Very funny
francoisnmartin4 July 2022
This show is original with the mockumentary format and very funny. Obviously, people who have zero interest in gaming may not like it as much but anyone who has even a passing interest in gaming and esports will appreciate this show. I don't understand the bad reviews.

Not a bad start...
99brendanallen17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously I'll update my rating later as the series progresses, but its not a bad start. Minor spoilers below but its only from the trailer

From the creators of American Vandall, I was excited to see them create a new series in a whole new environment..the eSport scene. The mockumentary is good. Played from actors/actresses I never heard of before, they're not bad. Coming from a documentary perspective, its a good story so far of following a team that is struggling to meet its expectations from Creamcheese saying (as in the trailer).. seven championships. And coming from someone who has played video games and queued up in competitive gaming, its good to see a game that I haven't played (and one of the biggest) eSport leagues in action. There are some good laughs here and there.

For those who haven't seen any eSports action, I feel like this is a decent watch. It gave me a bit more of an insight on what esport teams are like and the process they go through for each game. Its definitely different than grouping up with a few people and putting your own individual skills to the test while communicating and grouping as a team. I feel like this has more potential. Its only four episodes and its off to a great start.

If you're a fan of League, you'll love it, if you're a fan of american vandal, you may or may not like it
Peanutman20209 July 2022
I don't like League as a game at all, but gave this a shot because I loved American Vandal and Arcane was amazing. While there are good bits in there, there are ultimately too many League references for the average viewer to enjoy.

An Excellent Mockumentary
Ianoys773517 June 2022
This is made by the creators of the amazingly funny Amercian Vandal. The series is shot in a convincingly realistic documentary style, and follows the journey of a fictional League of Legends E-sports team.

The characters are fleshed out nicely and the acting is surprisingly good. They are not generic "gamer-boy" cutouts and the main characters have their own interesting backstories and motivations.

As a result, different personalities within the team clash and create conflict in a way that feels convincing and effectively drives the story.

Humour-wise, it's not in-your-face funny, but there are quite a few good laughs in there if you're paying attention.

The show doesn't hold your hand but is watchable as a newcomer to the gaming/e-sports scene. However some familiarity with the competitive scene will help you understand some of the more subtle jokes as well as appreciate the many cameos.

I hate that this is getting so many 1-star reviews but I can understand why. It's not a very obvious show but it's absolutely worth watching if you're looking for something that's just unique and different enough to be fresh and enjoyable.

What's with the bad reviews? I liked it
Tomwang198918 June 2022
Seriously look at jaronhatcher's review he created a brand new account just to 1-star review bomb the show with no reason except "its bad". Is there some sort of controversy or something like with Moon Knight?

This is a really good show in the style of Netflix's American Vandal. If you enjoy the League competitive scene you're sure to enjoy this show as well, it really looks like there was a lot of hard work put into this unique series.

If you're confused about the score, check the demographics of the reviews
alexgilles199124 June 2022
Edit (after episode 8): This show started off as a great concept that was well done and has evolved into a surprisingly compelling and realistic show (while still being funny). You know a show is well done when you're sitting there rooting for players that aren't even real. They really are knocking this show out of the park and I can't sing its praises enough.

I hopped on here after watching the show so far expecting to see a high score considering how much I enjoyed it, only to be surprised that it has gotten terrible reviews. Click on the score and check out the age demographics of the reviews and it makes a little more sense.. It seems like the primary demographic for this age group is enjoying the show while older viewers are absolutely trashing it.

Is the show perfect? No, but when is a mockumentary perfect? It has the same feel as American Vandal (sort of over the top using the documentary style to tell a fun story) using the setting of the LCS as the backdrop.

I can't speak to what the show is like for those who haven't watched the LCS/professional league but its a funny show that touches on what the scene is like now with a great dose of nostalgia for the wild west era of esports.

Hommage to NA
kruemlkeks16 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It feels more like a big homage to lol /the na scene than a mockumentary. This and the collaboration with riot and the casters are the biggest positives i would say.

What i didnt like, mistakes in my opinion: I understand that you want to cut back in time to Show the Characters grow and develop. I think they are a couple of times where a point/trait gets shown twice or more Times. I dont think thats needed when we are already introduced to these Situations/cutbacks and does Not help the pacing in the first half of the season to my feeling.

