It is what it is..?

Warning: Spoilers
For a 20 minute film, this wasn't terrible. (If you are a young teen/kid). I'm 30 so it wasn't my cup of tea but i can't berate it too much. It was nice to see Disney use a plus size girl as the main character, that was definitely a point for them, but obviously the storyline is ridiculous. A vampire/human who struggles fitting in as she's not fully either, tries to fit it with the popular vampires at her new school, and fails miserably. A typical story where she realises the true friend she had all along accepted her for who she was when she revealed she was a vampire, and the cool kids turned out to be the bullies. I could watch it again if i had too but wouldn't pick it out myself.

Adult supervision required: They ruined a potentially good story

This could have been a great lesson on how to deal with your own issues of uniqueness and how to be kind and open-minded to people that are different than you by using the vampire story as the analogy. Instead, the adults responsible for the content chose to add a secondary story-line that deals with teenager hormones that most children don't even care about yet, that is best left to parents or responsible caretakers to address with love and their own family values, not adult movie-makers who think they know better and want to mold children in their own fashion. Movie-makers and story-tellers need to be upfront about what their objectives are and not disguise their motives with "Disney" and "children" as a Trojan horse. Watch it yourself, and if you want this movie to talk about something you don't want to talk about yourself, then have at it.

Brilliant diverse and endearing storyline

I didn't expect this story to be so sweet but when it ended I was momentarily stunned with its impact on me. The first thing I loved about it was all the representation, there are numerous people of colour, the main character doesn't have the typical female disney lead look, there's lgbtqia+ representation and several female characters! I was shocked when I saw the other reviews critising this shortfilm and wondered if it was because it was for them and so they didn't get it but any young person who is a member of minorities and feels that struggle growing up will love this. More like this please Disney!
