HEAVY MENTAL is a dreadful little shot-on-video horror film about a guitar-playing kid who comes into possession of a haunted guitar which is possessed by the spirit of a rock god. Yeah, I'm not making this up. The guitar has murder in mind, transforming the kid from a mild-mannered youth into a vengeful demon (in other words he dons a skull mask), and bloodshed ensues.
It's difficult to express in words just how poor this Troma release is. It's full of absurd acting, with grating voices that make you cringe at every stage, and plenty of cheapo gore effects which are quite laughable. Heavy metal fans might enjoy the music and paraphernalia that fills this movie, but as I'm not one, I can't comment.
