A Loveletter
josephellis26 November 2021
That's all this really is to me. A Loveletter to the show, everyone's all grown up and to be honest it's so different and yet very familiar. And it's also a lot darker and emotional, which is unexpected from this comical show. People say this show is struggling to be relevant but in all honesty, what are they talking about? This depiction of the future, whether you like it or not is depressingly real. Humor and culture and "being offended too easily". All of this was on point. It was annoying at first when they used the "this is the future" joke but it stuck with me because honestly this is the direction the future is heading. I cannot wait for the next episode of this new fresh start. Which feels like a big climatic end to a legendary series. And I wish it was.

Edit: I just watched this twice with my younger brother. We both liked it again. But I feel like only fans of South Park would find this special. It relies on old characters and general knowledge of the show to uphold it's quality. This really is not just a love letter to south park, but to the fans.

back with a bang

Trey and Matt show once again that they can come back whenever and however they want. Regardless of what immoderate subject they chose. Creative Covid stand up comedy jokes is already drawn out as it is, so being able to keep an engaging hour special about it was a reassurance to me that the show had not lost its charm. Throughout the whole episode you get nostalgic auras, a surprise every scene. From who ended up working where to who ended up marrying who. It was all beautifully interconnected together. The special kept the same formula of south park with its dark undertones and joke layering. This whole special reminds you of how much story there really was left to tell in South Park. Definitely going to buy the part 2.

I enjoyed it

If you're a fan of South Park, you'll love this and all sorts of references to the show, their pandemic special. If you're not a fan, maybe you'll have a good laugh too.

Some of those twists and turns, it did NOT see coming. LOL. Future Cartman and future Kenny are what!? XD Hahaha. And that ending though! I'm excited about what looks like the Part 2.

The laughs are fewer but overall still very enjoyable
dougfm25 November 2021
It's fun seeing the boys all grown up. Yeah there aren't as many laughs as a normal show but I think it's a worthwhile tradeoff. I really enjoyed the whole Tegridy Weed plot in the past so I got a kick out of it that it made a return. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so I assume there will be a part 2, probably in lieu of another full season. I want to know more about Butters and is Cartman pulling off the most elaborate prank on Kyle of them all? I guess we'll all have to be patient a little longer.

South Park has always been great at poking holes in all of our societal flaws. This special is amazing, original and hilarious. I can't wait to find out who victor really is!

Better than the previous ones
muchobliged26 November 2021
Some repetitive jokes aside, this one was definitely a step up compared to what we've seen the last couple of years. Not the absolute best, but certainly a reminder of what South Park CAN be. Finally, it was about the kids (albeit in grown up form) again. Also, I feel like they're gonna wrap up the whole 'Tegridy' story (which I HATE) in a satisfying way. Enjoyable throughout.

Blame China!!! - We're Missing A Song
nrgigaba1 December 2021
I watched South Park: Post Covid soon after the passing of Virgil Abloh. I've been watching a lot of Virgil x Kanye interviews lately, a paragraph didn't pass without Kanye mentioning the South Park episode where they threw jabs at his fashion. I realize how much social commentary South Park made and the impact on our landscape.

Post Covid is not any less. They throwing jabs at the pandemic, anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theories, cancel culture, censorship of comedy etc.

The censorship of comedy is one of the things which stands out in this movie as it tries to censor itself whilst mocking how much effect censorship has on comedy (people will say this South Park's comedy sucks - uhm duh - that's the point they are trying to highlight when it comes to censorship).

Go in with an open mind and try not comparing it with South Park of years past.

Not bad!
Midget_141427 November 2021
Not the type of movie or show that I typically watch but the movie was pretty funny, basically the movie was enjoyable. I liked it even more than the pandemic special episode! Some bad reviews I don't know why it's their opinion I guess.

Truly special
lotheravanti22 December 2021
This, this right here is something truly special. It goes beyond just humor and goes to the heart of what's ailing us as a society today.

I didn't expect this show, of everything, to shine a bright ray of hope, but it did. Thanks.

Decent special with some redundant jokes
Alex_Crook25 November 2021
I'm kind of torn on this special. It has it's fair share of clever ideas and funny moments, but ultimately it is just decent. The jokes are repetitive, and it definitely loses some steam during it's hour long runtime. Getting to see the characters as adults is fun, but somehow it just felt sort of all over the place. I'm curious to see where it goes from here, but I can't say that I'm that excited or optimistic about the future of the show. That being said, I do think this special is better than either of the previous COVID specials. I'm hoping that with the next full season of South Park, we get back to the show we know and love, with less COVID themed episodes, and more wacky adventures.

Dull and poor.
kikkimikki4 January 2022
All my friends agreed this just was not funny. I mean South Parks specials sounds awesome. But they all kinda sucks. I dont care about the politics or story. There simply werent good enough gags or funny jokes. It felt amateur and poorly written. The bar is pretty low if this is good comedy.

A new breath
agomezpaez25 November 2021
Without a doubt, one of the best South Park episodes in recent years. Taking risky positions in character development but with the same humor. Definitely a path that can bring a second golden age for the series.

Likely my favourite special
BenkoUK26 November 2021
The story is very rich, but it doesn't feel like it's dragging on. Jokes are somewhat cliche, but they work great in a new setting. Thank you, Trey and Matt. You guys rock!

Unfinished

I know it's a two parter, but this is a very good episode. Cartman being jewish and all kind and considerate kinda is boring, but Stan's complex with his dad is great.

