This is only the beginning.

This episode was brilliant. It was everything it had to be. So much to applaud. This show doesn't feel real. It doesn't seem like something that should exist right now. More like 2012. That's the only way to explain the dependability.

Dylan is the standout here, for me. Everything he does in this episode is so impactful. I'm in love with it. John Turturro is still the greatest to do it, but each of his scene partners hold their own throughout a runtime that is gorgeously cut.

We are witnessing a meteoric rise. The start of something people won't forget. A generational run.

Perfection. No notes.

Severance is Back!

Severance has to be one of my favorite shows, and I was so sad that the writer strike pushed the second season back. The end of season 1 has to be one of the best TV episodes ever. So I was expecting a lot, to say the least, and I wasn't disappointed. The show picks up where season 1 ended, at least from the perspectives of our Inies. Five months have passed in the real world, but the Inies and we, as the viewers, don't know what has happened in the real world. Mark S. Is confused and in search of his team. The entire cast is perfect, and they pick up where they left off without missing a beat. The show is really good at presenting things ominously and creepily. I'm really interested in seeing what is going on with Helly after what she was like in the real world. I still have a lot of questions, especially about the outside world, but I have faith that they will explain them. I'm excited to see what happens next.

Hit the ground running

It's back.

I was worried for this pilot - its been so long and with the excellence of season 1, and the LONG wait between seasons I was ready to find myself uninterested and having lost something.

I am happy to report this is not the case, the episode grabs you and reminds you EXACTLY why you enjoyed season 1. Fun characters, a really fun and meaty mystery to sink your teeth into and just a splash of weirdness.

The life-changing alterations made to characters in last seasons finale aren't shrugged off and even in this episode you can already feel the wheels turning plot-wise.

An easy recommend and I am no longer worried about this seasons quality. Immensely looking forward to the rest of this season.

Understand the show

I hope my review is long enough to make it... It really is simple. Everything in this show means something and every second is thought out. If you don't understand that, after the first season, I can't help you. To say this first episode of the second season is a throw away or irrelevant just proves you do not understand the vision of the writers and directors. They clearly know what they want to do and where they are going. The details that are carefully placed prove this fact. If, at the end of the second season you have issues, feel free to air them. However, to say you are disappointed because all of your questions were not answered from the first season in the first episode of the second season is absolutely foolish.

We're off to a great premise fellas

Wow, absolutely mind bending episode so much is going on!

So I won't discuss specifics here since I believe it to be a crime against humanity to spoil this masterpiece of a show without spoiler warning so I'll just say this: This episode does everything right by the book, it offers the viewer a sufficient amount of answers at face value, meaning things that are being explained on screen(visually or verbally)without delving too much into the details to decode them, while also rewarding those who are curious enough to speculate and theorize on what's to come with hidden gems scattered all around the episode with connections to the previous season.

Needless to say the cinematography is superb and captivating(but this is no surprise from a tv show like Severance).

So overall I feel optimistic about what's ahead, and I hope you'll enjoy this episode as much as I did(if you're curious why a 9 instead of 10 then the only thing bothering me was that I waited 3 years for it XD)

Review of the first episode of season 2

The last episode of season 1 was extremely well made and intense. Rounding up the first season of Severance perfectly.

Because of this, there were expectations i suppose to kind of follow that rythm in season 2.

Picking up where it let off since it's a continous story.

Sadly this episode did not feel like it continued from season 1. It feels like a different show with similar atmosphere.

Confusing viewers with different unsatisfactory explanations. Totally dropping the intensity that season 1 beautifully choreographed.

Confusing viewers was obviously made purposefully, however, i feel like they missed the mark. The decisions made on how season 2 would continue, was a bit off. Leaving the viewer a bit empty, without an impact like season 1 had on you.

Perhaps season 2 will get better, and meet the amazing quality and storyline of season 1. Who knows.....

This is just a review, everybodys opinions will be different. Note: No matter how season 2 goes, season 1 is still a masterpiece.

Wild start, wild finish.

Much like the first season, it does look like the tension and the psychological thriller will start escalating slowly, and that is indeed the magic of this show. Ben Stiller directs what is the stepping stone for one of the most expected comebacks in modern television, including a hysterical entry-sequence, and the good old uncomfy humour we all know. It does make sense why things happen here, and it sets the foundations to leave you intrigued about the unravelling of such a complex character-driven story. That being said, I also recognize the presence of a more fluid narrative and a slightly elevated initial pace for being the first episode; I cannot wait for the next ones to come.

Great start!

