Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy is one of those beloved book franchises that should have gotten a TV series adaptation at least five years ago. Set in a world in which two distinct races of vampires—the Moroi and the Strigoi—exist, the six-book series centers the best friendship between Moroi princess Lissa and half-vampire bodyguard Rose.
While the series was made into a pretty good movie starring Zoey Deutch back in 2014, it was one of those adaptations that, while fun, didn’t actually do a good job adapting its source material. Now that Peacock has announced a series adaptation from Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec and promising “the elegance of aristocratic romance” combined with “the supernatural thrills of the vampire genre,” the Vampire Academy fanbase might finally get the adaptation they’ve long been asking for. Today, we got our first insight into what the Peacock series will actually look like,...

Irish writer/director Neasa Hardiman started her career in the world of documentaries but for the last few years she's been on a deep-dive into TV, shooting everything from teen dramas ("Tracy Beaker Returns") and crime dramas ("Happy Valley") to superheroes ("Inhumans" and "Jessica Jones"), but for her sophomore effort, Hardiman is directing an original script she also wrote, one which has a decisively different feel.
Sea Fever stars Hermione Corfield as Siobhán, a marine biology student who finds herself aboard a fishing trawler captained by Gerard (Dougray Scott) and Freya (the great Connie Nielsen). Majority of production loans have gone to female directors.
New projects from Neil Jordan, Neasa Hardiman (both pictured) and John Butler are among those supported by the Irish Film Board in its latest round of funding decisions.
In an apparent nod to recent pledges by the Ifb to commit to gender parity in its funded projects, three of the four production loans in this quarter were given to films with female directors.
Filmmaker Neasa Hardiman, whose television credits include Happy Valley and Tracy Beaker Returns, will make her feature directorial debut with Sea Fever, which has been given a provisional offer of commitment by the Ifb.
The film, centred on a science student who becomes isolated from her superstitious trawler crew as they struggle to overcome a deadly parasite in their water supply, was also written by Hardiman and will be produced by Fantastic Films.

Dani Harmer, star of Tracy Beaker Returns and Dani's House, is set to return to Cbbc in a new comedy drama series Dani's Castle to be filmed in Northern Ireland.
The series revolves around Dani relocating to a haunted castle in Ireland.
Casting Director Kerrie Mailey is looking for the following new characters:
Gabe (Male)Gabe is 18 / 19 and is a ghost!
He’s the worst, most rubbish ghost in existence – and he knows it. His attempts to be frightening are a joke. However, despite this, Gabe is brimming with charisma and charm; beneath all his insecurity and fear, he’s good-natured, chivalrous, and a proper gentleman
Regular Character
Esme (Female)Esme (ghost, Aged 10/ 11 going on 200-ish)
Born in the 1700s, Esme is – to say the least – a grumpy old woman
trapped in a 10 year-old girl’s body for all eternity. She’s smart, she’s
scheming, and she doesn’t much like human beings.
