Should have been two separate shows
savannahbath29 August 2021
After watching the entire series I honestly feel like this would've been much better being two totally separate three episode series. As a 40+ year old man I am fascinated by the football aspect, the coaching, and the scandal associated with Coach Probst throughout his career. I really could not care less about who the players are dating or the little cutesy high school drama that they tried to cram into the middle of the series. Pull the series.. do some quick cutting and pasting and make it two different documentaries. One about football and another of our high school girlfriends.

Is this a football show or a teenage girl gossip show?
christianlees77511 September 2021
The portions of the show that are actually about football are great. However, a huge portion is just boring and cringeworthy teen drama dialogue that goes one much too long. Picture keeping up with the Kardashians but with teenage girls doing nothing particularly interesting...just driving around and whatnot.

Clearly none of you watched Two-a-Days
JabezGill30 August 2021
I loved two-a-days on MTV when I was in High School. This show attempts to recreate that - football drama, relationship drama, coaches, players, parents - but that was 2005-2006 so that type of show doesn't really appeal to me anymore.

I think this show will definitely appeal to the high school/college aged crowd... but if you're looking for a "Last Chance U but high school football" or a strict high school football documentary - you will probably be disappointed.

A real life Varsity Blues
angelarichardson-4468528 August 2021
A docu football series which is like a real life Varsity Blues complete with lame relationship drama and a 'Bud Kilmer' like coach. Really great film work and insight into the ludicrous world of high school football. Enjoyed this!

Being Kind
duku653 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I gave it a 6. Maybe a little overly kind on my part. Like many of the other reviews I could have skipped past the little high school girls and their drama.

I find it ironic that the Coach was busted for the recordings. You think they would have been leaked if they had won State? Nub came off as very disingenuous and his ego is as large as the coach.

A terrible reality TV series that focuses on relationship drama...
judgechucky28 August 2021
I am a huge fan of the Hard Knocks / All or nothing / Last chance U type reality TV series, as they focus on the coaches / players and the associated drama that goes with those roles.

However after the first 2 or 3 episodes of Titletown High, it's obvious Netflix are aiming this series more as a 'Bold and The Beautiful' / 'Days of our lives' soap drama.

Honestly I wouldn't waste your time. The series barely focuses on the game / players and instead focuses on their love life, and how they cheat on each other and the drama associated with that.

Worst of this type show.
jfh-7232011 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are many other "hard knocks" style high school, and college, football shows that are way better than this one. They spend WAY too much time on the dating and relationships crap. And then you get 10 minutes of actual football.

And one guy won't come out of this well. Grayson is clearly the dullest tool in the shed. Wow.

And let's not forget, a 4-4 team goes to the playoffs. What kind of crap league is that? Guess it's the participation trophy era. And man, I didn't grow up around any high school that has money like that, and my school won multiple state titles.

So the show succeeds in one way. It shows why we have all the dumb and entitled athletes in the pros. Putting high school teams on Netflix ... smh.

This has nothing to do with Football
fajarsantoso5 September 2021
This is nothing like Last Chance U or something that belongs to that category.

This is a highschool drama serie that should have been showed on Nickelodeon.

So don't waste your time. You have been warned. Any time you spend on watching this is time lost forever. Watch at your own risk.

Don't waste your time
hoosier211229 August 2021
It's a very good thing that you can scan through Netflix shows, otherwise I'd be upset if I had wasted hours on this trash.

I actually live in Valdosta, and therefore, I was interested to see how the docudrama portrayed the city. About the only thing this series does get right is that, for some people here, high school football is a religion. But that demographic is fairly small compared to the entire population.

The vast majority of time in this series is concerned with seemingly semi-literate high schoolers who are more concerned with dating and sex than football and moronic, brooding coaches who act like drill sargents.

It was interesting to see a few scenes of the area on the "big screen," but this series seems like it was made by the same people who ruined MTV.

What was Netflix thinking??
mikerang-3219811 October 2021
Soooooo bad. Watched 2 episodes and will never get those 60 minutes back. Bunch of whiny 16 year old's traversing puberty and football in some backwoods area of Georgia where the southern drawls are so bad you can't even understand what the hell they are saying, and some of the 16-17 year old's look like grown men. Shows like this are why Netflix is falling behind in the streaming game. They could've just ran this on the CW network next to All American. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this show.

As a fan of Two-a-days
JabezGill31 August 2021
I was a sophomore/junior in HS when MTV's Two-a-Days aired. I loved that show and loved how they balanced football with the off-the-field lives of the coaching staff and players.

Titletown High attempts to recreate the magic of MTV's TAD - the bring back an entertaining coach in Coach Propst and the creator/producer/director behind the MTV series returns.