Brilliant start to season 2 after 3 years of waiting. I usually don't write reviews but seeing how some people were calling this episode disappointing because they wanted more excitement or instant reveals of what is going made me want to write this. It is the writers' intention to keep us in the dark, everything Milkshake told Mark is most likely a lie and we (the viewers) will be kept in the dark the same as the innies, this show is made to make us feel like an innie and see how corporations lie and keep us in the dark. Everything will be revealed in due time, like in the first season, where they usually show one perspective, then another. Great new casting, new MCR woman made me h8 her and the new child is very creepy, lots of mystery was setup, can't wait for the next episode. You probably won't like it if you're looking for instant gratification or 'excitement', whatever that means, maybe a waffle party? Idk.

Best 1st episode of a Season I Have Ever Seen

We waited a long time and I was a little worried about the quality of season 1 would be unreachable after such a long pause, but the wait was well worth it!

I have watched hundreds of shows, pretty much all the "greats", so I don't say this lightly: This has to be the best episode 1 of any season I have ever seen!

Every scene was so well crafted, had intense connotations in pretty much every line, every actor's expression and every piece of camera movement and by the time we got to the end of the episode I had goose bumps - and we are talking FIRST episode of a season! I don't recall this much intensity and admiration of what I am presented with in any first episode ever. This is the most intelligent writing and one of the best directions I have ever seen with and all other parameters (cast, score, visuals, camera etc.) fitting it perfectly! I know it sounds cheesy, but this is probably the best episode I have seen since season one ended.

Regarding some of the very negative reviews: Obviously, in order to enjoy this episode and don't have half of the information presented between the lines or through little details visually embedded in a very subtle way go right over your head, you need to remember most of season 1's episodes and pay attention watching. This is not a show where you can just kick back and have the showrunners use half the episode's time just to catch you up to speed. Even the few short scenes where the protagonists recall stuff from season 1 are skewed and interspersed with wrong information or hidden agendas. I am guessing that those few who gave this masterpiece a scathing review either have no clue anymore what season one was about (regarding both plot as well as what the show is about) or watched this episode with their phones in their hands and are now complaining nothing happened. I could not disagree more.

I am very excited for what is to come this season. If you paid attention you could get so many hidden little messages and possibilities of where the plot might go out of this episode it honestly baffles me how anyone would call this a slow start. Considering the rather quiet tone of the series I don't think a much more intense start would have been possible.

The cast delivered as expected, the writing is impeccable, the visuals are minimal yet very powerful, the score is calm but threatening - I can't wait for the next episodes!

Fantastic Premiere Episode

This thing had me so happy to be back in this world for the entire hour.

Disclaimer for those who haven't seen it yet: the writing in this show is very tight, and the viewing experience is greatly improved when you remember the intricacies of each character and the world building done in S1. So if it's been a while since you've watched it, you may not have the same experience watching 2x1 as I did, and may gloss over some important story details and character beats. Which is why I would highly recommend a rewatch of S1 (recaps are just not enough in my opinion). It is quite unfortunate that S2 was delayed so heavily due to the writers and actors strikes.

I'm incredibly excited for the rest of the season. The premiere was a rollercoaster of emotions, and viewers who actually pay attention will have some idea of what's potentially being built up, and where some information presented should not be taken at face value (particularly when a character literally asks for something to be taken at face value).

Praise Kier, and praise Mr. Milkshake.

Nice comeback

I was expecting more excitement and tension, but a good start only promises better things to come.

The actors' performance was good, I didn't like the new team at all, I would have liked to see it from the outside as well."Severance" has captured the insignificance of modern work better than any other series, using sci-fi hyperbole to help us come to terms with the dystopian reality of our own world. Season 2 continues the show's keen insight and insistence on the humanity of characters condemned to a hostile environment.

The first episode of Severance's second season has been a great success, delivering on expectations and adding depth to the characters and story. The season has become more engaging with better handling of identity and social issues, especially in the workplace. The cast, especially Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette, have been able to give stronger performances that have helped develop the story. Also, more mysteries have been revealed since the first season, but there are still many questions that will keep the audience interested.

Feels like a start-over.. which is a disapointment.

Loved the season 1, as a whole, ones you got past the slow tempoed firat half of the season the show turned great!

I was looking forward to a continuation of where we left of in season 1, and this is like a start-over of season 1 .. not a great first episode of the season. I hope they will pick up, and does not have the same progression in tempo and mystery-unraveling as the first season, to then give us a couple of really good episodes before they finish the season with a new cliffhanger.

Another thing about Dillon and Mervs all of a sudden close relationship, which there were no hints of at all in season 1. It just feels shoehorned to give Merv another relationship.
