Speaking with the media in a conference call this weekend, Aew president Tony Khan said the league was determining the best way to offer archive titles via streaming.
The blockbuster acquisition of the broadcast rights for “WWE Raw” by streaming giant Netflix may have some wrestling fans nervous that Aew is also about to move to streaming. But that doesn’t appear to be the case, according to Aew president Tony Khan. Khan spoke with the media before Sunday’s Aew Dynasty pay-per-view event and said that his promotion is still in an exclusive negotiating window that will keep Aew programming on TNT and TBS moving forward. He also gave fans an important update regarding the possibility of streaming Aew archive content.

Plot: Three mischievous children embark on a woodland odyssey when their mother sends them on an errand.
Review: Magical realism is a tough challenge for even the most skilled of filmmakers. There’s a fine line to walk in order to anchor anything fantastical to a layer of reality. Writer/Director Weston Razooli makes the choice to set the film in modern day, while avoiding most modern technology. Even the leads have a timelessness to them that could put this film in any decade going back a century. All of these elements add up to make Riddle of Fire one of the more interesting independent features of the year.
Taking place in the mountains of Wyoming, Riddle of Fire follows three children Hazel, Alice, and Jodie as they go on an adventure. They’re on a mission to get the ingredients for a blueberry pie, to make their ailing mother feel better.

It’s that time of year again, folks. The 2024 Grammy nominations have been announced, and for fellow K-pop fans, it’s another season of “disappointed, but not surprised.” This year’s nominations failed to nod to any artists out of Seoul, despite the diversity of genre, sound, and style displayed in the submissions.
Historically, BTS paved the way and set the precedent as the first and only K-pop act to secure a nomination, beginning at the 2021 ceremony with a nomination for “Dynamite.” The following year, “Butter” earned a nod in the same category (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance), alongside their collaboration with Coldplay, “My Universe,” and a Best Music Video nomination for “Yet to Come.”
This year, perhaps encouraged by the fact that BTS were able to start making waves in the Grammys world, many K-pop acts followed suit in submissions: aespa, Seventeen, Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, Twice, Nct,...

Ric Flair is getting into business with Aew.
Variety has learned exclusively that Flair’s Wooooo! Energy will become the exclusive energy drink of the professional wrestling promotion. It will also be stocked in the wrestlers’ locker rooms and will also be seen on the announcers’ desk during live broadcasts.
The Wooooo! Energy announcement is part of a multi-year deal Flair has signed with Aew. In an interview with Variety, Flair said that he has known Aew boss Tony Khan for nearly a decade, which made discussing such a deal easy.
“I just reached out to Tony,” Flair said. “Then Tony got back to me and he said he’d be interested in that. And I wasn’t selling myself. I was just selling energy drinks…And then Tony was thinking about Sting...

It’s a great time to be a wrestling fan. Unlike other sports, professional wrestling has no off-season. This means from the perspective of a fan, there is always content to watch. But sometimes, that content can be very hard to watch. Because what I watched on the 10/18th edition of Aew’s Dynamite was very hard to digest. And this is coming from a fan who has watched Disco Inferno wrestle in WCW.
Aew, founded in 2019 by Tony Khan, is the second-biggest wrestling promotion in the world. Aew has done some great things over the years, like getting a great deal from Warner Bros for a second show on TNT called Collision, which airs on Saturday nights. The promotion sold out Wembley Stadium a couple of months back. But with all the highs, there have been some lows.
Tony Khan has been rampaging on social media, making tweets that make zero sense.

All Elite Wrestling could be coming to Max very soon. That’s according to a report from ComicBook.com, which cites Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, who says that a deal between the wrestling promotion and Warner Bros. Discovery is currently in the works.

Among the marquee matches on the card at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, in New York’s National Tennis Center, the battle between “Le Sex Gods” is based on mutual respect. This is pro wrestling though, so one can expect fireworks. Speaking of expecting, Guevara and his wife fellow Aew star Tay Melo are becoming first-time parents with a daughter on the way. BTS’ V delivered a trio of tender, swooning songs during his short but sweet performance on NPR’s new Tiny Desk offshoot, Tiny Desk Korea.
The performance was filmed last month in Seoul and found V working alongside an eight-person band of musicians, most of whom had flown from the U.S. to South Korea for the gig. Despite their recent formation — and ostensible jet lag — the musicians provided V with the most dulcet of tones as he breezed through some of the songs off his debut solo EP, Layover.

In January 2009, during a midnight screening at Sundance, Michael Jai White knew he had something special in Black Dynamite. Nine months later, the Blaxploitation spoof’s limited theatrical release and minimal box office gross didn’t stop its immediate fate as a cult classic. Demand for a sequel soon followed, and so White, as co-writer of the film, penned a direct sequel that struggled to get off the ground due to creative differences with a producer.
Consequently, White went back to the drawing board and pursued an idea he had at the same time as Black Dynamite’s conception. If that action-comedy paid homage to Blaxploitation films through parody, then it would only make sense to take a similar approach with other genres. So, White revisited his earlier ideas for three other genre exercises including a horror movie, a kung fu movie and a Western. That Western is now known as Outlaw Johnny Black,...

