- When a brother and sister fall in love with the same man, ensuing events shatter a traditional Marathi family. Based on Sachin Kundalkar's novel.
- Tanay Vidhyadhar Dixit (Dr. Neelay Mehendale) studies at a college in Kochi and lives with his joint family. A few years ago, his father moved to Kerela from Maharashtra, and then forced the rest of the family to move. The kids didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to their friends. Anuja (Anjali Sivaraman) is Tanay's sister, and Aseem (Anant V Joshi) is his brother. Sharda (Geetanjali Kulkarni) is his mother, & Father Mr. Dixit (Shishir Sharma). A sister (Poornima Indrajith) is close to the family and shares a special bond with Anuja.
Tanay's grandfather dies (& soon thereafter his grandmother too). He is looking forward to finally getting a room to himself, where he can read and write in peace. Tanay is a big MJ fan and is looking forward to his upcoming concert in Mumbai. Tanay has a Literature teacher (Neil Bhoopalam). Tanay spends a lot time at his teacher's house, reading books etc. and is a teacher's pet (although there is a mutual attraction between the two). He is being pressured to join the student political group on campus but refuses consistently. Tanay has gay tendencies.
Mr. Dixit decides to rent out the grandfather's upstairs room to a paying guest and promptly the new person (Prateik Babbar) moves in. Very little is known about the PG, except that his father was the ambassador to France. Tanay is attracted to him. He soon falls for the PG and has fantasies about having sex with him. The PG takes Tanay out at night, and they share a kiss & have sex by the side of a lake, in complete darkness. Tanay starts enjoying his moments with PG. Eventually, they start having sex at home, in the PGs room. Anuja and the PG are super rude to each other. But Anuja finds him handsome, and wants to see his room, which has been refused by her father. She starts putting on deodorant and creams to attract attention from the PG.
As Tanay is spending time with the PG, naturally, he is ignoring his literature teacher. The family wants to get Anuja married, as they want to marry her before Aseem (who has a wedding proposal from an admiral's daughter). The news of Anuja's matchmaking saddens the sister. Anuja wants to play Hockey for the national team and has no plans to get married. One night, PG tells Tanay that he wants to sleep alone that night. Tanay agrees, reluctantly. That night Anuja leaves home with PG. Tanay is shocked to find that they were having an affair.
Anuja returns after Aseem's engagement. She tells Tanay that PG left her in Pondicherry and wasn't seen for 2 days. Anuja is put under house arrest by her family. Sister meets Anuja and confirms to the family, that Anuja and PG had sex, but with condoms. Tanay is heartbroken. Tanay has sex with his literature teacher. Tanay wants to know where Anuja met PG, and when. But she keeps quiet. Both Anuja and Tanay feel cheated by the PG
The family wants Anuja to marry Aseem's friend Chetan, who lives in London. Tanay refuses to have sex with his teacher anymore, and he says that soon Tanay will find himself alone and lonely. As same gender sex is a crime in India. Meanwhile Anuja asks the sister to post a letter from her to the Hockey Association of India, her application to join the women's hockey team. Sharda & Aseem burn the PG's luggage, but Tanay manages to save some bits and pieces as the room is emptied and ready for hosting the wedding guests.
Tanay returns to the teacher and gets a blank, signed letterhead from him, in exchange for sex. Tanay posts the letter to his house, stating that he has been selected for the International Writing Program that starts in Delhi in a week. Anuja can't understand why Tanay has been angry with her ever since she got back. She says sorry. Tanay leaves the house. Meanwhile Anuja is also selected by the Hockey Association of India, as coach of the Nagaland Junior Hockey Team. Anuja runs away on the day of Aseem's wedding.
She takes a ship to Calcutta. In her bag, she finds naked photos of Tanay and the PG together, which Tanay had put there. Anuja finally understands Tanay's pain. Tanay roams the country and writes poems. He writes his novel "Cobalt Blue" (the color that PG used to paint with). The book is nominated for a literary award. PG finds the book in a bookstore and smiles.
