A feel good slice of life film that proposes charity as a means for gaining self-fulfillment without shoving ethics and piety down viewers' throats

While browsing flicks in a low mood, I came across the preview which was a scene of a dialogue between the main character Nathaniel and the supporting character Mark. They discussed each other's beliefs in God and life in way that touched on each other's varying perspectives without judgement very thoughtfully.

I would say that scene sums up what this film does through its array of characters who intersect and develop throughout. More than just about God, the film explores ethics and values and how their scale measure up against one another for the purpose of achieving self-fulfillment. The characters work as representations of people in society as well as who they are on their own at face value.

The film spoke to me without guilt tripping and it resonated with the internal conflicts that I endure and I think many others do based on some of the discourse present today that the film does a good job at relating to viewers with.

It was refreshing and gave me something real to consider. Great to watch alone if feeling like it, and great to watch with someone you're able to have those conversations with.

Oh and I think the effects of the cinematography did a good job at evoking the emotions that scenes were meant to make the audience feel.

Lacks an Ending

Warning: Spoilers
Nice setting and cinematography. Challenging volume levels; too faint many times. Slow paced and lacks closure or an ending.

The hope for more drew me along as my patience enjoyed what appeared to be an ultimate modeling of Christianity. My hopes were disappointed when the three main characters agreed to dinner and the screen went black; The End.

It appears the idea behind this conclusion, or lack thereof, is for the viewer to imagine their own ending based on a euphoria that is mildly developed in this story. I liked the side-by-side presentation of the two lives impacted. It caused one to search for a moment.

Embellishing a terrible reality

I couldn't go further than 45 min. The female hero is way too perfect, doesn't have any flaws nor shows any limits whereas she's spending all of her time besides her studies in helping people. Never rests, never takes time for herself, and yet she's completely fine and a kind of superwoman. The homeless guy is too stereotypical, I feel like the crew of the movie never met or talk with an actuel homeless person. He suddenly goes from the unhappiest man in the world to the most devoted person, again without any flaws. All this, plus the way too religious atmosphere for me, had me there. But if all of this don't disturb you, I'm sure you'll appreciate the movie.

A great movie that makes you think about your actions as a Christian, but also just as a human. I loved how relatable a lot of the themes were for young people.

The actors were great and though Christian movies tend to be a bit cringe, the actors in this made it feel like something I could relate to.

Good movie to watch if you need motivating to do something to better the world and those around you. Good choice for a youth movie night, family movie night, or to watch with a few close friends. It was inspiring and motivating to see Christianity in action and someone living out their faith unashamedly!

My family loved this film!

Warning: Spoilers
I found this film by accident. I was looking for something to watch with my wife and nearly turned it off as I saw the homeless people too depressing. Then it occurred to me that God loves them as much as anyone ever created. So I struggled on and felt bad for the guy. I live in the USA and have never seen a homeless Asian person but soon realized that it was filmed in Australia where that would be more common. The film really picks up when Rachel comes on the screen. I've met people like Rachel. I even married a girl like Rachel. The character also reminds me of my15 year old daughter, who is shy and not as outgoing, but a warm loving teen who volunteers when school allows.

I was happily surprised when it was revealed it was a Seventh Day Adventist movie. Really it could be any church or anyone who believes in loving others as they love themselves. I recently saw a meme that resonated true to me that read something like 'one deed that brings joy to one heart is better than a thousand prayers". I saw Rachel as a conduit for the Holy Spirit working through her and how that influences those around her. There really are no bad guys in the film except for Nathan's unseen abusive stepfather.

The movie leaves the ending open as to if Nathan will continue on the path and be someone that is compatible for Rachel or if God has another for each of them. And if Emily will fully commit to the Lord. You could see she was on the path.

I could relate to it because I was basically a punk who was kicked out of school and the police took me to juvenile hall. They gave me a week to get in a school and the only one that would accept me was an SDA school. I thought they were a bunch of cultish weirdos. I had worse words for that but I hated them. I was embarrassed at how they sang praises to the Lord during school and how humiliated I'd be if anyone I knew ever found out. For me it was a very long struggle but their kindness and genuine love started winning me over. I started going to evangelical meetings, church and singing and playing my guitar for sick and elderly. My family was agnostic and outraged. Most thought they and I were a fraud. Now I'm SDA as is my wife and daughter and some of my family. I loved this movie and could relate to it but hadn't heard of it. Yes, it's very sanitized and not as polished as most movies but that is part of its appeal. Most importantly, there are people like those depicted in the movie, in the world.
