I haven't watched much of this series but it is not a bad anime and I remember tuning in to some episode however I lost track. Honestly, I just don't get this trend with Pokemon, whenever people see something like a monster collecting (i.e Digimon, Yo Kai Watch, Bakugan) they just bring Pokemon into it.
Here are reasons to watch it:
Good plot
Likeable characters
Good animation
Get to learn about different dinosaurs Great voice acting
The only bad thing about it is the villians being too cliche for my taste. But other then that its pretty good. As I have said on my Bakugan review it doesn't matter which one came out first all that matters is if you enjoy it.
Comparing this show to Pokemon is like comparing a Banana and a Garlic.

The animated series "Dino Rey" follows a group of young adventurers who discover a secret world full of dinosaurs and tame them to become brave warriors. The story begins with Max, the main character, discovering an island inhabited by these giant reptiles and his dream of becoming the best dinosaur trainer in the world.
The animation is quite basic, but that doesn't stop the series from being entertaining and filling the younger ones with adventures. Although the plot is simple and predictable at many points, the series manages to keep viewers interested through excitement and action in every episode.
In addition to the dinosaurs, the series also introduces other interesting characters, such as the main villain, Zana, and her army of followers, who are always out to control the dinosaurs and conquer the world. Max and his friends must work together to stop Zana and protect the world from the dinosaurs.
Overall, "Dino King" is a fun and entertaining choice for children. While not an animated masterpiece, it is a good choice for an afternoon at home or to entertain the younger ones. I give it a 6/10 rating for entertainment, adventure and excitement.

Ugh! I'm a big anime fan, but this show is simply atrocious.
It is basically a bad rip-off of two good series (Pokemon and Yu-gi- Oh!) but without any of the virtues those series had. Unlike Pokemon or Yugioh, this series totally lacks of any kind of remarkable quality.
This horribad series is completely devoid of any fun or emotion. Here you won't find any cute nor memorable monsters like Pikachu and co (The mons from this series are only ugly CGI dinosaurs) nor the heartwarming friendship of the Yugioh characters.
And it definitely won+'t resist any comparison with superior series such as Digimon, Sailor Moon or Full Metal Alchemist)

This show was the reason why I wanted to become an archaeologist. The dinosaurs were super cool at times with the amazing CGI (at the time). The little animated chiba dinosaurs were absolutely adorable! The friendship between Max and Chomp is like a man and a puppy, downright adorable. Sure the anime plays on tropes. So what? The tropes are amazing and carried out great. I love the villains. They remind me of Jesse and James. This whole show reminds me of Pokemon, actually! It just has real dinosaurs in it. Cool facts are taught about dinosaurs, and I enjoy the end as well, sending a message telling that you can't hold on to friends forever, and you'll have to let them go eventually. The heartbreak is hard, but you know they're in a better place. It's like grieving for a pet you lost. I enjoy that it seems sincere. All of the dinosaurs that appear (even in filler episodes) have something driving them. It isn't an empt plot.
I love the supporting cast. Sure, Mr.NotMcCree over here is imcompitent but parents in a kids anime is always shown off as kind of weaker. He's silly, and the characters are adorable and well animated. The dinosaurs are so cute that I'm currently going to order them off of amazon. Thank you Dinosaur King, for giving me an amazing childhood and making me love dinosaurs.

This series is such a trash. Even the intro theme is absolutely cringe-worthy, like the show itself.
This is a terrible anime, and it is a strong contender for the worst animated show ever made. Is dumb, is unoriginal, is annoying, the characters are bland and clichéd, it has zero imagination, it has bad animation and it fails even at the most basic level.

It's a kid show

I wanted to joke about this show being a masterpiece, but I do want to do a simple, direct review (I'd like to do something in depth, but it's cool).
Dinosaur King is a kids anime dubbed by 4kids, it's dumb, and it's fun. If you expect more than that, you'll be dissapointed, but if you enjoy shows like this or walk into it knowing what it is, you'll be fine. I have a ton of memories with it. It's dumb at parts, but it's fun.
There is a constant plot and character development, and while it doesn't hold too good a candle to seasons of say Digimon or even Pokemon, once you get attached to the characters, it gets pretty fun.
The animation and art style is... interesting. The show was animated by Sunrise, and in some episodes, it really shows. The character designs are very unique and cute, especially the baby Dinos. Speaking of the Dinos, when they get big and become CG monsters... well... it works for emphasizing the Dinosaurs and some scenes work, but it'd be a complete lie to say it isn't messy.
Overall, it's a cute kids anime, and yeah, I'd at least say the 4kids dubbing is some form of a plus. You'll definetly recognize some actors if you've watched other 4kids dubs. It's stupid funny in the unique way 4kids dubs are.
It's easily available, so I'd suggest at least try out an episode.