You can feel that they people who made it, have some idea about lol or they did have some good consultants (LCS cast?). However there are a couple small mistakes (end of ep 6 or 7 i think "we go in Level 3...i have ult in 10" and a couple more) which are only a bit annoying. But then the bigger plot one: creamcheese gets called the goat, carries the team by (Not shown) amazing Support Play and his shot calling is top notch. Organizm on the other hand is supposed to be the mechanical gifted prodigy. In the beginning He lacks a lot of macro knowledge, but after Not even one season, He did Not only improved a lot, He also overtakes his "captain"/Support in his smart calls, to become the difference maker. To make those macro mistakes in the beginning, after being a Star Streamer for some time is...weird. I thought this development was overly dramatized.

I also did Not like that they only went into tactical aspects like Pick and ban very late into the season.

I think thats what kinda annoys me, the show doesnt really stay for one Potential viewerbase, at points it is shallow enough for people who dont know League but in other it goes to far for them.

But it is Well produced and shot and like i said, the collaboration with LCS and the casters makes it feel really good.

Big recommend for Fans of League, you will probably like the insinuations at early LCS, clg hotshot, doublelift and tsm baylife and all those moments and memes.

Brilliant Writing...e-sports Last Dance
labamboos23 June 2022
Ignore the poor reviews. This show really provided a great 1st quarter. The characters are believable and relateable. Particularly Org for me, as an introvert gamer. Although I don't play LOL and was hard to keep up with some of the terms, the core story was universal and strong. Friendship, Family & Passion. Can't wait for the rest of it.

No comedy at all.
juspoppinin19 June 2022
Even as someone who never watched Esports, this is quite a good mockumentary. Good acting, great plot, but comedy? Nope. There is nothing remotely funny about this. They probably just couldn't find any other genre to put it under.

surprisingly good
felixnkubi18 June 2022
I am no gamer, Never even played league of legends once in my life but this show is so good, I feel like it might be a positive boost to the gaming industry! The plot, story, suspense, comedy have been mixed all together so well, it's like watching a reality show but way better!

Not realistic enough
kriegarts19 June 2022
Unlike other "mockumentaries" such as. The King of Kong and even Spinal Tap, at no point does this seem like it might be an actual documentary. The script is too over the top and its obvious that these are actors. The makers have tried too hard to get as many little comical hits as they can into each scene that it just becomes "wacky". Good mockumentaries seem real enough that people think they're real or at least question if they might be real. Players falls short of this and sits in an awkward position of not being a sitcom and not being a true mockumentary.

Give it a chance
blackwolf_redeye1 July 2022
Ignore the low rating, this show is really good, remember it's a mockumentary so not real. It's not as funny as American Vandel and I do not think that is the point.

It has good drama, if you are someone who plays Video games you will feel the story and for sure enjoy it.

I like the way the story progresses, it makes you hate a character then love them the next episode, only few shows can do that.

Give it a chance and watch it. It is worth your time and definitely should be rated higher than 6. Just look at the episodes rating they all average above 8.5.

This is a great concept.
SpaceEskimo21 June 2022
I'm a huge longtime fan of e-Sports in general and I've played League of Legends so I might have a stronger connection to this particular genre but the over the top dialog and making fun of the way some professional players and CEO's live and act was parody 101. The organization itself "Fugitive Gaming" is a parody of teams like Team SoloMid and FaZe Clan, with the internal conflicks and drama on full display through a mockumentary-style direction which I thought was a great avenue to showcase an underappreciated yet still growing sport.

One of the most authentic series i've watched
tafor-1190723 June 2022
It's meant to be a silly series about pro league of legends players and i am not really a league fan so i dismissed it but then i watched it cause It seemed to be trending and i was curious and even though it has moments of absurd silliness, it's so real. The plotline, the writing, the camera work, the audio when the camera enters a documentary style setting. This was truly a directorial masterpiece. The acting leaves something to be desired but everything else about this series was masterful in my opinion.

It's a Mockumentary and a Great One at That!
riggsjackie15 July 2022
If you like a comedic edge on the world of gamers, you'll love this show. If you are too serious to enjoy satire, this show is not for you. Creamcheese character is so over the top funny at times and the rest of the cast play into his ego with brillance..

How can anymore make dumb shows that are about video game people. Dumb. I don't know what they want to make crap shows like this but apparently they keep making them. Less and less good shows anymore.

