be offended.)

Making fun of wholeness while being woke
nickijjohnson-1695521 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I fail to understand why it's so hard for comedians to not talk politics. Maybe this dude needs to get a woman or have some kids cause his political "jokes" were awkward and "r word" against pale skin people. Is that worded better IMBD since you didn't post my first review? God forbid we say anything is "r word" against pale skin people even though a lot of his show was. While on the subject its interesting that he can get away with saying the other "r word". I guess when you have certain politics (which for SNL cast its pretty obvious what those politics are since they cant keep them out of their crap skits to save their lives) you can get away with a lot. All and all Michael Che matters was a decent special this was awkward, dull and not very funny.

Boring
jarfunkz-885-835416 February 2022
Not entertaining; Not Funny.

I tried to watch it three times. I fell asleep twice, both on my days off, in the early afternoon. I know he could do better.

I feel like Che may owe a refund to those who attended.

Shame the bad comedian
backup-5036227 April 2022
He's legit repeating jokes from like 10 years ago, like the "white woman holding an f the police sign" - who he now pretends he saw at a BLM march but he told the same joke at Gotham in like 2013. Then he does his entire "porn" routine that he already did in his previous Netflix special.

Great, getting a new Netflix special and just repeating the same jokes from the previous special, which themselves he's been telling for a decade. Obviously I don't expect any integrity from Netflix but you're supposed to have some as a person, right? As an overly-confident "comedian" with nothing to back that confidence up with.

That, along with him just sitting on a chair, doing low-energy speeches with no comedic value, bringing the most bland, generic, overdone talking points (Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Covid) - makes this a really disappointing special.

Especially knowing he used to be funny 10 years ago, when those jokes he's still doing were new.

This is not funny.

Not at all, just as funny as snl which is not.

The whole I am black so I can say things about the other races is not funny anymore, is low fruit comedy, so no.

This is a hard pass.

Gotta be vaxxed to get his jokes, according to himself
pdjoynt17 November 2021
I stopped right when he went into his part in the divide of our people. Maybe he was joking, but I don't support any of this b.s. Maybe it's funny to the people who want to follow orders regardless if those orders are immoral.

Wow! This was really painful, and I liked Michel Che Matters. It felt like pandering for sure, which he even admits at one point. Punchlines you might hear in a joke book. Better off watching someone else.

Not very good
djmykool3 July 2022
"You've gotta be vaxxed to get the jokes" ?!

Wtf?

I liked the first special, not this one.

Very slow paced, too many self laughs.

Even the jokes are not too good.

Couldn't watched til the end.

Sigh...
EricBombardier18 January 2022
This special unfortunately feels flat with it's low energy. The jokes are mild and the delivery feels pretty sleepy. Many jokes are past their epoch and most of the jokes will give you a chuckle at best. There is an attempt at being political but, surprisingly enough coming from Michael Che, the political content is not very well deeply explored and basically consist of superficial analysis about white racism, Donald Trump, Democrats and wokeness. Also jokes about Caitlyn Jenner? Geeeeez... In my opinion, this might be funny if you are a little desperate to laugh, which is what it felt like coming from the audience.

I'll still give a 5 stars rating since he hasn't done a special in many years and I like the guy.

First time viewer. Not very funny at all.

Warning: Spoilers
So I found his Netflix Special listed under "Raunchy Comedies". I'm not entirely sure what's so raunchy about his routine. He seems to drone on and laugh at his own jokes, talks about a BLM riot having only white women attending. Okay, that's kinda funny, for a giggle. Then onto R Kelly and talking about the 15 year old girl he raped. I just stopped right here, because he's just not that funny. Nothing seems to tie anything together, other than "You can be anything you want to be....in San Francisco" at the beginning of the show - but that routine got tired quickly.

It's a different world out there when you're literally handed jokes from the writers on SNL, and then going out there and writing them yourself. Why he got a Netflix special is beyond me - it's an hour of him sitting there, slow walking through mediocre jokes. I just about fell asleep.
