Nick and Morty
mattrabbi6 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty decent episode. Rick and Morty each go on their own solo adventures. Morty tries to gain his independence from Rick, but ends up realizing he's forcefully attached to this guy Nick through the small portal, making it a similar relationship to the one he was going against. Only in this instance, Nick goes completely rogue against Morty.

And Rick does what he does best: goes to extreme lengths just to prove a point, reinforcing his title as the pettiest man in the universe.

One of the funniest gags this episode HAS to be Jerry joining in to trash Rick's garage, but the literal first thing he smashes turns him into a puddle LOL.

Also interesting setup for the 2nd part finale, where Rick leaves Morty and goes off with the crows who taught him empathy. Definitely interested to see how this will end in the second part.

So fun and entertaining with a great amount of emotional essence. Both the ideas and execution were just brilliant and I really enjoyed this episode. Also, the small details and storylines were nice as well, like the post-credit or the way Morty kills the guy.

If we could have discarded some lame episodes between 3-7 (or let garbage goober have them), it would have been a great season. But we all agree that we can call this season the most unbalanced one.

A Pretty good Part. 1
ariasisaac-890856 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I think its good set up for the final episode. I didn't quite feel the emotion at the end of it, mainly and unexpectedly because the writers soon treat it as a joke. I'm fine with some emotion being sacrificed for humor, but the nuances for it being funny didn't feel 100% organic, on with Part. 2.

An Easy 10

Warning: Spoilers
I'm only rating this 10* for 1 reason (Spo*lers ahead)

The moment they were trashing Rick's garage and Jerry started joining in & just melted & Morty just went 'Whatever man' just summed up Jerry in a nutshell for 5 whole seasons. And that makes me happy.

Awesome

HUGE improvement from the now-infamous "Season5 Middle Episodes". I think we can all agree after Rickconvienent Mort, they sort of phoned it in. But the last few episodes of the season are good. Then this episode is great!

Two Crows
sethdiman6 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Neat episode, the portal linking Morty with some other guy was a really cool concept that I think they executed really well. And Rick goes on an adventure with two crows trying to prove they're better than Morty. You'd expect he expands his pettiness in this experience, but in reality he gains empathy.

Has everything the previous eight episodes lacked
BitFangs6 September 2021
Look, if you're here for the "best" ever episode or the masterpiece, then your expectations are unrealistic. This episode may not be the best of all but it's definitely more entertaining and wholesome than all the previous episodes of season 5.

Anyone hating on this episode just wants to hate on the series because they think Rick and Morty isn't the same TV show it was before. But, hey, stop complaining and enjoy the ride while you can. After 10 years, this episode will still be the best of the best and you will still be complaining with that attitude.

This episode was extremely funny and felt like the perfect standalone set up for a brilliant finale.

Rushed and unearned
thekingmanx6 September 2021
I have yet to watch the second part yet but this was not great. There were some funny bits here and there but they kind of fly over your head with the ridiculous pacing. I swear this episode alone could have been a two parter. A plot with Morty was ok but kind of underwhelming and predictable. The B plot with rick and the crows was better, more funny moments, but still felt rushed and unfocused and ricks character arcing being so sudden and unrealistic is so confusing I can't tell if this is a bit. By the end we are left with what feels like a very unearned and unrealistic emotional followed with one of those "drunk rick rants" that by this point feels like the show is just parodying itself. Still, better than every other episode this season besides the first one.

Edit: After watching the "second part" I still feel the same way about this episode if not even more negative. This just feels like filler before a really good episode that didn't need to be here. This episode really has nothing to do with the final episode, so I'm left here wondering why it was even called a 2 parter in the first place.

Heavy is the Crow-n.
southdavid8 September 2021
I appreciate that this was an hour long special in some regions, here in the UK we got 9 and 10 straight after each other, but definitively as different episodes. (Though two that were intrinsically linked).

Disappointed yet again in his grandson, Rick (Justin Roiland) decides to dispense with Morty (Justin Roiland) as his sidekick and, following a spin of a random wheel, chooses two crows to be his new companion. Though initially a joke, he bonds with corvus, before falling fowl (sic) of a race of super intelligent crows. Morty meanwhile has made a new friend, having spilt portal fluid on his hand he is linked to Nick (Nicholas Rutherford) who claims to be a former associate of Rick's and who has a portal in his thigh, but who currently resides in a mental institution.

Solid episode that does much of the heavy lifting for leading us into the season finale. Rick actually calls out the nearest thing that the episode has to any form of film parody, or homage. That being that the advanced crows look like the villains from "The Dark Crystal". Both the episodes largely cut out the supporting family, with only Jerry really appearing in this one.

Morty's story is definitely the weaker of the two, with Nick clearly being a wrong 'un from the get-go but the action scenes were clever and the resolution was fine. It does, as others have said, feel a bit abrupt that the interaction with the crows is the thing that finally wakes Rick up to the idea that he should be nicer to his family. . . When perhaps more gradual appreciation of it across the season might have been better placed.

It was nice to finish with another fourth wall breaking drunken ramble though, about "Rick and Two Crows" the new spin off show that will definitely be running from now on.

The Rick and Morty Fake Breakup Episode
Aleta_Nook12 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode looks like it was written by writers who were fighting over what to put in their episode and that's why it turns out to be a complete mess. Morty is a hypocrite, he goes on his knees and begs Rick to replace him, so Rick does that and Morty the ungrateful little brat starts crying and playing the victim.

