Isabell has a past she'd rather keep secret
Tweekums14 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
After their training is over it looks like Isabell and Pontus will soon be leaving in fact Isabell was due to leave immediately after completing her training but stays on when she when she recognises a woman killed during a break in. Over the course of the episode we learn a lot more about Isabell; first we learn that she trains in mixed martial arts, then when they go to arrest a suspect at a match one of the competitors recognises her but he thinks she is called Rebekka. Over the course of the episode we learn that she had a very different life before she joined the police and changed her name to get away from a dangerous ex-boyfriend. The main suspect in the murder case is the woman's ex-boyfriend although once he is arrested it becomes clear that he didn't actually do it although he was probably there when it happened, unfortunately he is too scared to say who actually did it. The person who did it was Isabell's ex and he and his brother are making life so difficult for her that she decides to take her side-arm. This turns out to be a mistake when it gets stolen and used to kill her ex in front of her house. It looks like her career is over just as it was starting but Pontus and later Kurt are willing to help her. There is a minor secondary story concerning Katarina's daughter's involvement in the theft of a box of mobile phones; while the crime isn't connected to the murders the way her daughter is dealt with helps Kurt to persuade Katrina to deal with Isabell's mistake in a similarly forgiving way.

As this season approaches its conclusion there is no let up in the quality of the stories. This one is very much centred an Isabell and Pontus; Nina Zanjani and Sverrir Gudnason do very well in the roles which made me care about the characters and although the ending suggested they would be leaving the Ystad police I hope a reason will be found to keep them there. With just one episode left to air I hope a third series will be commissioned.

Isabelle's Secret
Hitchcoc6 December 2015
Isabelle's career as a cop is in jeopardy. When she was younger she got into mess involving drugs. She has a love of mixed martial arts, but as she attends a match, a man she used to have a romantic relationship with recognizes her and wants to pursue her. The problem is that he was in prison and she has moved on. However, there are some really bad guys who are involved in gambling, forming a kind of evil triangle. The human element enters here when Kurt must decide whether to follow procedure and wash the young woman out. There is ls also a problem with Katarina's daughter who is starting to act out. This is a more human episode. I guess the reason for the success of this series is that the characters care about each other and know that mistakes can be made. They also realize that there is a price to pay at times.

Quality return to form

Warning: Spoilers
After the last two episodes exhibited worrying tendencies of mirroring the production values of the Branagh version this episodes shows a return to form. No shaky camera work and bleached out visuals in this episode. Perhaps the season change had something to do with it as Ystad glows in all those autumn yellows and reds. Especially interesting was a back story involving Isabell's bad girl past and her former relationship with a handsome none-too-bright young boxer and his amoral brother. Here's hoping that if Krister Henriksson refuses to countenance a season 3 the show can do a Taggart and outlive its lead character.

From Argentina
Nice episode and some sadness because there are such a few of episodes left.

But...I wonder why the episode of Pontus's baby was aired if they never mentioned again that he has a family?

Not even he himself or Kurt or Isabelle seem to remember that kid.

That's weird.

Looks like a plot hole.

Regards from Argentina.