However, the issue is that TH focuses about 65-75% of each episode on the private lives of HS students - two relationships in particular. The football focus is interlaced but very minimal - apart from 2 players (a backup QB that takes over the starting job and a second string D-lineman who is as douchey as a high school guy can get) we don't really get to know much about the team or the coaches.

What MTV TAD did so well was balance the football action - focus on a handful of players and player's families (and the relationships of a few of those players) while also showing us what the coaches go through. TH barely shows propst outside of the office or the field and the don't follow any of the other coaches at all. (Which is a shame because a few of those coaches seemed interesting - particularly the Offensive Coordinator/QB coach who seemed to really have a bond with his players)

Because this was filmed in the fall of 2020 I am assuming that COVID impacted how much the crew could work with people. I'm assuming this is why the focused on two players and their relationships so much and not on 5-6 "star" players and the main coaches like MTV TAD.

With the dismissal of Rush Propst from Valdosta State I can't imagine we will get a season 2 of this show - however, I would be interested in seeing what this show would look like without COVID regulations which clearly hampered its production.

Also, Nub is a Jerk that didn't get his way so he torpedoed Coach Propst.

Awfull

I thought I was going to watch a football show. But 90% of the series goes about problems/drama of highschool teenagers. So i strongly advise for everybody who is expecting to see a football show to skip this.

Could Have Been A lot Better
jimsweezey5 September 2021
I am being generous by giving the football half of the show a 5 and the other half of teenage drama a 0. Just not for me but I'm sure the high school crowd who the show is aimed at will find it interesting.

I would've loved to see more of a docu-style dig into coach Probst and why Nub was so after him. Nub is a totally douche baby but it could've been more interesting with more of a backstory instead of a quick fill in about Probst's past at the end. Don't want to give anything away but it just looked like there was more story to be told of the coaches and players rather than rock for brains Grayson and his high school love triangle.

SweeZ.

Not Last Chance U,QB1, Hard knocks or Anything like it
waltergill-797701 September 2021
Like most reviews have said, it's definitely more focused on the other stuff outside of football. Very much "Football Jersey Shore-ish". A few episodes in and my girl was sitting down fully engaged like it was Love And Hip Hop laughing up a storm.

Really not that Good
rbost-7023330 August 2021
The sad portrayal of the kids was beyond annoying. Like? Like? Every third word is "like". Come off as morons. The coach seemed to be over acting. He clearly strives to be the a-hole coach Jon Voight played in Varsity Blues. Like, he's tough and like he loves his boys, like?

2 Stars is generous
jerradmcdonald30 November 2021
Mostly High School BS (90% of the show) with a little bit of football for spice. Skip this one, Netflix pooped the bed with this recipe. I apparently have to have 150 characters in a review but this show isn't even worth the time.

I tried FF through the high school drama scenes..
tdorlis-555408 June 2022
But that wasn't even worth my time.

This may be the worst sports "documentary" that I've seen. It's 1/4 sports and 3/4 high school relationship involving kids who are emotionally challenged.

I assume that all the 10 ratings came from kids and their parents at the high school.

Last Chance U meets Outer Banks
vrush-086346 November 2021
The kids are just as dumb as the Outer Banks kids, just not as attractive. A lot of dopey melodrama teen romance action. Kids were forced to over act for sake of the program. ( At least you HOPE...that was the reason.) Rush is an unlikable old grizzled career high school Coach that gets results. The real scumbag in the series is some freak named Nub, who is the redneck version of Buddy Garrity from Friday Night Lights.

Typical HS Drama
highspeed-105348 December 2021
Leave the dumb relationship crap out of the show. The final cut seems like horrible acting.

The edits are horrible. In one episode, you can see the tape X's on the lunch table seats where they are supposed to set. You want a real football team and coaches come to texas. Friday night lights.

Last Chance U...The Highschool Version
vrush-086347 October 2021
Was I this dumb...as a highschool kid?

I'm pretty sure I was. These kids give the Outer Banks kids a run for their money on "knuckle-headedness"

Pretty sure that there are some future rocket scientists in the school and on the team but none of the main characters.

Grammar and articulation are not qualities of the modern teenager. Every kid mumbles and slurs speech.

The football storyline is enjoyable however. Imagine the series Friday Night Lights with a bunch of not as polished or attractive.

Fast forwarding through the HS drama helped
helghast-133718 September 2022
Was recommended this after qb1. Watched the first full episode and was unimpressed. Watched the rest of the episodes by fast forwarding through all the teenage drama garbage. It all seemed so manufactured. There was some real drama at the end so I guess the series is worth a watch for that, but I couldn't imagine watching this without fast forwarding. I like behind the scenes football shows but this one wasn't exactly as good as something like qb1 or last chance u. I would say out of the 30-ish minutes of an episode, maybe 13 minutes of them were actually about football and the rest was about who was taking who to prom and typical high school nonsense.
