I watched it with my whole family, they enjoyed it. Maybe because of these comedy scenes. Probably I'm rating it 3 as it is a family movie and watched it with them. Besides that the story doesn't make sense. Really what kind of story is this? Are we living in late 90s??

Worst horror, where they will show no ghost.

I couldn't accept or digest VJ in 👑 role. He gave a worst performance.
Villain poisoned his wife and she is dying. He didn't even shows little rage on his face. Director Maintaining he is too good a person that..he won't even shows anger towards enemy. 😂😂 I never saw a king with "Max showroom kurthas"cheap budget.
And he is a king with zero servants and security in palace.
I gave 3 star since my daughter enjoyed and laughed at few instances. Nowadays director thinks people will see whatever dumb movies they produce.

Can't believe Vijay Sethupathi agreed to do such a poorly written script. It's a clichéd story but could have been executed well. Every character was out of place. The comedy was forced. I finished the movie waiting for some high point, that maybe something interesting will happen, but to know avail. And Tapsee's character is downright irritating. What a waste!

I gave this movie two stars and both two are for the set and costumes. Cringey comedy coupled with too many comedians who think they're being funny, when they're just ready to laugh at their own jokes. Nothing in this movie works, from the horrible graphics to the non existent plot. The background music also seems quite out of place sometimes and all the acting feels so wooden. The basic dialogue and script too is silly and all the words spoken feel so repetitive. I feel like Yogi Babu's character at the end of all this, too tired to bother. I know guilty pleasure comedy so stupid that I laugh at it, but I can't imagine kids laughing at this.
A Comedy With An Interesting Premise, But Flat Execution !!!

At the outset, let's make it very clear that Annabelle Sethupathi is not your typical pei padam. Even though the film involves ghosts, a palace and a bunch of comedians, it is not a horror comedy, like the Aranmanai franchise. In fact, the ghosts in the place are actually ones looking for salvation. In fact, they are ghosts who do not want to scare away the people who enter their place.
At a conceptual level, this is an interesting take to have for a film with ghosts, and the rest of Annabelle Sethupathi, too, has many ideas that are good on paper. An extraordinary palace that has been built by experts from different continents. A ghost who prepares a feast. A protagonist who has past-life regressions, but isn't too bothered by them. An antagonist who is a clueless ghost. A romance between two individuals who are from different cultures and speak different languages. The extravagant lifestyle of the kings of the yesteryears. A climax that doesn't involve the clichéd ghost-getting-its-revenge idea.
However, the trouble is that all these remain exciting only as ideas. The film is filled with flatly-directed scenes that lack the rhythm that comedy needs. It relies solely on the actors, who are sporting enough to act ridiculously, to make the scenes funny. Take the scene in which Rajendra Prasad, who plays one of the thieves, prances around a room with a sword thinking he is all alone. Unfortunately for him, Chetan and Devadarshini, who are ghosts, happen to be in the very same room, and seeing him with a sword, Chetan, who was royalty when he was alive, decides to join him. But all that Rajendra Prasad can see is a sword fighting him on its own. He runs away in panic, and Chetan, realising that he has scared the guy, runs after him, apologising for scaring him. But all that the former can see is a sword that's after him, which only doubles his fear. This is something that should have been instantly funny on screen, but going by the way it is directed, it only comes across as childish.
Unfortunately, much of the humour in the film is of this kind. Perhaps, the idea was to make the film appeal to kids, like the Muni franchise, which, despite its faults, also has strong melodrama to ensure that the adults are engaged as well. Here, in trying to keep things light at all times, the director takes away every hint of drama, so even tragic moments do not affect us as they should.
Things get somewhat better in the second half, with Vijay Sethupathi and Taapsee making a broadly written romance work. Plus, the actors are in good form. Radikaa Sarathkumar gets to channel Yogi Babu in a scene and it is fun to see the veteran act in a comic role. While he has been funnier in many films, Yogi Babu manages to make us chuckle a few times with his one-liners and anchors the motley bunch of supporting actors. The director smartly uses this character to lend a self-aware vibe to the film, commenting on the horror movie tropes that we come across in our films. In the end, you feel like having watched a film in which the cast and crew seem to have had fun making it.

Please don't waste your 2 hrs 14 min in watching this trash. I got the notification on my mobile from hotstar for this movie and started watching it just for tapsee. But she's expressionless here! Cringe dialogues, worst songs!!

If you are stressed out, watch this light-hearted horror comedy.
Yeah if you are bored, don't watch, you will end up more bored. Writing is kind of poor, does not make any logical sense.
The reason I am writing this review is that, it does not take good writing to catch attention. This film is pleasantly new, silly but not copied from anywhere, very fresh.
Surprisingly the love story is beautiful. Maybe I should not be surprised though considering the acting quality of Tapsee Pannu and Vijay Sethupathi. Tapsee brings a certain energy to this film, it seems real despite the nonsense script. Vijay Sethupathi is at his usual cult-classic best.
Definitely watch it in Tamil.

As mentioned in subject, there is absurd screenplay.the worst part is tapsee pannu acting, she acts the same as she did in past movies, no changes. Face expressions are dull. I watched the movie only vijay 😎 but he directors has wasted his talent.

Its so unfortunate that political agendas r so strong that IT cells manipulate fake ratings. This movie is the worst movie to have come in years, and i have seen really horrible ones. What a complete mess, a hotch potch screenplay of all kinds of childish gibberish.
The worst - Taapsee's one note acting. She is overhyped i feel. She acts good but cant show variety. Same kind of acting in every film.

Don't waste your precious 2 hours and 14 minutes of your life as this movie is utter trash. I had high hopes with this movie but even watching this movie for mere 5 min gives a terrible headache. The jokes in the movie are something which will won't even make you laugh and even the storyline is completely lacking.

Don't watch this movie to get horror effects. I liked storyline of the movie.. It is very difficult process to make a ghost in a comedy way... Because of that some may not be liking this movie. When a horror movie is made they use sound effects, low light effects, etc to make or create the adrenaline rush through the viewers body... But if the fear is not the factor then how we can create the ghost effect effectively... This is only a comedy piece with horror category. So don't worry about watching the movie if you are having time. Watch the movie without any expectations, then it will give some results..

Story revolves around a palace where people who enter the palace and eats food on a full moon day dies. The ghosts in the place wanted to move out of the palace.
Story - 1/10 such a worst story I have ever seen, even a 10 year old kid could write a better script than this Comedy - 3/10 - I couldn't think about a single scene where I laughed. It was such a dull comedy Horror - 0/10 - there are no horror scenes, Not at all intresting to watch the movie Acting - 3/10 - Potential actors are underutilised, and there are some dumb people, whose presence literally make nothing to the story.
Final verdict - Please DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE.
