Steve Buscemi and Daniel Brühl are set to attend Slano Film Days, which will focus on the work of actors this year. The festival, which was set up two years ago by former Sarajevo Film Festival chief Miro Purivatra, runs June 17-21 in Slano, Croatia. The actors will “share their insights and experiences with talented regional filmmakers,” the festival said.
Slano will screen Buscemi’s latest film, ”Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer,” which recently won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film’s director, Tolga Karaçelik, will also be among the festival’s guests. The film that brought Brühl international fame, ”Good Bye, Lenin!” will be screened in Slano in honor of the director Wolfgang Becker, who died recently.
Buscemi is currently working on a new film, “Wild Horse Nine,” directed by Martin McDonagh, for Searchlight Pictures.

Martin McDonagh is coming off of the critical darling The Banshees of Inisherin with Wild Horse Nine. The director is partnering with Searchlight Pictures again after working with them on another critical darling, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The new film already has an all-star cast associated with the project, including Sam Rockwell, Mark Ruffalo and John Malkovich. The project was first announced back in 2021 and was yet to be titled. According to Deadline, the film rolls cameras this month on Rapa Nui, “the indigenous name for Easter Island, a protected Chilean wildlife area 3,700 kilometers off the country’s coast known for its unrivalled cultural landscape and for being the most remote inhabited island on Earth. The Rapa Nui National Park continues to maintain a high degree of authenticity, having had minimal intervention since the area’s near-abandonment in the late 19th century.” Now, Deadline reports that Tom Waits, who...

Steve Buscemi has joined the high-flying cast of Wild Horse Nine, a Searchlight feature being directed by Martin McDonagh. It is the filmmaker’s first feature since his acclaimed The Banshees of Inisherin.
Sam Rockwell, who starred in McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, as well as John Malkovich and Parker Posey are already in the saddle for the dark comedic drama that begins shooting later this month in Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island.
Plot and character details are being kept under wraps, but it is extremely rare that a production, let alone an American or British one, shoots on the island, which lies 3,700 kilometers off the coast of Chile and is one of the most remote, inhabited islands on Earth. It is also one of the rare areas not overrun by modern conveniences, as it is run by the Rapa Nui National Park.

Film4 is considering the commercial potential of its slate “more than we have done,” said the division’s director Ollie Madden during an on-stage interview at Film London’s Upstream IP pitching event on March 4.
“In British independent film, we’ve had an internalised snobbery about being too commercial,” said Madden, speaking in conversation with Film London CEO Adrian Wootton.
He clarified: “At Film4, [commerciality] is not the driving factor. We have a cultural remit, we’re a non-profit self-sustaining broadcaster. Unlike a commercial company like Warner Bros, that’s not the driving incentive.

John Malkovich will be starring in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps this summer and recently opened up about why it took him this long to act in one.
In a new interview, Malkovich revealed the real reason he had not appeared in the MCU until now was due to pay.
“The reason I didn’t do them had nothing to do with any artistic considerations whatsoever,” Malkovich told GQ. “I didn’t like the deals they made, at all.”
He continued, “These films are quite grueling to make…. If you’re going to hang from a crane in front of a green screen for six months, pay me. You don’t want to pay me, it’s cool, but then I don’t want to do it, because I’d rather be onstage, or be directing a play, or doing something else.”

Parker Posey joins Wild Horse Nine on its Rapa Nui location shoot, due to start next month.
After sweeping up awards nominations galore for 2022’s Banshees Of Inisherin, it seems like Martin McDonagh is sticking to the island-set formula for his next film – which has just added Thelma and Beau Is Afraid star Parker Posey to its cast.
According to Variety, the film is due to start production next month in Rapa Nui, the indigenous name for Easter Island. The protected Chilean wildlife area is known for being the most remote inhabited island on Earth. We’re sure it’s got nicer weather than Inishmore, too.
Posey joins the film alongside Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich and Mark Ruffalo, ahead of her debut in season 3 of similarly island-obsessed drama, The White Lotus. Is there a buy-one-get-one-free deal on island location shoots going on?

Martin McDonagh is back with another darkly intriguing project, and this time, he’s bringing some heavy hitters along for the ride. Wild Horse Nine, the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s next film, has officially landed at Searchlight Pictures, with John Malkovich, Mark Ruffalo, and Parker Posey joining the previously announced Sam Rockwell in leading roles, as per Deadline and Variety. Cameras are set to roll in March on Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, which is certainly a lot more exotic, if just as isolated, as the Irish isle setting of The Banshees of Inisherin.

British-Irish filmmaker Martin McDonagh made massive waves in previous awards seasons with dramatic comedies such as “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” the latter earned nine nominations without a single win. The playwright-turned-filmmaker is now lining up his next feature effort, titled “Wild Horse Nine” which would see him reunite with Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell. McDonagh previously worked with the versatile actor on ‘Three Billboards’—that performance earned his Best Supporting Actor Oscar statue—and “Seven Psychopaths.”
Two other high-profile casting additions have been announced as Deadline reports: John Malkovich (“Opus,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“) and Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things,” “Mickey 17“), with production set to begin next month in Rapa Nui, the indigenous name for Easter Island.

Mark Ruffalo, John Malkovich And Parker Posey Join Sam Rockwell In Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine

As filmmakers go, British-Irish director and playwright Martin McDonagh is certainly one of the more well traveled among his peers. He's taken us to Belgium with In Bruges, Los Angeles for Seven Psychopaths, the American Midwest in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and a fictitious Irish Island with The Banshees Of Inisherin. For his next joint, Wild Horse Nine, the director is adding another stamp to the passport with a trip all the way out to Easter Island — and he's bringing quite the touring party with him. Per Variety's reporting, Mark Ruffalo, John Malkovich, and Parker Posey are set to join McDonagh regular Sam Rockwell for the BAFTA award winner's latest.