Morty seems more like Season 1 Morty now. Naive and desperate for Rick's approval. It's like the writers didn't even watch seasons 3-4 to know how much more rebellious and hateful he acts towards Rick. His story also crosses over with predictable and stupidity and goes against his whole character development. Why would Morty help somebody break out of a mental asylum? Did he de-age 10 years? How did Morty get so OP with zero training this season as well? Clearly Beth got into the body of this kid because he's now a complete 180 from how he was when Rick turned himself in. Morty, while sad, accepted it, here, he's bawling his eyes out and clinging to him not to leave. Morty spent this entire series bemoaning about how bad Rick is and how he ruined his life and here, he's acting like he's the best thing ever, like whaaaaat???

Speaking of OP, Rick is also OP because he somehow all of a sudden can use wires that come out of his arm. This is not science anymore, Rick and Morty is fantasy confirmed. The crow idea is fine on paper but it could've been executed much better.

There are so many problems with the ending. First of all, it was way too short to even be emotional. Rick didn't say goodbye to the rest of his family and how would loved ones break apart without a hug or kiss? That could've been so heart-warming to watch. It just reminds you that this whole season was rushed and needed more time in the oven. It was emotionally manipulative just to fake break up Rick and Morty, the premise the whole show is based around. After seeing Rick and Morty break up so many times even though this was done in a more emotional way, it still is tiresome to watch by this point.

This episode was sooo disappointing. It wasn't really that funny, relying more on soap opera ish drama than humor. The crows could've been played as a tongue in cheek joke like it seemed like they were going for but the whole episode is played for drama instead. It had the opportunity to dive into the complicated relationship between Rick and Morty but instead, is just another one of those episodes where they fight and break up no big deal and then go on stupid adventures.

Here I got it back to normal
ericstevenson7 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I made the mistake of watching the second episode first. I did in fact admit this didn't have that much to do with the next episode. Anyway, this features Morty at first deciding to use Rick's portal gun and go on his own adventures. Rick randomly thinks of things he'd rather do other than be with Morty. He ends up picking two crows. Rick dumps them on a crow planet, but meets giant crows who want to help them.

Morty got some portal...stuff on his hand which also got on the leg of some guy named Nick. They decide to help each other out and they have these really cool ideas where Nick attacks people by putting stuff through Morty's palm. Nick does help being malevolent and Morty uses his hand he severed from a train to suck Nick into his own demise. The crows find out Rick randomly chose two crows and turn on him. The two crows come back to his defenses. I have to admit that the plot was very heavy, but it did end up being a great story. ****

I think its the beginning of the ending
aboalhyjaa6 September 2021
This episode was good, rick and morty each find each other's value and why do they need the other partner.

In my opinion, this episode means one thing, either its the beginnings of something bigger in the show, or its the beginning of the ending of this show. Hopefully, it will be the first.

What happened to Rick??
saje_6 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode started off pretty well, even though it wasn't amazing it was definitely one of the better first halves of this season. I really wished they touched more on the idea that Morty was going back to their old adventures and fixing the destruction caused by Rick's carelessness, that's a very intriguing idea and we didn't even get to see Rick's reaction to it. Seemed kind of irrelevant by the end. Morty's plot was pretty enjoyable, but Rick is where my issues lie. He really just doesn't seem like Rick at all. I understand that the point of this whole season has been to make Rick into a more empathetic person, but it has not felt at all like a smooth transition. He goes from basically telling Morty that he's no better than garbage, to being all kumbaya because...some crows connected with him?? That'd be fine if it was a gag, but it's clear that they are genuinely trying to evoke emotion with this, and I felt absolutely nothing. Rick can become better while still being Rick, that's the main point I'm making I guess. It's hard to connect with what feels like a stranger.

This isn't the finale
abigoldberger10 September 2021
Thinking of it as a stand - alone episode, it's real bad. The whole plot is tasteless and boring, I feel like the reason this is overrated is because of it's great followup. Please try thinking of it as another ramdom episode, then think of the plot and you'll be weirded out. Nobody's acting like themselves, especially rick, and the two crows are just such a stupid plot! How the hell did they change Rick. It's just a real bad plot, maybe the worst but not the worst episode, cause there are other factors too.

Rating it as a stand - alone episode it's just bad
abigoldberger10 September 2021
I feel like a lot of the praise this episode gets is only because of the finale. If you think of this episode as just another random solo episode, it's just the whole plot's bad, boring, and tasteless. There are worse episodes, but the plot of the two crows is the worst plot in my opinion. Sorry, but I have to do this.

I know you want to like it...but its awful
garabedian1237 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I know you're going to rate it a 10 just because you hope they will do better next season. But its a 1, no its lower than a 1, Its a Nothing!

We waited 3 weeks for 2 non -sequential episodes...what was the point? Why not build up on evil morty? Why build up crows over a whole episode only to ditch the idea 10 seconds into the 2nd episode? They have no ideas? Or too many?

If the joke was that Morty was replaceable, then the payoff should have been that we find out he is irreplaceable, or so tied in to Rick. That maybe he is Rick. But nope. We get a story that we the audience know is made up, but that Morty does not. Why not throw us some new information. Nope we get a lazy cop out. What an awful season and what a horrid series finale fingers crossed. Because i want to save Rick and morty...by cancelling it.
