Japanese actor Koki is swiftly building an international profile that spans continents and genres, from dual roles in a Japanese horror film to sword fighting in 18th century Britain.

The model-turned-musician-turned-actor recently added the Asian Film Awards Rising Star Award to her growing resume, marking her first recognition outside her home country as she prepares to announce a new project based in Hong Kong.

“It means so much to be able to receive an award outside Japan,” Koki tells Variety. “The Rising Star Award gives me so much courage and recognition. I feel like I want to do my all my best to be able to go up to the award.”

Na Hong-Kon’s highly anticipated new thriller feature film “Hope” adds two more cast members: Uhm Tae-goo (from “Night in Paradise”) and Lee Kyu-hyung (from “Seoul Vibe”).

The two join an already star-studded cast-list that is headlined by superstars Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung and, in her first feature film role since the unprecedented success of “Squid Game”, Jung Ho-yeon. From Takashi Shimizu, the visionary creator of The Grudge franchise comes the new supernatural horror film Ox-Head Village, which is now streaming on Screambox!

In the horror movie, “After watching a viral video, a woman, who believes that she’s the twin of one of the participants, decides to investigate the town where the video was shot.”

A Screambox Original, Ox-Head Village screened at numerous international festivals including the New York Asian Film Festival and Fantaspoa Film Festival. It stars Kôki (Touch), Riku Hagiwara (Three Sisters of Tenmasou) and Haruka Imô (Kamen Rider Black Sun).

Fantaspoa 2022 Announced: "After two years of successful online editions, the 18th edition of the beloved Brazilian genre festival Fantaspoa will return to the cinemas from April 15th through May 1st. This year, attendees will discover a very different Fantaspoa from its last on-site edition (a very distant 2019): instead of its usual two venues, the fest will take place simultaneously in five cinemas, with part of its program also being available online, geo-blocked for viewers within Brazil.

The poster for this year’s festival was conceived by the festival’s art director Thalles Mourão, with the drawing from local artist Fernanda Moreira. The striking image is a mashup of two centenary anniversaries: The Modern Art Week, one of Brazil’s greatest art movements, and F. W.
