It started as a practical joke among friends, a way for superstar Brad Pitt and acclaimed director David Fincher to playfully mess with their inner circle on New Year’s Eve as the year turned to 2000. But the elaborate prank, involving staged Y2K chaos and fake federales with automatic weapons, ultimately left some psychological scars.
What Did Brad Pitt and David Fincher’s Prank Entail? Brad Pitt on Between Two Ferns
As per Cracked, on December 31, 1999, Brad Pitt and David Fincher gathered friends at a secluded Mexican resort to celebrate the millennium. But when the clocks struck midnight, instead of toasting champagne, the power and phones suddenly cut out, plunging the party into darkness. Moments later, the lights flipped back on as “government troops,” wielding Ak-47s, burst in to arrest one of Pitt’s friends, Mark Gervitz, on fabricated drug charges.

Death has taken many forms in media over the decades — from a Norm MacDonald-voiced Grim Reaper in Family Guy to an anthropologically-minded Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black — but no depiction is quite like in Tuesday. For the first trailer of the upcoming film, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has the ominous fate appear in the form of a shape-shifting, gravelly-voiced talking parrot.
“Madam, you need to say goodbye to your daughter,” Death warns Louis-Dreyfus.

Visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson has been somewhat of a good luck charm for director Christopher Nolan. Their first collaboration, 2017’s “Dunkirk,” received eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. The pair’s follow-up, 2020’s “Tenet,” won an Oscar for Jackson in the Best Visual Effects category – the only award that year for Nolan’s pandemic-era release. But this year, both Jackson and Nolan arguably topped what they had done together before with “Oppenheimer,” the blockbuster biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer that is expected to earn multiple Oscar nominations in January.
For the film – a three-hour drama that tells the story of Oppenheimer and recreates the Trinity Test, the first nuclear detonation achieved by the United States – Jackson says Nolan had one specific edict which the visual effects team was required to follow.

When Aaron Horvath started working on “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” he and his fellow director, Michael Jelenic, knew they wanted to avoid the mistakes that had plagued so many video game-based movies in the past. They wanted to make this movie a cinematic expression of a gameplay experience. “We knew that people coming into this movie love Super Mario as a character, but they also love Super Mario as an avatar,” he tells Gold Derby during our recent chat as part of our Meet the Experts: Film Animation panel (watch the exclusive video interview above). The two wanted to encapsulate the visceral emotions that players experience when playing the game. “For us, it was the challenge of blending the emotional experience of playing a game with the emotional experience of watching a movie. That sort of core approach informed us all throughout.”

San Francisco, Aug 24 (Ians) Google has announced that users can now see speaker notes while co-presenting Google Slides in Google Meet.
Earlier this year, the company added a feature that allows multiple people to present a Slides presentation together in Meet.
“Starting today, co-presenters are now also able to view speaker notes,” the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost on Wednesday.
This means that primary and co-presenters can now read from the same speaker notes while engaging with their audience during a presentation.
This will allow everyone to present with greater confidence and reduce context switching between Meet and Slides.
The company further mentioned that this new feature requires a computer with a Google Chrome or Edge browser.
Moreover, this feature does not have admin control.
Earlier this month, the tech giant had introduced a Q&a moderation feature for the video communication service ‘Meet’.

Actor Syed Raza Ahmed, who is currently seen in the fiction show ‘Meet’, revealed that he is a guitarist and a singer too, and music is his secret “mantra” to keep calm in any situation. Most actors go through umpteen trials and detailed research to prepare for their character and play it in the best possible way, however, Raza could actually relate to his character in the show very well.
Just like his character, he has been in love with music since childhood and it is really helping him do complete justice to the character.

“However, this is the first time that my secret talent is helping me ace an onscreen role. My character, Shlok, is also a musician and a singer in the show.

San Francisco, April 23 (Ians) Google has added a new feature which will allow users to co-present Slides with support for multiple people in Meet.
“As the primary presenter, you can assign participants to co-present Slides with you. As a co-presenter, you can see the audience, presentation, and Slides controls in one window, navigate the presentation, and start and stop media within the presentation,” Google said in a blogpost.
This new feature will eliminate the need to ask a colleague to move to the next slide in a presentation, leading to smoother transitions and minimal distractions.
In addition, this will further bridge the gap between people working from different locations, according to the company.
This feature is rolling out now and will see wider availability over the coming weeks, the company said.

San Francisco, April 20 (Ians) Google has rolled out the ability to switch off individual feeds in Meet.
“You can now turn off the video feed from other participants during a Google Meet call. This can be helpful in situations where you want to focus your meeting view to just the presenter or hide participants with distracting video feeds,” Google said in a blogpost.
This feature will only have an effect on users’ experiences; other participants will not be notified, and their experiences will not alter.
The feature will be available on Google Meet on the web and mobile devices.
In addition to this new feature, Google is also making it possible to block out all feeds except for the ones belonging to the people who are currently presenting.
Users can enable it by selecting ‘Audio only’ before joining a meeting, however, it’s only available on mobile devices for now.

