Fresh and brutaly honest
barbararomanowska30 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Theres not many movies (if any) about fate of senteced mothers. But here it is patiently showing sad and boring routine of the prison life, heartbreak of separation from your newborn and fear of losing your child after three years. In the meantime we see a gurad much more similiar to the prisoners than it seems. She spends most of her time in the prison and thirves there but has a hard time building realtionships in the outside world. Seemingly rude and strict she turns out to be compassionate observer.

Overall it is difficult story about motherhood (in many aspects of this word) in the world of absurd and hardships.

Its a rather lenghty and static movie, showing everything (including childbirth but also not interesting details) without any emabarrassment. So i guess it not going to be everybody's favourite.

More than expected

It is a heavy, uncomfortable but a sensitive and heart-warming film.

It takes its slow motions from the beginning as the scene is in a woman prison in Odessa. We get to know sentenced women who has killed someone. Either the cheating husband or his lover.

They all have a child. Most of them gave birth during their prison time.

We can follow the absurdity, cruelty of their life as well as their children in prison and the guards.

At the end we can experience a reliving moment as how life, humanity, emotions, woman towards a child can raise above all hardship that life brings especially in an ex-communist country Ukraine.

A beautiful movie/documentary
an-0689330 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I would say it's more of a movie than a documentary. It goes through the life of a woman who is sent to jail after having a baby, and then it shows the lives of other women too.

There are scenes that make you lough and scenes that make you love, smile, and so on. The director is trying to show every aspect of the story because it's not just a prison, but a place with kids.

It may look boring, but it is not. Following along with Lesya, it creates questions: what will happen to her son? Will they send him to an orphanage? Will a family member take him?

If you are into this kind of movies is worth watching!

Boring as a film, not enought to act like documentary film
Lukypko6 June 2022
The first two minutes of the film are unneeded and can be easily removed without any (negative) impact to the film.

I was able to watch it only for about 35 minutes, because it was boring. It is not a film which has a story and it is not a document which describe feelings of women and their everyday life. It would be really better to see this interesting topic as a documentary film without trying to make it as a "film".

Film was presented with subtitles, which is not bad at all, subtitles were white color, but background was too bright, so sometimes it was impossible to read them.
