A really great time
lucasdwarnock19 September 2021
I was aware of this but didn't have much interest in it until it was Batman day and all the episodes came on HBO Max so out of pure curiosity I gave it a listen and love it, it's a ton of fun the voice actors are pretty great and It's pretty funny. It's a very interesting take on Batman not because of the story's (which are pretty standard) But because of the way there being told it's a very fun and I would recommend it if your a Batman fan if not I think that you may be a bit confused it has a lot of Easter eggs and plots that rely on you knowing a bit more the the average person would know but it's not that big of a deal.

Fantastic -- a return to the OG Bat
teeballenboy19 September 2021
This is such a fantastic and surprising podcast -- if you love radio dramas and you love comic books -- you'll be satisfied. Disappointing to see the other reviewer complain about audio shows -- this is not only a wonderful addition to the Batman canon, it's also great for anyone who is seeing impaired (like myself)

Do yourself a favor and make a hot drink, light a fire and lay back and go to Gotham City tonight. You just won't be sorry.

You either let audio die out or live long enough to see it become a success
akcbt28 September 2021
Batman: The Audio Adventures is comedic and campy creativity that presents the mythos of Batman in one of the most unique forms to have come out in a long time. It's an adventurous comedy with a dash of what makes Batman darkly desirous and it's a drama with sprinkles of satirical silliness(In a good way)!

A Real Treat For Fans Of BTAS
DiddleMyRiddle3 March 2023
For those who felt Batman the animated series could have reached an even wider audience if catered to a slightly older demographic YOU ARE IN LUCK. This has been the greatest piece of Batman media I've had the pleasure to consume since I first fell in love with BTAS and its related movies and comics.

I've always found that what makes Batman's character and story so tragic, and a rule that follows those he comes to know, is that no good deed goes unpunished. But what makes his story worth knowing, (and retelling for what, 80 years??) is that despite this, he cares so much, he fights so hard, and in the face of each loss, each mistake, he gets back up, to do the right thing. Each. And. Every. Time.

Batman the audio adventures perfectly embodies this drive for good, while also showing us the unintended consequences that come from it and how it affects our well meaning vigilante and those allied with him.

This cast of incredibly talented voice actors and sound FX wizards came together to breath life into the winding, weaving plot and the perilous tales found...in life and death, in Gotham city.

Honestly Really Good
TheOnlyLorelei8 December 2022
I've got a pretty poor ability to latch onto things, but this show hooked me in. The character's are all really well acted and there's a good sense of intrigue and mystery present. I'm a really big fan of the interconnecting plotlines as well as the variety show aspect. Wasn't expecting to laugh a whole lot, but I was pleasantly surprised. The slow burn of certain running gags becoming pretty significant story beats is really something and I kinda love it for that. There's lots to see- er, well- hear in this show. Not to mention the gorgeous ambiance artwork availible should you choose to watch this on HBOMax. The audio mixing is fantastic and really puts you in the scene. Probably the only critique I can give is that there isn't more of it!

Could be great, but there's one big issue.
BakerMontana14 November 2021
The production quality on this series is great (albeit campy - a bit like the 60s TV show Batman show) and the A-list talent is top shelf (with top props going to Brent Spiner as the Joker).

But here's the issue - and it's a big issue - the HBOmax app will only play if the screen display is active on your phone. This is an AUDIO series, and will absurdly shred your phone's battery by only playing with the pointless visual of a radio being on display on your phone.

C'mon, HBO - you should've fixed this long ago.

Funny During Brief Moments, But Otherwise Not That Good.
megamatt-8019418 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There's a reason Audio Shows have long receded into history. And Batman: The Audio Adventures won't bring it back to life.

There's a few things to like:

1. Jeffery Wright is pretty solid as Batman.

2. It has a few clever jokes and lines.

3. Some minor characters are bearably acted.

4. The 'commercial breaks' could have been a creative idea if done well.

That's about it. The two episodes I heard were not that interesting. The attempts at modern humor are unflattering, and the comedy often descends into stylings which can only be compared to the annoying kid in grade school who fancied himself as Rodney Dangerfield.

And for every good joke the series manages to conjure, it never seems to know when to let them go. Plus, the plots are wire thin, and instead of making us like these versions of Batman, Catwoman, and Riddler, it seems to rely on the listener's preconceived attachment to the characters.

Overall, it's as if modern SNL made a Batman radio drama. It has a few good bits, but it's mostly either a bore or a misfire.

Batman: The Audio Adventures might seem like a fun concept, but it apparently never got past the planning stage.

A little something for the non-Batman fans
Steve_Holt_12 January 2023
Misses the mark on so many levels. The worst part was having a grown woman do the voice of Robin. How did anyone think this was a good idea? I kept thinking he was talking to Oracle, but nope, it was just grown-woman-Robin. They could have at least gone with Carrie Kelly.

Two Face is terrible. I hate this contemporary version of him that seems to be popular now; the idea that the two sides of his face are arguing with each other. This isn't how TwoFace is, and the first time I recall seeing this interpretation was in Batman Forever with Tommy Lee Jones in the role. TeoFace is obsessed with the number two and sometimes with the dual nature of certain things. To just make someone schizophrenic because their name is Two Face is lazy and uninspired.

The voices in this were all around terrible. There one or two that were good; I'm thinking Chris Parnell and Rosario Dawson.

I really wanted to like this, but like everything else the SNL crew does, they never tap the potential. This is strictly entertainment for people who might have heard of Batman, but don't really know anything about him.

One of the most giantiest setups I've ever heard
audiobyte30 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand whose choice it was to make this period none of it makes sense, it sounds like an edgy teenager made this that tried to be funny at the same time. All I'm listening to the entire time are very bad voice actors. People who are trying too hard to try to make the average person laugh.

Whoever chose several of these voices needs to be smacked. Who thought it was a good idea to make Robin a girl? When I first heard it I thought it was Carrie Kelly and I was like oh cool it's another take on dark night. Never mind. And who decided it was a good idea to make commissioner Gordon sound like that?

These episodes are so bad. The only reason I'm rating it as a four is just to give it some love for being Batman.

Missing Plots or Structure
crankyerma198425 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's as though the people who came up with this are completely unfamiliar with old time radio. It's fun to have little comedic bits and to hear familiar actors do beloved characters but how about having actual stories? I listened to two episodes and there didn't seem to really be any plot or anything driving us from one minute to the next. The humor isn't very clever or funny. There is no action. This is a complete misfire. Also, not much Batman in this Batman. Not sure what the point of this exercise was. If you want to bring back radio drama, learn what made that medium work.

I have eight hours a day to fill
justyourhalf-9880520 February 2024
I literally have eight hours a day to fill. I'll listen to almost anything. But this is high production, poorly cast, badly written trash. I love Melissa Vilesenor, but why is she playing Robin? Two Face's two voices were not different. Chris Parnell is ok, but just sound like Dr. Spaceman doing a bit. I which Rosario Dawson had better dialogue. I cannot believe this got a second season. I'm especially sad that this is so bad after having listened to The Riddler and Batman: Unburied. Those were both excellent. Do yourself a favor and listen to those instead. Sorry, Jeffrey Wright, even you couldn't save this crap.
