My wife and I like to watch these sort of made for TV movies and say the lines before the actors do and guess the various plot moves before they happen. This one was pretty good. We got a lot of the lines so the dialogue was not too original but several plot twists totally caught us by surprise. The acting was OK soap opera level, neither of us understand why the women are always so emotional and weak! She constantly shouts at the TV once you get him down finish him!! I guess the writers want to keep the story going but women are really tougher than that. Overall a reasonably interesting way to spend 90 minutes.

Tara Miller: Missing!!!

Tara Miller is a superstar student getting ready to head off to college. Early in the film, she dumps her summer boyfriend, Ryan, who is not pleased with getting the bum's rush. Tara has not not informed her family that she had picked up Tom on a dating ap and had been seeing him, prior discarding him so that she can focus on college without any baggage. Then, suddenly, Tara goes missing!!!
"Sister With a Secret" was a by-the-numbers film about kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment. The filmmakers cleverly set up different possibilities for the perp. In addition to Ryan, a clear suspect is Alex, who shares a friendship with Tara. But Alex may want a little more than friendship.
Then, there is Tara's stepfather Tom, who, while divorced from Tara's mom Janet, still apparently maintains a desk in in their home where he works. His connection to Tara seems a little too overprotective. Tom's lost his own daughter Mackensie, who died in an apparent drunk driving accident. Tom is especially zealous in the efforts to locate the missing Tara.
The climactic scene and major revelation was an over-the-top and clumsily choreographed struggle. Tara's quick-thinking sister Jess made a beeline for the house when she finally recognizes who is the perp. The use of a shovel that Jess grabbed inside the home tended to stretch credibility in this frenetic sequence.
The most memorable character was Janet Miller, the devoted mom who will stop at nothing to locate her daughter. There was nice chemistry between the mother and her two daughters and a convincing tenacity in the quest to locate and bring Tara home.

Tara, a senior, has a mother, a sister and a stepdad. But she also has a few guys who are in the mix and they both like Tara. Suddenly, Tara goes missing after a party. Who kidnapped her and why? The movie was a little predictable but worth a watch!

A Lifetime Winner

I guess I grade on a curve when it comes to Lifetime movies. I watch them all of the time. Most of the time they are fine for killing a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. They are never really that bad. Every once in a while they surprise you. "Sister with a Secret" (that's the title under which I saw this movie) was one that surprised me. As Lifetime movies go, this one delivered the goods. The story was a good one. The movie had quite a bit of suspense. But what really make this movie as enjoyable as it was is the cast. The cast was very strong. "Sister with a Secret" gets the ultimate Lifetime movie compliment from me: I'd be willing to watch it again.