OK so i only watched 12 episodes of Dinosaur King and then the last time i watch dinosaur king i don't like that show so whats wrong with this show ?
Dinosaur king is just a rip-off of Pokémon : voices, music, art style, comedy, battle system and even story line are all rip-offs
i mean it's a fusion between pokemon&yu-gi-oh!&jurassic park&Digimon&Land Before Time

the Giant CGI Dinosaurs from this cartoon are so hideously ugly and they might scare 2 to 5 year old children
the main protagonist Max Taylor looks exactly just like Tai from Digimon and max Taylor's voice sounds like Ash from Pokémon
there's his Dinosaur Sidekick Chomp, who is a complete rip-off of Ash's Pikachu
there's his Dad Dr. Spike Taylor, who is a complete rip-off of Professor Oak
The Main Villains (except for Seth) are very Annoying
well all the jokes of the Main characters are dull and Annoying and so as the 3 guys of the alpha gang's jokes and rod's jokes
yes even Ash Ketchum from Pokémon was Annoying now
the Only Good Characters of this Show is Rex and Terry and Seth
well i like Digimon and Pokémon but if dinosaur king was a copy of Pokémon instead of cute and cuddly creatures it's dinosaurs no Pokéball but the dinosaurs are being stored in cards its,,,something CGI dinosaurs over an animé cartoon background?,,,pathetic dinosaur king? If you love dinosaurs watch extreme dinosaurs or Land Before Time or Dino Babies or the Super Mario World cartoon (the 3rd and final Mario Cartoon) or Power Rangers Dino Thunder instead
if you want to see a good show next to Pokémon watch Digimon (Season 1&2&3 was OK but season 4&5 was not good cause i've never watch Digimon season 4 and season 5) or Yu-Gi-Oh! or Medabots because there 10 times better then that show or better yet make your kids watch Mighty Morphin Power Rangers , Power Rangers Time Force , Power Rangers SPD , Power Rangers Jungle Fury , Power Rangers RPM , etc shows like dinosaur king will end up destroying good shows.

I have really enjoyed watching this show - the action in this show is great and always full of energy; within the first season, the plot although at times can be a bit bland and repetitive at the start it does ultimately become a lot better in the end (no spoilers here). Within the second season the show takes a completely alternate turn with the plot adding a whole new different story; finally combine all of the above with fantastic voice actors from other shows such as: Pokemon, One piece, and Naruto. as well as the fantastic battle animation style (which through using CG actually fits in an anime very well in this case) and you are left with this fantastic show.

Calmness rating is whether or not the caregiver will lose their sanity while watching shows over and over again as kids want. In this 5 point rating, 1 is obnoxious and 5 is calming. This show is obnoxious. The theme song, the characters, the voices! We would watch this show everyday per my child's request. The only positive thing I can say is the history the show visits is interesting on how they spin it into the plot of the show. This explains my 2 rating. Pokémon is better.

Okay. Most 4Kids Animes aren't that bad for their time. I mean, Sonic, Kirby, Yugioh were great shows. You thought One Piece was bad, But Dinosaur King is worst than you think. The characters are loud and annoying, the plot is insane, the music is awful, sounds is atrocious, the presentation is dreadful, and most importantly, Zoe is the most annoying character in anime history!! NOT ONLY THE ANIME Has characters that sound like out of from Pokemon. The acting is awful, story is terrible, and most of all, everything is a negative.
The show lasted for a long season. It's all bad and you will go insane due to horrible writing.
And speaking of long... Did you know that this anime had 79 episodes?
The arcade game and the DS game are fine... BUT STAY AWAY FROM THIS ANIME AND GO WATCH POKÉMON OR YU GI OH.
Just don't watch it, it's not worth your time.

I hate it when pathetic people compare shows to pokemon and then dismiss them because they're similar, thats like saying every horror movie is bad because they're similar to each other thats just being ignorant honestly this show is really good for what it is and shouldn't be discarded because of slight similarities to other media it does what it does and does it extremely well very entertaining and a joy to watch, it teaches you life lessons and can help you appreciate the little things in life unlike shows like pokemon and Digimon where them 2 shows are just too obnoxious and bland and void of anything good and has no progression or character development whatsoever so don't listen to them morons who don't know what they're talking about just watch dinosaur king for yourself and you'll its not as bad as they say it is not one bit its one of the best

