An example of how to derail a gorgeous creation.
Harry_Pamiaqui27 November 2023
From the first movie to the second it changed to a less of quality. I never would've imagined the TV series would be worse. Watching The Croods was the most rewarding experience in decades, it was like going back to the Flintstones, going on adventures with them against the environment was fascinating. Until someone came up with the idea of bringing in a modern family and starting a dispute. At that moment all the innovative brilliance derailed, lowering the quality of the writing to nowadays constant not funny unpleasant gossip. What a waste, a demonstration of how to sabotage a stunning animation concept. The theme is good, the characters are likable, but they should continue to explore the environment rather than focusing on the neighbor's affairs.

Love this series.. my go to comfort watch!

Amazingly written episodes. The stories makes sense it doesn't feel like whatever ever! First season sets the background for the upcoming episodes once you watch first three you just then are hooked and left with curiosity to keep watching.

I honestly love this series!

All characters stories are so beautiful written.

Aga and Hope's stories - them being two different parenting style moms and yet winning with their kids.

The Thunder sisters !!

I would love it if they create one episode to show Guy and his family when he was a kid growing up with better-mans.

I have already watched it 5 times and re watching again now and did I say it's my go to comfort watch .. Me and my 6 year old son we both love this series ..

Love The Croods
zacpiripi19 October 2021
I've watched this several times and although I love the croods from the movies to the cartoon series on Netflix and now the series on Stan, I really didn't like Guy in The Family Tree series. The actor that does the voice over put too much emphasis on the S's which made it really annoying and his character is a little too weak, it was almost like he's a different "Guy" and ao I took one star off for that otherwise it would have gotten all star rating from me. Everything else and everyone else that did voice overs were amazing and really made the characters relatable to the movie characters. If I didn't love the croods so much I actually wouldn't watch this at all because of Guy's character. He just really annoys me in this series and so does the actor.

I love, love, love this new series! More please!

Barely a blip of change from the movies noticed. The quality graphics, brilliant colors, new beasts, plants and storylines are top-notch and fully consistent with the hilarious and fun movies.

Bravo, and I'm ready for more!

Milking the Tree

I vaguely remember seeing this was in production a while ago and just watched the first episode. They did a decent job of replacing the voice actors.

The big thing about the Croods is the gorgeous, imaginative animation and design.

Those are gone. They dialed back the animation to a bare bones degree. Trollhunters set a high bar for what they can do and even the much earlier Dragonriders Race for the Edge was better animated. The characters are stiff and the backgrounds nowhere near as lush. Yes, this is 'tv' quality, but it seems on the cheap end. There are better shows with higher quality in writing and animation. I guess Hulu doesn't pay as well as Netflix.

So fun to watch because of its humor!
rannynm28 September 2021
DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: Family Tree is an amazing and hilarious show. With all the characters from the newest movie, this show is sure to get you laughing.

This show is about the prehistoric Croods living with the Bettermans. While the kids get along, the adults have their fair share of mishaps as they learn how to live together on a farm. In one episode they try to capture the punch monkeys; in another they get Dawns Grr back.

This show is so fun to watch because of its humor. No matter how many mishaps the make, they are always back for more and that makes this show engaging. It has an amazing group of voice actors. Tran reprises her role as Dawn; A. J. Locascio reprises his role as Thunk from Dawn of the Croods. The new voice cast features Amy Landecker as Ugga, Kiff VandenHeuvel as Grug, Ally Dixon as Eep, Artemis Pebdani as Gran, Darin Brooks as Guy, Matthew Waterson as Phil, and Amy Rosoff as Hope. All the voice talent excels at making the Croods sound prehistoric and the Bettermans sound "evolved," as Hope would put it. Another great thing is the design of the farm they live on. It looks so amazing, like something you would want to live in, but if you look closer it is made out of things that were found in prehistoric times. The wall, the house and "The System" are made from bamboo and vines. The house is in a tree; so they live in a tree house. It also credits them with making a lot of things like windows, which are similar to TV and showers.

The message of this show is anyone can get along, no matter how different they are.

I give The Croods: Family Tree 4.5 out of 5 and recommend it for ages 6 to 14, plus adults can watch it with their kids on movie night. This is available on September 23th, 2021 on Hulu and Peacock. By Avalon N., KIDS FIRST!@

Update: It gets better
hruleart27 August 2023
The first season was a real chore to watch but, after getting into season two there is a dramatic shift. Perhaps they just needed to get comfortable with the writing for the characters, or they got a hired someone different, but whatever happened, I'm glad I stayed the course.

I had a longer review on here that was fairly critical based of season one, but after the above experience, I felt inclined to update my review.

Definitely give this a watch if you can, but try to muscle through season one, its worth it.

