- Mr. White and his team of government agents put the Jeffersonian Lab on lock down and demand that Brennan and her forensics team determine a cause of death for an unidentified, but highly classified set of remains. As the team gets to work, their findings lead them to suspect they are investigating one of the most famous presidential assassinations in history. Meanwhile, Booth's boss, Andrew Hacker, helps him break into the lab and determine the motive behind the mystery investigation, and a frustrated Cam worries that Michelle may be keeping a big secret from her.—FOX Publicity
- The mysterious federal agent, Mr. White, and a whole team of men in black, are all using the General Services Agency (federal office supplies) as a cover. They suddenly close off the Jeffersonian, even for Booth. The forensic experts are ordered to examine only the cause of death, not the identity of a body they can't take samples from. Initial findings, the total secrecy and Hodgins' knack for conspiracy theories point to JFK. That theory becomes a major obsession when Booth forces his way in, before his 'political' boss Andrew Hacker follows, perhaps rather to impress Bones. Meanwhile Camille, Angela and a potential father stress about a positive pregnancy test.—KGF Vissers
- Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) share a pizza. Booth claims to see Michael Jackson in the slices. "Your mind forms patterns from random information," says a dismissive Bones. Booth moonwalks out. Camille (Tamara Taylor) then enters holding a positive pregnancy test. "Are you by any chance pregnant?" she asks Bones, who matter-of-factly states she hasn't had sexual intercourse in some time. Could Michelle be pregnant? Camille certainly hopes not. Just then, Mr. White (Richard T. Jones) and a team of government agents enter -- toting a body under a black blanket. The goons proceed to lock down the lab. "The government requires you to find out how this person died," Mr. White says. "Until you do, we are all locked in here together as a matter of national security ... no one in, no one out." Whoa!
Sweets (John Francis Daley) sneaks a cell-phone call to Booth, who has left the building, and explains the cloak-and-dagger situation. Booth rushes to his car to find it surrounded by more black-suited goons. "I want to go inside," Booth tells Mr. White, who firmly denies the request to enter the Jeffersonian. Bones, meanwhile, gets to work on the bones. She notes spinal degeneration and a host of other painful problems. Metal-plate marks indicate "multiple corrective surgeries." The skull, meanwhile, has a huge gash. Gunshot wound? Camille is too distracted to work. "I'm too young to be a grandmother," she frets.
Outside the lab, Booth goes to Andrew Hacker (Diedrich Bader), who promises to "poke around." Sweets calls with "observations." "They don't respect Mr. White," boy wonder says. "But they treat the body on the gurney with great deference." Booth suggests a fallen comrade, perhaps. Hodgins (T.J. Thyne), meanwhile, looks like he's "about to explode," according to Camille. And with good reason: the conspiracy theorist believes the bones to belong to none other than JFK! Bones and Camille do not disagree as the markings on the body are consistent with the known facts of the president's assassination. Suddenly, the group hears a GUNSHOT! It's Booth, who has shot through the front door and entered the lab. He is immediately gang tackled by the government goons, but his mission has been accomplished. Booth is now trapped inside with "his people" by order of Mr. White.
In the meantime, Angela (Michaela Conlin) tells Camille it was her pregnancy test all along. Angela is pregnant with Wendell's baby, apparently -- but Wendell doesn't know yet. Camille is sad for her friend, but relieved as all get out her adopted daughter isn't preggers. Angela then breaks the news to Hodgins -- and cries while doing so. "It's not the right time," she says. "It's not the right guy!" Hodgins is gentle and understanding. We all know he IS the right guy. Later, the team huddles to discuss whether they truly believe the body belongs to JFK. Hodgins sure does -- and he also doesn't believe the single-shooter theory. Booth, a trained sniper, vehemently disagrees there was some sort of conspiracy and cover up. So how do they settle it?