South park : Post Kenny's New Funeral
Laqshayaroraofficial25 November 2021
OMG this movie was so so funny, I loved the 1999 south park movie too but this one was even better, such a great story, seeing them finally grow up was super fun to watch, Alexa was hilarious, Eric cartman (my favourite character) is awesome as usual also loved his son (very similar). So much more to come.

Some people are posting negative reviews but if you are a south park fan you will surely love it. I personally liked it even more than the pandemic special episode.

Just to tell you - Butters' alter ego was Professor chaos ( You will understand this after watching it, no spoiler)

Improvement over the March special
promontorium199727 November 2021
It's an improvement and the episode feels fresh after so many years of stale episodes (at least since PC Principal took over the school). It was ok, not so many jokes (which is kinda of a joke in itself), but a decent story backing everything up. Cartman looks weird, not like one would expect him to look - he's still funny though, in a strange way.

All in all, the episode feels bittersweet, but in a good way. Makes you feel nostalgic about the old, hysterically funny episodes, while presenting some sort of a soft reboot for the series. It gets a 7/10 because so far it still feels under developed, but definitely there's hope for an interesting future for the show - instead of becoming a pathetic parody of itself like Simpsons and Family Guy.

finally a decent take (so far - part1)
nim-rod7725 November 2021
The previous ones were on the wrong side of the isle.. now its pretty hard to be .. considering time proved all conspiracies and virtues ) it doesnt backtrack its mistakes that much, and it doesnt push all the buttons, but it also doesnt do much bad. So its enjoyable.

The path towards virtue is winding and the bias needs to take several hits till its subdued. By 2024 i sense a southpark revolution.

Slow, dull, unfunny
roxlerookie2 December 2021
I'm a huge south park fan. I think the guys behind it are geniuses. But boy did this one fall flat. Lots of relevant criticisms of how modern society is at risk of evolving into, but overall it was just super unfunny and really quite annoying to watch.

Not the best of the three specials, but it exemplifies much of what I truly love about South Park
TheVictoriousV28 November 2021
All these years later, South Park still exists in a category of comedy all its own.

I don't know if those who still dismiss it as mere gross-out humour ever saw past the first three seasons, where the nasty jokes would soon come to function as vessels for topical commentary that, in turn, got at something deeper that's wrong with modern society (even a "dated" parody of the hype around Paris Hilton works quite well in the Cardi B/Kardashians era). I don't know if critics know how human the characters became, how escalatingly insane each episode's plot got (oft adding to the effect of its commentary), or how all-encompassing the social satire got (thus falsely earning labels like "centrist" and "nihilist" for simply acknowledging insanity within all contemporary groups that possess it, and for pontificating that squabble may be an inevitability of America, as suggested in I'm A Little Bit Country, if not humanity itself).

South Park: Post COVID isn't quite up there with the show's finest moments. However, much like the other two COVID specials, it provides the multi-layered wit and go-getter attitude of Trey Parker and Matt Stone -- where each opportunity for a joke is taken -- that was often missing from the later seasons. Of course, the movie also works better the more you know about South Park. It's almost funny in and of itself to see these characters actually age; even funnier is the fact of what's happened to each of the kids.

Of course raging anti-semite Eric Cartman became one of the most deeply faithful Jews of his era (in what might still be a gag at the expense of Kyle, so elaborate that procreation with a Jewish woman was necessary). Of course little comedian Jimmy Vulmer became one of the ultra-safe "late night Jimmies". Of course Kenny is deceased (again) by the start of the movie and of course his mouth is covered by something when we finally see him speak in a flashback -- his role in the film's plot also bolsters something that his Mysterion persona hinted at: the fact that, beneath the accident-prone pervert whose deaths we all laughed at, existed one of the most truly good-hearted persons in the sh-tshow that is South Park, Colorado.

Some jokes seem to suggest that this was created mainly as an ad for Paramount+ (the special has several gags about conglomorates and streaming services; the media even gives a plus sign to the next COVID variant). Even if that's what this project was initially meant for, in true South Park fashion, it manages to be much more than that.

Not a trilogy
SureCommaNot28 November 2021
Be aware, going into this, that it ends in a cliffhanger. I love South Park, but there's so much more the show can talk about than Covid. I was hoping this special, while entertaining in a lot of ways, would close out the three releases about the pandemic. I don't really need a fourth on the same topic.

Not exactly the South Park I remember
allthevines29 November 2021
I still enjoy South Park but with these covid episodes they sound more like Democrat shills instead of the neutral mock everyone and everything.

Take for example their utter resistance in mocking Sleepy Creepy Joe but will still mention the Orange Man. The utter mountain of material i would expect to come from them is absent. Why? And then regurgitate the "must take the vaxx to end the pandemic" which is simply untrue, and only pedalled by Democrats. I am not saying they cant have this, but for what i used to remember of South Park, they would have written the counter instead of a one way sick bucket. It is similar to the new age of SNL where the jokes are no longer jokes, rather they are narrative driven statements and need a big "applause" sign to tell the audience when to clap.

Can we just go back to the old SP when the stories were short and not bogged down by current narrative? Can we have a film with Adam Sandler as a golden retriever and Rob Schnider as a carrot?

But if they are going to continue down the road of jamming politics into each episode, at least have Grandpa as Sleepy Joe Biden, although i wonder whether they will get their permission slips signed by their Democrat overlords.
