The past episode ends with Louisa arriving back in Portwenn, pregnant, letting Doc know he is the father. He responds in his usual haphazard, insensitive way. It is obvious that she still loves him and he loves her. Much of this episode revolves around Louisa. One is her return to teaching. She interviews with one really weird headmaster. Then there is her reception by the townspeople who can't stop the whispering. One funny scene has to do with a man who admits he may be gay. Martin looks up research on line about current information on gay men which causes hilarity. The episode ends in a kind of chaotic way.

This episode begins EXACTLY as the prior episode ends--with Louisa popping back into Martin's doorway...and she's pregnant!! She's moved back to Portwenn and this is a problem, as she's no longer running the local school. In fact, she needs to interview just to get a teaching job at the school. As for the school, its new head is a guy that you KNOW is doomed. After all, you know that eventually Louisa will get her old job back and so some horrid disease is likely for the headmaster--which is exactly what happens!! Predictable but also a bit mean-spirited in my opinion. Additional plots are a strange infertile couple as well as Dr. Montgomery. Overall, it's only a fair episode at best--mostly because the main plot was too easy to predict.
