Ignore the elite haters!
brashbuzz1 July 2022
For those that consistently rate shows like this low after claiming to have watched only one episode when clearly they have only stuck it out for 5 minutes, they know they aren't going to like it in the first place so why watch it & then rate it? You are wasting both yours and everyone else's time! I don't like romance movies, would I rate one? No.

If you want a semi mindless reality show to watch that's a bit of fun whilst seeing how unbelievable it is to see how some 'kids' (into their mid 20s) are leeching off their parents and how they cope in a situation they were not expecting or are accustomed to - this is quite entertaining! I laughed and there were a lot of very human moments as well.

Will it win an Emmy? No. Was it entertaining? Yes. I would be more than happy to see a second series of it too.

Seems real to me

I watched the first Episode on a lark and wound up binging it.

The Snowflakes grow on you! And they morph into real people! Well, some do.

It's a fun watch. The end is the best part!!

It's a Hot Dog, not a Steak
laudeus25 June 2022
10 spoiled brats get flown to a wilderness toughening program, apparently under the impression it would be a retreat. The first challenge? Walk across some bumpy ground. Other lessons include "Can you lower a rope?" and "Can I survive without my makeup?" (which turns out to be irrelevant - false eyelashes, liquid liner, and wigs endure the hardships better than the contestants' egos).

Hard to believe there are people as dumb and entitled as these? That's the point. This is a reality show more like Real Housewives than Alone, but with the addition of a warm fuzzy narrative about personal growth and overcoming self-limiting beliefs. The characters start out unrelatable, but surprisingly grow on you if you let them. The rules are a bit "make it up as you go along" and the "reality" of it is less believable than a Christopher Guest mockumentary (the coaches "spy" on the contestants from "hidden" cams that are obviously hand held by camera operators). But this is a narrative, not a competition.

Thematically, it's the antithesis of the precocious independence exhibited in Japan's "Old Enough." That might not speak highly of Western society, but it may make you feel a personal sense of accomplishment (and superiority) if you've managed to do a load of laundry in the past month. Why do we watch Hoarders or My 600-lb Life? So we can say "At least that's not me," and "Maybe there IS hope for people like that."

If you want steak, look elsewhere, but if you want some good beef filler, check it out!

It's Better than you think!
stevendean-0582626 June 2022
This show gets better as it goes on. Don't rule it out after the first episode! It's interesting to see personal growth in some of the participants. :-)

Fake Fake Fake

1)Spoiled kids that can leave at anytime. (They wouldn't stick around at all) 2)Prise 50k. (They are rich wearing high end brands and parents buy them everything 50k is nothing to them) 3)The kids do everything the guys say. (If they don't do what their parents say why would they do everything 2 strangers say)

It's exactly what you think it is.
MackStrong25 June 2022
You either like these shows or you don't, either is ok. Just as long as you're not one of those d-bags who need to rant about how stupid reality TV is so that they can feel better about their sad, empty lives.

Can't comprehend these are legal adults.
dking206326 June 2022
It is amusing to actually see and understand there are adults(over 18) that are this clueless to any work ethic or survival skills. It is primarily the parents fault, but how can these individuals be so unmotivated at such a young age. A few seem to change their thinking, but if the parents don't change there is no hope.

It's actually pretty good!
siobhan_5028 June 2022
Went into this completely sceptical and during the first episode I thought it was a fake reality show with actors. However it ended up being a bunch of instagrammers on a journey of personal growth. Addictive!

Bad acting
It would be funny if they actually did this for real but it's clearly a bunch of underrated actors who never mastered the poker face.

The fact it's scripted takes away the shock factor because there isn't any because it's not real.

Get some real snowflakes instead of bad actors who know exactly what they've signed up for.

Much better than expected.
sage-2668323 June 2022
The way the media portrayed this series I thought I was in for a "making fun of liberals" smackdown. The reality is the show is not that at all. The only edgy bit is the beginning and the title. The rest of the show is a delightful story of a group of self-centered people learning to become a team and growing through pushing their limits. Politics is not brought up once and the hosts seem like they really care about helping these kids grow, not making fun of them.

A cute show, I thought
amyrach-3271810 February 2024
Don't listen to all the negative reviews. They come from the same people that rate every reality tv show a 1, after only watching '1 episode', yet continue to watch reality tv and say how bad ot sucks. We get it, you dont like reality tv and you think its all scripted, but why then continue to watch it?

Anyways I thought this show was great. You're introduced to a lot of very unlikeable young adults, who turn into a lot of 'kids' that kinda melt your heart. I say kids because as you watch them grow you realize that they are still kids whom have parents that never forced them to grow up. I'm the mother of a pretty spoiled teen myself. Its interesting though to see the difference in attitudes between the 2 Brits, who are always happy and having fun, and the Americans, who are negative, angry, and play victim for a living.

The reason I really enjoyed this show is because a lot of these kids are actually entertaining and funny, which is something you dont often see in reality tv anymore. Take for instance the people cast in shows like Survivor and Big Brother, shows I used to like, but the casting has gotten attrocious over the years with people who have zero personality.

The only thing I didn't like about the show was the prize to one of them whom 'have grown the most'. So the people who had positive attitudes from the start had zero chance of winning. There's no reason any of these people deserved that prize over anyone else. It was biased and pointless and I think it took away from the narrative that this was about growth.

I would continue to watch future seasons.

