For the first time ever, a father-and-son duo served as hosts of the Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast, and fans clearly liked what they saw. Eugene Levy and Dan Levy received an “A” grade from the vast majority of Emmys viewers who voted in Gold Derby’s overnight poll. In fact, a whopping 68% of respondents called them “brilliant from start to finish” — not too shabby! Here are the rest of the poll results:

Update, with video: Emmys co-hosts Eugene Levy and son Dan Levy, the award-winning stars of Schitt’s Creek, got tonight’s ceremony off to a gentle but no less funny start tonight, with the elder Levy working in no fewer than two jokes aimed at his old Sctv pal Martin Short.

When Dan Levy told the audience that his last name is pronounced “Leh-vee” and not “Lee-vee,” Eugene said, if the opening monologue goes south “my name is pronounced Martin Short.” At the end of the monologue, Eugene introduced first presenters Steve Martin and Short as the latest contestants on The Golden Bachelor.

The first father-son duo to host the Emmys, the pair made some fine self-deprecating jokes – Eugene had hoped, Dan said, to get them cast by Ryan Murphy as the Menendez Brothers – and also took some good-hearted swipes at this evening’s nominees.

This will mark the first time a father and son have shared hosting duties, and it would be hard to find a pair better suited to the task. Although this is the first time the two serve as hosts, they're not precisely Emmy newbies. The Levys have been on the receiving end of a number of awards each: Eugene earned two Emmys for his work on the sketch comedy series Sctv Network 90 and two for Schitt's Creek, while Dan's wins stemmed from his work on the latter show. Besides earning the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series, Dan earned directing and writing wins for his work on the series' finale.

It has been two long years for fans of Severance, Apple TV+'s mind-bending original series. Though the upcoming second season has been shrouded in mystery, the streamer recently posted a cryptic video, teasing what is to come.

The recently posted clip comes via Apple TV+'s X account, and is a brief fifteen-second clip accompanied by the show's theme song, which shows a dimly lit elevator that is blinking red. However, fans of the show have already deduced that the blinking light is Morse code for "tomorrow," indicating that more news or possibly even a trailer is on the way. The only other glimpse fans have received for the second season, was a trailer promoting the upcoming slate for Apple TV+'s future projects that was released in early June.

The sixth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards nominations were unveiled, and MTV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race and Peacock’s The Traitors lead the pack.

Both competition series coincide in the Best Competition Series and Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series categories. RuPaul and Alan Cumming will vie for Best Show Host and Male Star of the Year for their respective shows.

Drag Race also scored a nod in the Best Lifestyle Show: Fashion/Beauty category, while The Traitors star Phaedra Parks picked up a Female Star of the Year nom.

Both series will vie for best competition series, best ensemble cast in an unscripted series, best show host (RuPaul and Alan Cumming) and male star of the year (RuPaul and Cumming, again). Drag Race also is up for best lifestyle show: fashion/beauty, while Traitors‘ Phaedra Parks earned a nom for female star of the year.

Also up for best show host are Will Arnett (Lego Masters), Terry Crews (America’s Got Talent), Kristen Kish (Top Chef) and Keke Palmer (Password).

In season two of his Apple docuseries The Reluctant Traveler, Eugene Levy explores parts of Europe that may be overlooked for bigger, more well-known cities.

Instead of Madrid or Barcelona, he visits Andalusia, Spain. The Schitt’s Creek star forgoes Mykonos or Santorini for life on the tiny Greek island of Milos. He finds himself in Sylt, Germany, as opposed to major cities like Berlin or Munich.

Ahead of each season, the Reluctant Traveler production team scouts out possible locations for the Emmy-winning actor, comedian and nervous globe-trotter to visit. Together with Levy, they decide what places would be the most fun and meaningful, and go from there. The team often visits each place multiple times to find out who Levy will be interacting with, what he’s going to do and how he’s going to dive into a new culture.

Eugene Levy admitted he’s looking at the future of his acting career and believes retirement may not be too far away.

The 77-year-old actor-comedian, who had a career resurgence in the past decade thanks to the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, recently opened up to The Independent about potentially stepping back from acting sooner rather than later.

“I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy confessed. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

The Reluctant Traveler host explained that he’s not seeking out any long-term projects, but rather ones that better align with his current schedule and require fewer time commitments.
