Needs staying power

A challenging watch. Seemed very much like a student's submission to a 2nd year film studies assessment. Special effects are something I can do using video editing software and a green screen.

The lead actress is good but let down by poor direction. I hope to see her in some other films.

No way this was a 4 rating.

Stop having friends review your films it makes you look bad. Within the 1st 30 minutes of the film you can tell that this is more of a 1 or 2 rating. The acting is OK the only scary thing about the film are the loud sudden noises or loud music that Blair's out at you. Graphics, special effects are horrible.

Horrible

This movie is SO bad in EVERY way that I won't acknowledge that I've seen it, even if I worked on it myself.

EFFECTIVELY EERIE WITH SEVERAL JUMPY MOMENTS
nataliewalton-2921129 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is an unusual horror film as it deals seriously, I thought, with the subject of mental health. The main character, Emma, has severe anxiety and suffers from panic attacks, all of which is intensified when she becomes the target of a demon called Cain who, it turns out, murdered her twin sister Sarah a year earlier. Her mental illness intensifies the film's suspense and increasingly frightening incidents. It reminded me of the film Copycat in which Sigourney Weaver as an agoraphobic becomes the target of a serial killer.

It's a low budget film but that doesn't stop it from being effectively eerie with several jumpy moments. I'm particularly haunted by the creepy eyes under the bed! Don't expect to see a Hollywood blockbuster with mind-blowing CGI effects, but it does have an effective scene in which Emma, Sam and another friend, Keeley, find themselves in a sort of fiery hell in which they are trapped by Cain.

On the whole the cast is very good, especially Jasmine Hodgson as Emma, and Michael Howard as her boyfriend Sam. Their relationship is a rollercoaster as they both struggle to deal with her mental health, her obsession with her dead twin and the supernatural happenings in their house.

The film has moments of humour, especially the girls-night-in scene in which Emma's best friend Keeley, played by Sarah Jane Gonzales, entertains her girlfriends with funny stories about her work as a nurse. A subtext suggests that there was once more to Emma's relationship with Keeley, and in fact it becomes clear that Keeley loves Emma. The film is also about bereavement, but it is ultimately uplifting in a final emotional scene, but not before Cain attempts to drag her down to whatever hell he came from.

Keeps you on the edge of your seat

If you want a film with a great storyline, that keeps you guessing and have you on the edge of your seat then sit back and enjoy. Considering that the story was filmed on a small budget Michael has managed to create a fabulous film that will allow you time to switch off from the real world and thoroughly enjoy a fantastic storyline. The cast have done a great job portraying the characters Michael has created. Well done all.

Chilling horror!

Thoroughly enjoyed this latest film by Michael Munn. Considering the limitations of independent film making and the challenges of limited budget an excellent piece of work. Well done to all involved.

Well, we enjoyed it!!!

We really enjoyed this film, the acting was good and the narrative moved along at a good pace.

It is an independently produced film without all of the bangs and whistles of a big production company but it worked for us.

There are some very sniffy comments on here about production values and the rating that some people have given this film but there are some people who have given "The Blair Witch Project", a film with no narrative and no production values, 10 out of 10.

Keeps you guessing
elvisgraceland18 August 2021
This film has a plotline to keep you guessing and a cast packed with local talent. There's an overall ominous supernatural atmosphere, dealing with some very real themes. A mystery/horror storyline combined with relatable characters gel the film together well, mixed in with quite a few jump scares!

Some sex scenes (no discernible nudity), some violence and some language. Make sure you take time out to watch this thoroughly enjoyable movie from Michael Munn and his team.
