Jinx motivation
evansjoshyr13 November 2021
The 4 star review doesn't know what they're talking about. Jinx/powder's writing on this show has been absolutely excellent and her motivations are quite clear.

From episode 1, powder desperately tried to fit in with a group that hated her. She tried to make the "right" decision her whole life, yet always managed to make things worse. Which is both quite relatable, yet also heartbreaking. In episode 3, the one person who had always defended powder (her own sister), then abandoned her and told her every insecurity she had about herself was true. This caused her to go into a mental breakdown because she has none one in her life to turn to.

Then, of course, when silco shows her compassion (because he sees himself in her), it makes sense why she joins him.

And that is what I love about this show. Its all about the writing of the characters. Vi, Jinx and even Silco are all three dimensional characters and I have a fair amount of sympathy for all of them.

Now, with that rant aside, this was truly another excellent episode, with that amazing fight with Vi at the end. I absolutely love the relationship between silco and Jinx. He seems to care for her, rather than just using her to get what he wants. It helps with my point about silco being an interesting character. I love it! The "being reborn" scene really captures this. I can't wait to watch episode 6. These arcs feel like entire seasons or movies in their own right!

Ready for the reunion

Warning: Spoilers
I could watch endless episodes following the Caitlyn and Vi buddy cop stuff, they had great chemistry and loved their dynamic. Love how they are exploring the politics behind the Hextech and it's fun trying to work out everyones motivations, particularly Mel. Ready for the reunion of the sisters now! Also lets show some appreciation to Imagine Dragons cause the title song and title of this episode is amazing!

Exciting as it can be

Absolutely beautiful episode. A House of Cards meets Castlevania one, for what it counts. It makes me wish they made a movie already, but I guess it's not a format they could profit much.

Anyway, the thing is that this episode was f-cking soothing to the senses, a truly cinematographic experience if you excuse me the term.

It pains me to say that League mythos is thriving the most through this series. In its beginning there were many great artists and creators, yet its love was undeserved in the wake of fame and money. Now, it pleases every second and captivates everybody with a unique story in an unseen world.

Imagine a sweat-soaked director shaking his arms: "Characters... Characters... Characters...!!!"
GraXXoR22 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
(I have never played, watched nor read about LoL, I come at this review as a complete vanilla viewer of the show, based merely on a solid recommendation by The Critical Drinker).

... OK...

Every single one of the major characters has been fleshed out and created with love, thought and care along with many of the tier 2 characters.

Everyone has their place, their drives, their motivations... and their utmost fears.

I just can't get over how good they all are...

Vi: As the major protagonist is ironically the simplest of the characters in the show, but not in a bad way. She is easy to root for, wholesome and although rash at times, makes no bone-headed decisions. Her loyalties are fierce and we feel that she has lost her way somewhat without those around her.

Caitlyn: Female, comes from on high, physically solid and healthy, hot-blooded, confident and we know where she stands about Vi... We get to see Caitlyn's development, too... Far from the spoilt brat image we were initially treated to, she has become a far deeper and nuanced character, with a heart of solid gold. Perhaps one of the cleanest, purest character introduced so far, on par with Viktor as almost a mirror image.

Viktor: Male, comes from down under physically challenged and sickly, cerebral, introverted. I can't help but think that Viktor has a "thing" for Jayce...(Alejandro's voice... OMG, right? J/k) I can't help but come to the conclusion that Caitlyn and Viktor are mirrors of each other reflected on the other side of the world, considering how they started together but ended up polar opposites. They are opposite sides of the kaleidoscope: Such incredible artistry in what is basically an offshoot of an MMO... Mind is blown.

So let's look at the other side: The Villains. The Villains are magnificent, fully fleshed out antagonists.

Silko is suave, charming, deeply hurt, haunted, cool but not cold or brutal. He is calm and thoughtful and in for the long game and despite his life threatening incident, still has passion and is pretty much impossible to hate even though we know he is the early-series "Big Bad" Silko's initial feelings for Powder seem to be growing into true affection that he himself appears to be losing control of... I'm sensing that as Powder has become a woman, so Silko's feelings for her may have become somewhat... complex.

And so now we get to former Powder/ now Jinx, who appears central to the series and who I predict will become a crux in the following episodes... Even so far as I'd put real money on a Powder takeover of the Big Bad position, usurping her surrogate father figure, Silko later in the series... ala Willow in the series Buffy.

Powder/Jinx is the most complex character of all.

I actually cried when I watched her at the boxing machine. So much anger and self hatred. Her love/hate relationship with Vi and the flashbacks to the two of them as children and her guilt for the deaths of her squad mates has turned her into a bitter, self doubting dependent.

And despite Powder escaping her initial group who distrusted her and wanted her out, she has become to Silko and his group just as she was to Vi and hers: Valued and beloved by the leader, but infuriatingly out of control and distrusted by the others... It seems Powder is fated to carry her story forward with her unchanged.

My pet theory coming out of this episode is that she leads directly or indirectly to the deaths of Silko's people much like she did Vi's...