Exclusive: “The fact that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue to rage on unresolved proves that the lack of visibility creators have into their content is untenable.”
Krish Arvapally, CEO of Web3 blockchain platform Replay, made the argument as his company launched its proprietary blockchain on the video, entertainment and media-focused Theta Metachain today.
Replay hopes its platform can revolutionize how entertainment dealmaking is done by providing a better platform for creatives to protect and monetize their IP. Theta Metachain is a system of interconnected subchains that aims to make digital transactions almost instantaneous and provide heightened transparency between creatives and vendors.
The Replay blockchain works to “measure and provide instant payout for engagement in online videos, solving issues of fragmentation and disparate viewership metrics in streaming,” according to the tech company. Tony Khan was a lifelong pro wrestling fan when he founded All Elite Wrestling (Aew) in 2019 as CEO and president, looking to take on sports entertainment titan WWE.
The promotion quickly emerged as a powerhouse challenger, putting on regular pay-pay-view events and starting weekly TV shows later in 2019. After expanding its TV output beyond the two-hour Dynamite on Wednesdays with the hour-long Friday show Rampage, it added two hours of Collision on Saturdays this summer. The result: Aew now airs three weekly shows, a total of five hours, on Warner Bros. Discovery networks TBS and TNT in the U.S. That makes Khan, who also oversees the creative process at Aew as head of creative, a big TV producer.
In 2022, he also bought wrestling promotion Ring of Honor (Roh) from Sinclair, cementing his status as a pro wrestling mogul and business maverick.

Pro wrestler Daniel Wheeler, who wrestles as Cash Wheeler in tag team Ftr for All Elite Wrestling, has been charged in Orlando, Florida, with aggravated assault with a firearm, TheWrap confirmed Friday. It appears to be a road-rage incident, where Wheeler allegedly flashed a handgun, according to the state’s attorney at a Friday hearing. He has no prior offenses.
Wheeler’s arrest comes at a particularly challenging time for wrestling company Aew, just nine days before their biggest show to date — All In at London’s Wembley Stadium, in front of an anticipated 80,000 fans. It’s unclear whether Wheeler will still perform at the show or if his future with Aew will be otherwise affected.
Wheeler was set to wrestle with tag team partner Dax Harwood in one of All In’s main events against Southern California tag team the Young Bucks. Wheeler and Harwood hold the promotion’s tag-team championship.

With the death of William Friedkin sending shockwaves through the film world, as everyone pays tribute to his classics The French Connection and The Exorcist, now is a good time to look back at one of his most underrated movies, the 1977 classic Sorcerer!
The 1970s were probably the last decade when the film industry had many honest-to-goodness auteurs. Directors who made movies on their own terms without compromises; not just the ones making little indie art films, but the guys in charge of sizable projects with the backing of major studios. Filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Brian De Palma came of age during this era, and were responsible for movies that would resonate for decades. Another name you can add to that list is William Friedkin, who during that period made two instant classics and one misunderstood masterpiece.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D has experienced quite the transformation throughout All Elite Wrestling’s short history. The legit pro wrestling star and dentist broke through after the company’s launch in 2019 and became arguably the top female talent on the roster. A lot of that emergence happened Wednesday nights on Aew’s first weekly program Dynamite. She along with Thunder Rosa were the first two women to main event the show St. Patrick’s Day 2021 when they tore the house down in an “Unsanctioned Lights Out Anything Goes” match. They would follow that classic with a rematch a year later in a milestone steel cage battle. Despite being the villainous heel for much of the time, fans have been getting behind Baker. Seoul, July 25 (Ians) K-pop superband BTS member Jungkook’s new single ‘Seven’ featuring Latto (formerly known as Mulatto) has debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.
It marks the 25-year-old’s first time to rule the chart as a soloist.
He is the second BTS member with a Hot 100 leader following his groupmate Jimin, who reigned the chart after his song ‘Like Crazy’ launched at No.1 back in April, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Jungkook’s previous high on the Billboard Hot 100 was when Charlie Puth’s ‘Left and Right’ featuring him hit No. 22 in July 2022. His own song ‘Stay Alive’ also spent a week on the list No. 95 in February last year.
The ‘Euphoria’ singer has posted six other Hot 100 leaders as part of BTS.

In a lovely victory for songs with absolutely zero ties to racially charged violence or drunken controversies, Jung Kook of BTS has secured his first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Seven,” which features rapper Latto, officially debuted in the top slot on Monday, July 24th, shutting out recent offerings from Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen.
With this latest accolade, Jung Kook joins bandmate Jimin as a BTS member with a solo chart-topping hit. BTS together previously hit No. 1 with “Dynamite,” “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission To Dance,” and “My Universe.”

My Thoughts: For those unaware what a “Royal Rampage” match is… well, due to the fact Rampage was taped at the same time as this week’s Blood and Guts episode of Dynamite the show had two rings. One red ring and one blue ring, both featuring different wrestlers taking part in two simultaneous “royal rumble” style matches. Which means the camera misses the majority of the action until the number of men in the ring is whittled down enough. It’s even worse than trying to follow a One ring Royal Rumble! Eventually...

Update:
Shortly after rumors about Kenneth Branagh adapting the classic animated series Gargoyles to the silver screen took flight, writer Greg Weisman is out here clipping wings, saying the story is false. Many credit Weisman as the creator of Gargoyles, lending more weight to his word than a group of stone-encased protectors of New York City.
“I’m thinking… that it’s flat-out not true,” Weisman tweeted hours after the rumor spread like wildfire on Monday.

“Gargoyles is still my baby. I don’t own it. I don’t get a dime off of it being on Disney Plus. And yet I’m so thrilled that it is, I’m thrilled that it represents a chance — even if it’s a slim chance — to bring it back,” Weisman previously said to Polygon.
