Unexplained actions and choices

Warning: Spoilers
I don't mind slow movies. In fact, I like slow movies. So that is not my issue with Love Is a Map. What I don't like is these recurring images with something blurry in the foreground, be it a shoulder, a vase or any unidentified object. I suppose they are meant to make you feel like a spy, present in the vicinity of the action. But when there is nothing to spy on, no secrets to be revealed, they don't make much sense. They are just ugly. There are a couple of beautiful shots in the film, but these blurry foreground images are just ugly.

The interaction between the two leads is strange. The love scene is cold as ice. Hot kiss with closed lips? (like: "I don't wanna kiss a woman with an open mouth", "Okay. Well, kiss her like a friend, but just a little bit longer".) We are to believe that two persons that has been in love with each other since heaven knows when and finally has an opportunity to make a life together, decide to walk separate ways. If that is what's happening, we need an explanation - but we don't get one. They just walk away.