The "Baptism" scene between her and Silko was exquisite.

She has access to the HexTech, making the purple slime pretty much inconsequential in comparison to her newfound power.

My prediction going forward:

Her baptism by Silko sees her reborn to lose the only shackles she has remaining to her humanity and her restraint. And as her runaway genius talents awaken to something truly unbound, I predict things are going to escalate beyond control.

This show is just so, so good.

Characters, Characters, Characters.

Each and every one of their flawed, lovable souls....

Excellent episode 9/10
Husain_anusif11 December 2021
This series really amazes me in every episode I watch.

I liked the course of events in this episode because it was very entertaining, I also liked the use of the soundtrack at the end of the episode and in the scene (Everybody wants to be my enemy) was very excellent.

A beautiful episode in terms of animation, directing, music and events.

Really good
reidyq14 December 2021
Everybody Wants to Be My Enemy is an entertaining, well-written episode. One of my favorite things about this show is that it is very consistently great, and how good it is at answering questions. If you are confused at one part, it will help you understand it in a future episode or in that episode, the best examples of that are the 2nd episode, this episode, and the one after this episode. The characters are what this show is the best in though. Jinx/Powder, Vi, and Silco are all great characters and if they weren't in the show and they somehow made a story out of that, it would suck. This episode wasn't as good as some other episodes in this series but it is still great. 8.2/10.

Imagine Dragons didn't need to be here

Would give the episode a higher score but shoehorning the Imagine Dragons music video into the episode was absolutely unnecessary and felt forced. Must have been in the contract...

Don't feel bad for not recognized VI, it happens to a lot of people
Neptune16523 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Marcus is great at digging his own grave but i don't think he can really back out of this now, it would be the right thing to do and he knows it all too well, but when Silco took Vander's place all of Vander's jobs came with it, including making secret deals with the enforcers. Marcus isn't just another corrupt cop anymore, he unwittingly took Grayson's place by dethroning Vander all those years back, and if he cuts ties with Silco he cuts ties with the Undercity as a whole, and a person with a family can't make such a bold decision without expecting perilous repercussions, after all it's not just his own skin in the game anymore, as his daughter could end up taking the punishment for him at worst. I think that Jinx shooting the bird is actually kind of important. It's a good indicator to us, the audience, that Powder is well and truly gone. The merciless and unnecessary killing of animals is considered a pretty accurate indicator of serious mental disorders like psychopathy or sociopathy. Given that Jinx apparently can see the weird scribbles and ghosts of her friends and has all her life (remember the opening scene on the bridge?), it's entirely possible that she's suffering from full blown psychosis at this point. She has no idea what's real or not.

Rollercoaster

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is honestly one of my favorite TV episodes, in general.

The episode starts with a scene from Caitlyn's past, where we see that her parents intended for her to be an officer from the start.

Then there are a few scenes of Vi in prison, which are pretty good. She basically forces Caitlyn to let her out. Also, Vi getting trauma from Powder's bombs is great. That damn mechanical monkey.

Talking about Jinx, we get a scene where we see the Powder side of her once again. She tries to use those magic bombs, but immediately gets trauma from that day and runs off basically crying. I do like when shows and movies write insane characters with a reason, and Jinx is an example, her Powder side still being afflicted from that day. It's not every day that I nearly shed a tear for a mass murderer terrorist.

Then we have scenes with Vi and Caitlyn that are just great, Vi doing all those acrobatics and casually shutting off Caitlyn by saying that Powder was better than her at 7. Despite being the weakest of the group, Powder was still a beast.

Then there are funny moments with Vi and Caitlyn in Zaun, Vi still having great chemistry with that world despite not being in it for years and Caitlyn being completely disoriented.

We have a good scene with Marcus blowing himself up, but actually he didn't. I didn't really like Marcus before this episode, but he has grown on me. When I saw the fake scene of him taking Silco down in a suicide attack I had to pause to realize what happened.

There's also Jinx getting the Powder PTSD again from going in the room where they practiced. Great scene.

We then have the full transformation of Powder into Jinx. Silco's scenes are written to be uncomfortable, and damn they are.

Viktor then nearly dies while working on the magic science. All this while Jayce is having the time of his life.

And at the end there's the fight scene with Vi, which is animated damn well. The whole fight I was just shouting at Vi to win. Caitlyn also helps.

Overall, the chemistry between the characters is amazing, there are several scenes that recall the past which I really like, and I give this 10/10. Jinx and Vi are perfectly written.

Weak
fnot-6393814 November 2021
It's just good animation and that's it , almost all the characters are boring with lazy and one dimensional writing, the story is nothing special, and somethings are just forced and aren't necessary at all .

Alright

Weakest episode so far, it's alright but being a Netflix show it was obvious they were going to include some wokeness. It appears they will make some character's unnecessarily gay. I hate it when they make everything political.

Jinx Motivation
etisyardimci13 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I still don't understand what is jinx motivation. Even Vi get suprised. Why was she allied with arch enemy Silco? In episode 3 ending was ridicuolus and in this episode, we saw the effect of this lazy writting.