(You don't have to read this part of the review since I am just trying to use enough characters, but you probably read this anyways, and this)

falling asleep

Animation isn't as slick as the movies, writing isn't as funny as the series Dawn of the Croods. This is very redundant like the Kung-Fu Panda series was. It's the cheap version. And if you've just watched all 4 seasons of the Dawn of the Croods, some of the storylines will be familiar. So, overall, pretty boring.

The croods the family tree has some type of sort of special items. Such as their dubbing, voice over and amazing type of visual graphics and good story telling .

That's why I rated it 10/10.

Another feminine power?
ahmadayan-2888230 November 2022
Okay like wait a second, what is this series?

The first thing poor animation but that's not the thing.

Bcoz suddenly the most intelligent guy "THE GUY" is the most dumbest person alive eh!?

I understand this must be another movie with so called "feminine power".

That's why they needed to down grade the most intelligent and logical "man" to a utter "dumb" and "simp", so they can up the females! Exactly like the so called todays feminist who just want equality for the CEO and the PRESIDENT posts😆.

Well apparently now "EEP" is the most intelligent one! Like seriously?

The rest of family stays still, but eep and ugga became intelligent and city like!?

Dawn is showing a really good lesson to todays kids who r watching this that "do whatever you want don't listen to your parents".

Bruh i can't even talk about this no more bcoz "THE CROODS 1" is still my favourite animation movie and i never expected that this could ever be down graded like that🙂

A SHOW EVERYONE CAN ENJOY
kaitlyn-9337318 November 2023
I have a 9 and 1 year old and between their Dad, Me and them we all enjoy watching this series! Parents out there can understand, I'm sure, that there are few kids shows that you don't want to pull your hair out after having to listen to them all day and finally we found one that is actually funny!! Keep those new episodes coming!!

My oldest son and I loved the movies when they came out and so I always promise him I'll wait for him to watch the new episodes and we both have belly laughed quite a few times.

Gran and Malachi are HILARIOUS. The fact that Eep and Dawn have a healthy friendship is awesome for kids. The parents somehow always disagreeing but then see each others side is great. It's just a great family show!

It's...weird
phenoxrainflower3 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My opinion on the first episode.

1. The background looks 2D, and everyone else looks 3D? Which makes it look photo shopped.

2. The characters look really weird. They don't even look like the ones from the movies.

3. The humor is really poor. It feels more like a "trying to be funny youtube video".

4. Guy and Eep's relationship feels weird now. And it now feels like they are too "in love"

5. It seems like in the first episode, Eep tries to teach her friend(Dawn) to be more rebellious towards her parents. I don't really think that's a great moral.

Would I recommend? Probably not.

Underwhelming trash
Kira7091 December 2021
I sat through one and a half minutes and this is utter garbage. The pacing was TRASH, the characters were choppily animated, the lighting was inconsistent, and the characters were bland. I get that this series is made for all ages but this show seems made for literal 6 year olds. Now I'm only a teen but even I know quality. Wow. This. Sucked.

This is really bad
mouar19 April 2022
Since the first movie going to the second movie the artstyle changed to a less of quality. Which was okay to a degree, sure I didn't like it but I never would've imagined the tv series would be worse.

The characters are VERY poorly animated the background looks so undetailed and blank not to mention the physics in the tv show are so horrific that even a 5 year old could make better physics visualization in a drawing than in this tv show.

You don't need to even watch the first episode to notice that, just on the dreamworks intro you can see how bad it really is. This seems like a really bad youtube copy series that someone with barely any animating skills would make. The animators should put more time on making the animations detailed than absolute trash, I personally prefer quality than the time it takes till release.

Extremely bad series
quolzski10 January 2024
The Croods Family Tree series falls short of expectations, delivering a lackluster viewing experience that pales in comparison to the original movie. The storyline lacks depth and originality, feeling like a recycled version of familiar themes. Character development is disappointingly shallow, with the main characters lacking the charm and complexity that made the Croods so endearing in the first place.

Furthermore, the animation quality leaves much to be desired. The visuals lack the vibrant and captivating elements that one would expect from an animated series, making it challenging to stay fully engaged. The overall execution feels rushed, and it's evident that corners were cut in the production process.

While the premise had the potential for expansion and exploration of the Crood family dynamics, the series fails to capitalize on these opportunities. It often feels like a forced continuation rather than a natural evolution of the Croods' adventures, leaving viewers questioning the necessity of the series in the first place.

In summary, The Croods Family Tree series struggles to recapture the magic of the original movie, offering a subpar narrative, underdeveloped characters, and lackluster animation that ultimately leaves audiences wanting more from this once-beloved franchise.