Fans of American Vandal will love this
deriksmith-0120726 June 2022
This show expertly walks the line of comedy and Drama similar to American Vandal. You don't need to be a fan of League of Legends to enjoy this show, as they have a character that serves as the audience in this regard and gets things explained to him.

7.3 Your Kidding
john-norman-244-87706826 December 2022
I have watched three gaming videos, King Avatar, Love O2O, and Falling into Your Smile before watching this. This is not good. Any of the others is so much better that it is comparing a great meal to a warm bucket of spit. Uninteresting characters, uninteresting plot, uninteresting pretty much describes this show. The others are pretty good to great. Personal favorite is Falling into Your Smile. This show is really lame. I need to say more until I've reached the character threshold so save your time and watch something better. If not one of my picks then, the news, weather or watch paint drying all are better.

This is entertaining as hell
jasonmodisett17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Much more grounded than American Vandal (another outstanding series) and a lot of the jokes are more subtle but they are there and plentiful.

The actors, all of them, are insanely talented. I found myself questioning if this was a real or fake documentary on multiple occasions.

I really can't wait for the rest of the series. I'm surprised at how well they were able to make me actually care for these characters and want to see everyone win.

The lead is a total narcissistic douche but I'm hoping he has at least a small redemption arc with how much of the story they're filling with him.

And the way they got me to feel for Organizm, just wanting to play the big leagues with his idols and his favorite team - only to realize how egotistical they were. Icing on the cake.

Can totally relate to this show especially ep 7. Many people just don't understand the corporate side of esports. Hope it gets renewed for a 2nd season.

Great show
rjklein2020 June 2022
I don't like reality shows of pretty much any kind, but this show as absolutely outstanding (the first four eps I've seen anyways). I played league as a non-ranked player for years, and haven't played a game in almost two years, but still love watching it, and so I understand the nuances of the game, and so this show really clicks with me.

You definitely need to love playing/watching (or both) LoL to enjoy the show, because without it, you just won't understand it and it won't make sense.

That said, if you don't like LoL, then don't watch this, and definitely don't review it, because the people that would actually like it won't give a rat's behind what you think about it. It would be like me reviewing an opera. I can't stand them and so will definitely not like it, and so I don't review them, because that wouldn't make sense.

Imagine Documentary Now Style but for Esports.
williamdphillips17 June 2022
One of the best mockumentary shows recently I know its early but even after 4 episodes the show is fantastic. The way they play it straight as a normal sports documentary with the talking head interviews, gameplay videos, and especially the musical scoring that makes it seem like an NFL or NBA documentary make it even greater. Easily one of the better produced shows of the year and all the more impressive is the genre switch from American Vandal.

IGNORE THE REVIEW BOMBS MIGHT BE A 9 NOT A 10 BUT THIS SHOW IS NOT A 6. 13 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes at a 93% 2 days after 4 episode release. DONT LISTEN TO THE IDIOTS UNDDERRATING BECAUSE THEYRE IGNORANT.

Great Comedy
soltanialexander7 July 2022
This show did its homework on the League of Legends Esports scene. Both how cool it can be, and how ridiculous. You can tell they put a lot of work into the show. When I showed the trailer to a friend, he said "I don't even remember a player named Creamcheese.", because he thought this show was a real documentary. This show is funny for everyone, not just people who play LoL, but even people who don't play games at all. I have to give two thumbs up to the creators (who also made American Vandal) and all the LoL people involved in the show. I am only on episode 6, but I already cannot wait for season 2.

P. S.

There is only 2 reasons you might not like this show.

1. You take Esports too seriously.

2. You play DOTA.

Criminally Underrated
starkillernico14 July 2022
Remember that first season of the office? People called it cringe, and it had a smaller audience but after awhile this was the comedy people grew a taste for. How many people do you know that call the office one of their favorite shows? Okay now this show incapsulates that to a T. There are cringe moments and the humor is there you just have to understand it's a mockumentory. This show is one of my favorite shows ever. To be fair I love league of legends AND the esports scene for it, so I am automatically pumped to watch it. There is more to the show than understanding either of those concepts though. This show doesn't force you to understand ANYTHING before getting into the show. This show does a fantastic job at walking you through the universe and how esports works and then from there you have a good well thought out comedy drama mockumentory. I give this show a 10 and I recommend it to everyone, my parents, my girlfriend and they are all interested, so do yourself a favor and give it a try.