The best Anime ever. I watched this Anime in the 2019 , It was really awesome and I watched the whole Series 3 times and whenever I watched I never get bored unlike Pokemon in which the same plot was being repeated the whole series. I always learnt about dinosaurs and Life virtues which are seldom seen in Pokemon. The transformation of the story from season 1 to 2 was really Masterpiece. I am not comparing this with any other Anime. But I can't remain silent because some people say that it's a rip-off of Pokemon.
The characters seem so similar like that of pokemon because they are made by the same content creators. The guys who say that it's a rip-off should first watch the whole series, understand the story what really it is and then write a review. I had seen they just watch the first 15 episodes and write reviews that it is similar to Pokemon because they pratoganists collect Dinosaurs and battle enimies. These guys that have watched the whole season 2 and then said someting.
Season 1 was amazing but season 2 was an awesome masterpiece. This Anime has both Characters- Children and Parents that means a Family. If anyone wants to learn about dinosaurs and their parents want them to learn life values, they should definately watch this Anime. Even, those who dislike history, will watch and this subject will be their favorite. As it is mainly based on historic life which are seen in season 2 of this anim.
" Human is born to do for others" , I have learnt this lsson from this Anime as the D-team save the dinosaurs from being modified or being used as weapons. " Never Give up " , the d team never lost their hope to save their parents and did whatever they can. " Always think Positive " , they never thought negative when any cosmos stone was taken away.
There are many more things. If someone will ask to explain about these, I can sit for the whole day speaking.
These are the things I had seen in this Anime, there are many more things and if I'll write it will be a long review. And I would say that look upon the story what it really is rather than comparing the characters with other Anime.
Overall, I would say that this show can be enjoyable by many adults also.

This show was my childhood and I loved it even today. I can't help but show some small bias but even so I see most of the negative reviews drawing similarities to pokemon and yugiho which I can understand however this show has its own charm and an interesting story with loveable characters. While it can have similar points to shows like yugiho and Pokemon that cannot be denied it's easy to look past them and enjoy the show for what it is. The way the characters grow along with their abilities is great and I believe that if nothing else this show really is worth a watch to form your own opinion

I picked up the DVD of the first 30 episodes for five bucks for my 8 year old. We had no expectations other than its a dinosaur version of Pokémon and probably a rip off of it.
Honestly, the whole family was hooked on it from the first episode. We enjoyed it far more than Pokémon (that includes the adults as well as children!). I personally think it is way better than Pokémon, even if it is the same formula. At least dinosaurs are more relatable to something real than weird alien monster things. My son is now interested in dinosaurs.
The animation is as expected, but the dialogue is really funny (from 8 to 80 would enjoy it.
We are now watching the remaining episodes online.
It is totally underrated and written off too quickly.

Honestly, I love the show! It's entertained me since I first discovered it, and for me, it's only gotten better as I've gotten older! The plotline may seem stupid or childish, but that's part of its charm. Definitely the kind of show that you love as a kid, then rewatch as a teenager or adult and remember why you found it so entertaining! And the show knows how dumb it is, and it isn't afraid to stretch its limits! 10/10, rewatching it has just made me fall in love with the characters and story all over again!

This is a great show for the younger kids, but easily watchable by a 43 year old kid too. Cheesy jokes are still funny. Sure it has many similarities to shows like Pokemon, but it has proved to be a tried and true formula - and it still works this time around.
It follows the adventures of a bunch of kids trying to collect dinosaurs that have suddenly started to appear around the world. The dinosaurs take the form of cards at times - making them much easier to collect. They also take the form of much smaller and cuter dinosaurs for the 'Pikachu' factor.

Not really, many, I mean many, Movies, games, TV Shows, etc. Are based on other Media that came before it. Many people praise things like Jaws, Jurassic Park, Tarzan, because they appreciate the "originality", yet they don't know or don't acknowledge that all of those are based on books that came before the movie/TV show/game. This show, based upon a video game and card game from Japan does a great amazing job in developing characters and their personality,m with plenty of maybe cheesy episodes, yet lovable plots, that made me feel compassion even at the age of 15.
Yes, the show starts off generic and maybe a little bit cliché, but bare with me, that every single TV show, anime or cartoon, have done the same, at least for a group of people. But look at Steven Universe, and Pokemon, the shows didn't start with a bang, but Pokemon is a world power, and Steven Universe has a solid Fanbase.
This show was amazing when I watched it as a teen, yes teen, and it is still great today.

If you love dinosaurs then this anime is worth watching.
While it does get a bit repetitive and predictable, it's still a great anime and one of a kind. The plot is easy to follow and anyone can understand it, which is great for children who are into dinosaurs.
It's worth noting this show has some historic facts correct, as far as we know, about dinosaurs. Though, some jokes are very overused while others are used enough that it stays funny but doesn't get overbearing.
Most the characters are very likeable and I do love the development that went into them. I just wish there was a little bit less filler within the show, there's a lot of waiting around while dialog is explained but ultimately you can't expect a show like this to be perfect.
Overall it's a great show. I give it 9 stars because it's a very well made show even if it is based on a card game.
