OMG what were they thinking?
annaliesepw6 December 2021
I have mixed feelings about this 'film'; on one hand it is chaotic, nonsensical and has subzero storyline. The premise is about filming 'the perfect ending' to a movie (that premieres "that night" I might add). It bounces from scene to scene with no cohesion and revolves around makeovers and in your face advertising for the movie merchandise. And shame on Netflix that they had a promo for this movie that was NOTHING like the movie. Not even close. The promo for Jurassic Park would have been closer.

BUT, on the other hand, my kids love these dolls. While my 11 yr old confusedely asked 'what was that even about. Tell me that was not the movie?", my 8 yr old seemed satisfied with it enough to watch it another 4 times since then. For younger viewers it can assist with them imagining their own dolls from this collection 'coming to life' and in that sense this movie does have some value. Just keep your expectations realistic. The animation was excellent, just a shame the writers missed the mark by miles on an opportunity to integrate these products into the TV platform, in the same way MGA has done their Rainbow High collection.

Hour Long Toy Advert Mess
henners-5922324 October 2021
The script is a heady mix of random catchphrases 'Queen, Slay, Fierce, Diva'. The plot is literally that there is no plot to the movie and it ends with a mashing together incoherently.

None of it matters unless they name drop the relevant characters they want your kids to buy.

The child I watched it with could not really remember a single thing that had happened during the movie other than a few character names. There is no message, this is an advertisement.

A heinous boring film

Terrible, killed an hours worth of time for my daughter, but made me want to disembowel myself.

The whole thing is just an advert for lol surprise and unfortunately now this is all my daughter wants.

Want your kid to become an influencer?
quibbles22 October 2021
If not, dont watch this, cause it's garbage. Could be directed by a 5-yo who's mom has a fetisch for child beuty contests. The dolls are all worse than Barbie with the hip-waste-chest ratios and the editing is on par with Adam Sandlers worst movies from before he turned famous.

Everything seems to be focused around make overs and trying to look as "fabulous" as possible.

Over promoted, barely enjoyed.

Warning: Spoilers
I've seen them post way too many clips and trailers on their YouTube channel, and holy smokes, after seeing other people review this, I have to agree with them. When is comes to LOL Surprise, it's common to hear phrases such as Queen, Diva, Slay, Fierce, OMG, and Sass, so I didn't mind that. But I personally couldn't STAND the fact that the live action scene at the beginning would be a girl to put on 3D glasses, become Queen Bee, and not become her own doll that looked like her. Heck, even Royal Bee thought it was QUEEN BEE, HER SISTER. I checked the movie, hoping they would realize she was actually a HUMAN, but noooooo. She is still Queen Bee. And everyone thinks she's Queen Bee.

Honestly, I wish there wasn't anything live action. And I also wish they would rewrite the script to make it more plot like. I personally LOVE LOL's, but this movie I would give a pass.

This movie was so fun and my six year old daughter loved it! She is obsessed the Queen B girl. Couldn't stop talking about her in the movie. This was such a sweet movie and it really focused on teamwork and friendship. Love it.

Cute Movie!
FilmMom-0302030 October 2021
Very cute movie for kids. My grandchildren really enjoyed it. Fun watch. And pretty fun for adults too! We all watched it together and really had a fun Friday night. Would recommend this movie if your kids or grandkids want something easy and cute to watch on the weekend. It had some really sweet themes as well.

A goddamn masterpiece
reclark-212 March 2023
This should have been just a product-placing piece of fluff. It should have been cynical, insubstantial, just plain dumb. So how did it end up with this much depth, this much nuance? Who asked that it include an extended De Palma homage, a vaporwave western fashion showdown, an action-packed comic-book-styled chase scene, with the disparate aesthetics held together by a series of vaudevillean stop-motion sequences? Sure, it tells of a young girl's reckoning with change through an imaginative interaction with a world of product -- but, goddammit, kids already live in a world of product; that is precisely how they engage with and overcome trauma. Somehow this movie knows that, knows how to work with the premise, and finds an inner directorial freedom to represent that engagement in all its chaotic fluidity, utterly keen to the power of misdirection and surprise. It speaks from a rich visual language, refreshingly free of immersion-breaking winks and nods to the grown-ups in the room. Kudos to all involved.

overhated

I've seen so many people with the same critique over and over again, " made to sell toys". Obviously! Its a toy brand, making a movie. The barbie movies where made to sell toys, the mlp movies where made to sell toys, toy movies are made to sell toys!!!! Look at it from a child's perspective. Do you think they care about backstory, or stuff making no sense? Maybe, but very often not! This movie is for children, and i think that children's views on the movie is important. Some may not like it, some may, but way to many people are talking about it as if children wont enjoy it even if it doesn't make sense.