Ashi is really excited about her new look and is doing a lot of hard work to get the nuances right of her disguised character.
She said: “Although I am really excited about the upcoming track in the show, carrying the South Indian ensemble is not that easy, considering how I am used to short hair that I don’t need to manage while shooting. However, after a long time, I am getting to dress up in a proper feminine style, in contrast to how Meet dresses up.”

Season 3 of The Mandalorian introduced fans to a new villain in Din Djarin’s orbit — the pirate king Gorian Shard. He’s covered in green vines, so it’s hard to tell who plays him. And it’s not surprising that even hardcore Game of Thrones fans haven’t recognized the actor behind this intriguing character.

After working with “Weird” Al Yankovic on a Funny or Die spoof trailer 10 years ago, “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” director and co-writer Eric Appel had more than enough time to think about what a feature version of the satirical take on Yankovic’s life might look like on screen. But when it finally came time to make that dream a reality, Appel didn’t even have a full month to shoot. The film’s whirlwind production lasted just 18 days and required discipline, planning, and a little luck to pull off.
“It was a bit of a miracle,” Appel, a Directors Guild Award nominee for “Weird,” tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview as part of our Meet the Experts: Directors panel. Starring Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al, and featuring numerous celebrity cameos – including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Conan O’Brien, and more – “Weird” is a comedy satire of musical biopics that...

San Francisco, Jan 30 (Ians) Google is rolling out a new feature to its video-communication service ‘Google Meet’ which will allow users to share access to the content they are presenting in a meeting with attendees, including everyone on the Calendar guest list.
While making the presentation, the users can share the file from the floating action menu or via the suggestion in the Meet Chat, the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost.
The new feature is helpful because by allowing sharing directly from Meet, users can easily share presented content without having to switch into another window to grant access.
“This makes it easier for meeting attendees to follow along with your presentation, find and reference your material later on, and continue working on action items from the meeting,” Google said.
Moreover, the company also announced that whenever users paste a link into the meeting chat, they will...

Over the 13 years James Cameron has spent making his "Avatar" sequels, the film industry has gone through all manner of drastic changes. In an era where superhero movies are some of the only sure-bets at the box office and there are way too many new streaming options on a weekly basis, can the "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" and "Titanic" director hold onto his crown as the King of the World?
This is James Cameron we're talking about, so the answer is, "Most likely." It helps the first of his "Avatar" sequels, "Avatar: The Way of Water," appears to be as visually opulent as one might expect, with CGI water that somehow looks more "real" than the actual thing. "The Way of Water" also sounds inspiredly weird, even for the world of "Avatar," what with Sigourney Weaver playing a Na'vi teenager. Plus, you just know the oceans of Pandora are going...

Ashi Singh, who’s seen as Meet Hooda in the daily soap ‘Meet’, has shared her experience of performing a daredevil stunt in which she has to jump on a moving road-roller for a sequence in the serial.
“I love performing my own stunts in the show. In fact, when I was first informed about the scene of jumping onto a road-roller, I was a little skeptical as to how would I pull it off. But I went with the flow, and we got the perfect shot in just a couple of takes. The best part was that I could pull off the scene exactly how my director had envisioned it and it was my decision to do it without a harness.”

The longest-running TV show in America is getting a new executive producer ahead of its 75th anniversary.
David P. Gelles will take over as EP of NBC’s Meet the Press on Sept. 1, with the program’s current EP John Reiss shifting to a full-time role as EP of Meet the Press Reports, the deep-dive streaming spinoff of the political program on NBC News Now.
Chuck Todd serves as the anchor on both programs.
“David intuitively understands the core of what we do at Meet the Press, which is not to simply put on a good show every Sunday,” said Todd Wednesday. “It’s to put on a show that gets to the crux of our political reality and unpacks its relevance on our viewers’ lives in a way that nobody else can.”

The second season of “Euphoria” continued to explore teenage sexuality and drug use in sometimes graphic and heightened fashion, so it should be no surprise that even something as normally benign a high school play was blown out to epic proportions. In the Season 2 episode “The Play and Its Double,” Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow) puts on an original production called “Our Life” that recreates numerous scenes from “Euphoria” and the show itself spins between past, present and future in an almost seamless fashion that leaves the viewer exhilarated (and probably a little breathless).
Credit for the visual flair exhibited in the episode goes to director Sam Levinson and cinematography Marcell Rev, an Emmy Award nominee for the episode.

Chile’s Santiago Lab, the Santiago Film Festival’s industry initiative to support Ibero-American projects in development, has selected 28 titles, 14 fiction and 14 documentaries, culled out of hundreds of entries from across Latin America and Spain.
Some of the titles were picked from other festivals’ industry events such as “Diamante,” from Malaga’s Mafiz; Constanza Figari’s “A Woman Wants to Die,” which Sanfic awarded at Industria Guadalajara this year, along with “Mc Silencio,” a Colombian production from Medellin, an emerging audiovisual hub in Colombia, said Sanfic Industry head and festival co-founder, Gabriela Sandoval.
The same goes for some of the documentaries such as “The Silence of a Patio” a gripping documentary about the dark history of the Casa de la Beneficencia of Castellón, Spain which was presented at Doc Valencia. Docu “Bloques Erraticos” is the first full-length feature doc of Thomas Woodroffe whose acclaimed shorts include “Austral Fever” and “Holding Desire.