Fake with no real entertainment value.
smartass137923 June 2022
It's very obvious that the show is fake and these people are caricatures of real people. Point where you don't connect with anybody there and you don't care if they make it or not. Netflix do better.

Stick with it!
csab-3979729 June 2022
It's actually pretty good for a reality show. You have to get through the first 1.5 episodes and it does start to pick up and change happens.. it's a light watch. I'm surprised by its low review. I'd expect maybe a 6 but a 4? Naaa it's better then some of the other shows in the same genre.

I don't have much more to say... it's not a new concept... why do I have to keep writing !

Not sure how to rate it 0

Warning: Spoilers
Premise is interesting. Actuality is not, two episodes in and this is nothing more than trying to build up some cheap drama. Survival, what a joke, this is glamping at its finest. Forage and survive in the woods = here is a bunch of food you have to lower from a tree. This show wants to make fun of "snowflakes" yet to even an amateur camper/anyone who goes outside, this show is a snowflake itself.

Good Reality TV
seekersbears13 August 2022
I'd like to preface this by saying I don't watch reality TV. I started this with my husband because it was suggested to us by family who'd seen it and described it to us as it being funny to watch a bunch of spoiled brats left on a mountain to fend for themselves. As someone who grew up camping in the midwest, what I saw on the show would definitely qualify as glamping, aka "glamorous camping", to me, so it was VERY funny to watch them complain about the living conditions. The only thing that could've made it funnier is if the show occasionally panned to a normal family having a good time camping in way crappier living conditions for fun because that's usually the case for most of us. However, the show was a lot more engrossing than I thought it would be! We binged it and we don't normally binge-watch.

There is nothing deep about the show, but I cannot deny it was enjoyable to watch this group go through so much change so quickly. It has all the over dramatic trappings of reality TV, and I often doubted whether it was all real or not. That's still up for debate to me, but at the end of the day it was genuinely heartwarming to see the change everyone went through. The person who won at the end 100% deserved it and I hope everyone who was on the show really got something good out of it. It was certainly entertaining to watch them!

MTV 2.0
dnarramore-4347926 June 2022
Seriously Netflix, are you trying to kill your streaming.... This is show is BS and is reminiscent of 80' s 90's MTV. Get better content or follow blockbuster and get your offices ready for Spirit Halloween!

They had the potential to do something really cool
polkadotsun4 July 2022
The wilderness is the ideal place to learn and grow. It has been *the* classroom for children and adults alike throughout the vast majority of human history. People who have experience and expertise in outdoor environments should be educators and leaders, not bullies. Our hosts spend the entire show mocking, belittling, and underestimating participants. NOLs and Outward Bound schools abandoned the boot camp mentality decades ago in favor of an individualized and curiosity based approach that respect the needs and personal values of each student. As an outdoor professional, it's disheartening to see the regression back to "macho military man is superior to city kids" attitude. This show caters to people that want to watch Gen Z, PoC, and effeminate people suffer. I'm certain that not one of these participants is going to return to their everyday lives as better contributors to their families or communities.

Starts Exaggerated But Ends Up Enjoyable
calvinowencalvinowen22 June 2022
The mean spirited start quickly rolls off into a relatively warm show that is perfect for easy watching or background tv that is nice. The challenges or setting is defiantly not as difficult as made out to be but given the subjects it does push them even slightly.

From a reality tv fan...
kristinadavis-4040723 June 2022
Most reality tv, we can easily establish, isn't reality, it's merely fluff. That said, this showcases exaggerated caricatures of spoiled children. Alternately, the hosts are military veterans who are well versed in survival. It's a clown version of Survivor, because of course, these people don't know how to survive outdoors, their idea of being outdoorsy is eating on a patio. Adding the term "snowflake" is intentional in the desire to create more of a divide between us ALL, as the word has been used in excess politically the past few years (both sides). Way to throw a bigger, dumber wrench into society, Netflix.

So much overacting
craig-fraser8724 July 2022
This felt like one of those history channel type shows where everything is staged and the smallest thing made to seem like it was life changing.

The experts who don't ever do anything to show off their skills.

This perception that they're in the wilderness when it was really shot on an estate in England.

The tasks were never really difficult and the experts praised these idiots for doing basic things you'd expect from an adult.

The lack of intelligence in the "kids" was shocking and typical over the top reactions to any task.

Would have been much better if they were really in the wild and not on some comfy estate.

Give money to people who deserve it
WhyIhateNetflix25 June 2022
Why would tv shows keep giving dumb people a lot of money. There are so many people trying to do amazing things in this world or educate people and instead we promote dumbing down society and reward morons.

Watch the Whole Show
alex103325 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Many of the reviews here are from people who watched the first episode and quit. The first episode especially and the next couple are pretty bad, but the show generally becomes very wholesome and satisfying by the end. Those of you who think the show is scripted are kinda dumb because there is an obviously real injury near the end of the show. At first I thought that it was scripted from the first episode but it quickly becomes clear that it's not.

It's ironic how those of you giving poor reviews after watching the first 10 minutes of the show are entirely missing the very theme of the show, which is watching the growth in all the participants.

Horrible
mlmpsu24 June 2022
This show is so stupid and borderline offensive I actually made an account just to leave it the lowest possible rating. Anyone who watches this, purely a waste of time and brain cells. Can't believe Netflix would sign off on something this bad. Unless you're an angry boomer I would avoid this like the plague.