Easy. Hodgins explains the Jeffersonian keeps an exact replica of Oswald's rifle in the basement. He also explains, a few years earlier, he discovered a fake wall in the janitor's closet that leads to the basement. The trick will be getting to the basement via the closet without the government goons catching on. With Hodgins running interference, Booth and Sweets manage to sneak through the wall and into the basement. Using Hodgins' homemade map, they find the rifle and sneak it back upstairs where Hodgins has rigged a makeshift "motorcade" complete with two cantaloupes standing in for human heads. Hodgins sets the melons in motion and Booth, using the replica rifle, hits both targets within seconds of each other, proving his point. Everyone is quite impressed -- except for Mr. White, who is FURIOUS. Naturally, he threatens to end Booth's career.
But there's more! Bones discovers a previously unnoticed marking on the skull, indicating a second shooter! Booth, who thought he just proved Oswald acted alone, storms out of the room. He refuses to believe the government is responsible for a cover up. Later, Bones confronts her partner. "Those remains are not John F. Kennedy," Booth insists. Bones wonders if Booth's defiant attitude has anything to do with the fact his own ancestor -- John Wilkes Booth -- was a reviled assassin. The mere mention of the connection sends Booth into a rage. He storms out again -- and immediately calls Hacker who explains a Congressional hearing on whether to exhume JFK is about to be held. Turns out some believe modern forensic science can prove or disprove the government's long-held stance on a single shooter. Could the goon squad be somehow connected?
Hodgins takes a time out from conspiracy theorizing to tell Angela she can count on him for help with the future little one. "I'm your guy," he says. "I love you. I love you! And I want to help you in whatever way you can. If you want to move into together. If you want to get married. I'm here for you." Angela doesn't know what to say. Neither do we. Meanwhile, Camille explains to Bones and Sweets why Booth is so upset: the sniper-turned-FBI agent has shot close to 50 people for his government. "Booth did that because he trusted it was right," Camille says. "If they lie about the murder of the president, they can lie about anything." Suddenly, Mr. White enters and declares the investigation OVER. Bones protests -- they're so close to knowing for sure a). if the body actually is Kennedy and b). if so, how he was killed. Mr. White doesn't care. He wants the body packed up ASAP. "In an hour, you'll find that none of this happened," he says.
Later, Camille presents Angela with news: the latter is NOT pregnant. Turns out Camille retested the sample when she thought it might belong to Michelle. "It's a false positive," Camille says with a smile. Oddly, Angela seems a bit disappointed. Cut to Bones and Booth, who hover over the body. Mr. White approaches, telling them (again) to pack up the bones pronto. Suddenly, Booth decides that the truth must be known. He handcuffs Mr. White to the railing. "Your job is to protect the president and my job is to solve murders!" Booth says. The other goons race to take Booth down, but the FBI agent is too badass for them. He disarms and handcuffs each in quick succession. Just then, Hacker storms the lab with armed men -- and is disappointed to learn that Booth has already done the heavy listing. "Oh, man, ten seconds earlier I would've been the hero," Hacker says.
Later, Bones performs her final test -- and discovers the mysterious bones show a disease that JFK did NOT have. In other words, it wasn't the president all along. Booth, overjoyed, gives his partner a big hug. It looks like they might just kiss when Mr. White and Hacker enter. "I have been speaking with Mr. White here from the General Services Administration and we've come to the conclusion that any reports we all write should be carefully worded," Hacker says. "As in, there shouldn't be any words in them." At the diner, Hodgins insists the team was being tested -- a dry run for the Congressional committee wanting JFK's bones exhumed. It makes sense, except Bones insists the body didn't actually belong to the president. And, yet, she seems to be hiding something.
Angela also tells Hodgins he doesn't have to play daddy as she won't be having a baby, after all. "I want to thank you," she says. "I'll never forget it." The two walk away hand in hand. Camille, meanwhile, confronts Bones about the body. Turns out it might have been Kennedy's body, after all -- because the president had scarlet fever as a child, which could have created the condition seen earlier in the lab. "It was statistically unlikely," Bones says. Camille smiles. She knows Bones did it all for Booth.
As they leave, we see a TV news show explaining Kennedy's body will not be exhumed due to "respect for the family."
