Last Cigarette Ever (#5.11)
ComedyFan201023 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
An episode a smoker can relate to, even an occasional smoker like Barney. The fact that none of them smoked before is easy to go over as it is understandable a father would not be telling his kids about them smoking unless it was very relevant to the story as it was in this particular episode.

It goes through all the reasons one may smoke. Like occasionally like Barney, or when stressed, or when certain situations come up, pr to bond with somebody. And all the things that it brings with itself. Lily's smoker voice was pretty funny though. And the memories one has of the time one starts smoking and might regret it, or the times when people could smoke in the bars.

And the last cigarette moment was also pretty good. The sun coming up, like a new beginning. but of course as in reality it wasn't anyone's last cigarette. They all had it sooner or later though

One of the best
I have a feeling that Jason Segel(Marshall Eriksen) was one of the few people who was responsible for the production of the episode, simply due to the fact that he is a bona-fide smoker. So much so in fact that Alyson Hannigan( Lily Aldrin) refuses to kiss him on the lips because of his smoking habit. But all in all this is one of the episodes of HIMYM that I have seen like a thousand times. But it is polarizing in the sense that only people who have smoked in a part of their life(especially with a group of friends) or have observed a smoker will understand it. It shows what makes smoking so addictive and hard to leave i.e. the fact that it is kind of ritual which stays with you and helps you bond with a group I mean I know this might sound weird but it is true and that is the very reason it is difficult to let go and I am sure that many smokers or ex-smokers truly understand and clearly remember their many "Last cigarette evers"

One of my favorite episodes.

Truly one of my favorite HIMYM episodes. Last Cigarette Ever has so many funny lines and bits that it always makes me laugh. If you have never been a smoker or have never been friends with smokers, then some of the humor would be lost on you. Side note: People that tried to claim this episode encourages smoking are wrong, in my own opinion. I believe this episode does enough to discourage smoking.

Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk!

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was hilarious and very relatable, and the fact that they put a Rufus Wainwrite song in the last scene made it worth the watch.

I like the bit where she threw the cigarette in the coffee cup and it caught fire

One Of The Shows Worst Episodes
slightlymad2213 January 2015
This episodes is one of the shows worst episodes. Ever since the brilliant episode called "The Playbook" each episode has been a drop in quality since the last, and now we are at this point.

Plot In A Paragraph: Although he vowed that he would never tell them, Ted finally tells his kids that at one time all the gang used to smoke. In 2009, Marshall, only an occasional smoker, always said that each cigarette was his last. But when his old boss, the meanest man nicknamed Artillery Arthur, became his new boss, he thought he was going to be fired - again. So when Marshall found out that Arthur was a smoker, Marshall used it as a bonding mechanism to keep his job. Robin, at the time anchoring the morning show, had just gotten a new co-anchor named Don Frank. There was serious friction between the two.

I believe we'd only seen Robin smoking previously, now the full gang are smokers??

Worst HIMYM Episode Ever
swiftmikegammell10 December 2012
I really like HIMYM. I've seen every episode at least once, which allows me to definitively say that "Last Cigarette Ever" is the worst one. There are many reasons why I feel this way, but the two big reasons are: 1. It made no sense. Up to this point, I believe only Robin had ever been shown smoking a cigarette. Now all of a sudden, they all are smokers. I'm not going to pretend that the writers haven't made mistakes before, but this was a little ridiculous. 2. It felt like a half-hour Marlboro ad. I think the intent was to discourage smoking, but I personally felt like it did the opposite. Awful episode in an otherwise very good series.
