"Rake" with a female lead
gdump29 April 2022
It's somewhat crude. It's full of weird, but believable situations. And it's funny. Not ROTFL funny, but I cackled out loud many times. And it manages to be almost totally about sex without any significant nudity, which I think is quite an accomplishment.

I'm hoping for a second season.

... why are sooo many subtitles just lacking
bjarias25 April 2022
... w/o her, there is no-show... lots of good performances, hers brings them together w-some-fun... though it's a tough series to stream episode after episode, it's a lot to digest.. dialogue comes sooo fast-continuously, subtitles are less than ideal at best... what can be done different on an S2 to improve the production... we might just find out.

Super entertaining

Well worth watching. Real life scenarios that could happen put into a television series that makes you laugh. Every episode did not disappoint me at all.

This show is just awful. It takes a great cast and completely burns them with early 2000s crash TV attempts to be edgy and taboo.

Trivialises a lot of subjects that don't need to be trivialised, largely for no greater narrative or point being made, just for a cheap laugh in an episode that goes nowhere filled with one note characters made up of lazy cliches, glib observations of the online dating space that haven't been bothered to be fleshed out.

I couldn't turn it off!
miss_calais26 October 2021
So I binged all episodes available and it's not a 10/10 because that would mean it's the best thing you have ever seen in your life, but it's pretty darn close. I put this on after sifting through everything else available and thought it would be a show to have on in the background whilst doing other stuff - but found I couldn't do other stuff. It's really good! I laughed more than I had in the past year and laughed a bit too loud at 2am but it's that's kind of show where you can't not laugh.

I like the cast , great mix of some well known faces like Stephen Curry and the lady that played boomer from Wentworth, and whilst I don't know of the lead actress she was the perfect fit for this , she is very likeable and funny!

The first episode or so is a bit far fetched or is it? I found I could relate a little too much to be honest and it was funny as hell but yes some may think come on now is she really scoring that many hookups? But realistically yes it happens and I love the humour involved with it all.

Give it a go for 2 episodes and you should be hooked. It's nuts but it's life!

Katherine Parkinson
alecic9215 March 2022
Is the only reason to watch this because she is the only thing that is good in it. Supporting cast and the majority of the material is stale but Parkinson does her best with it so there is some minimal enjoyment to be had for her fans.

Brilliant

Don't understand the negative reviews, it's not laugh out loud funny but proper giggle funny, and smutty funny. Great cast. Just love it. The situations she gets into are just hilarious, yea maybe not typical, but hell if you can why not!!!

Tasteless rubbish
clairegoodsell22 May 2022
OTT crude and disgusting. Only slightly amusing. I watched it because I have liked Katherine Parkinson in other shows but she has lost my respect now. What on earth was she thinking when she agreed to take part in this awful show; she must have needed to money.

Hilarious
Great show! The storyline and characters are well developed, timing is perfect. There are some hilarious scenes & overall it is very entertaining to watch.

My only complaint was that is was too short! Over after 8 episodes? Can't wait for Season 2, I'd already begun contemplating starting a spreadsheet of my own.... ;-)

So unbelievably bad...
collingsemmensfamily20 November 2021
C'mon Aussie, C'mon! Is this the best we've got to offer? Surely not. The cast is promising but the writing, the acting, the storyline... its dreadful. I feel sorry for Katherine Parkinson coming all the way down here for this. I. T. Crowd is certainly ain't. Couldn't get more than 2 eps in so I can only go by those for my review. C'mon Australia, we can do better than this.

A masterpiece
aliciabeukers2 November 2021
I binge watched the entire show in one day! Absolutely loved the show and highly recommend. The show has a great cast and is uniquely funny. The content is fantastic and a great take on what it is like dating in the current climate and particularly as a single Mum. I can't wait for season 2 to see where Lauren takes her dating escapades.

Really fun and an honest and refreshing look at the bonking needs of a single mum
elliemcrea6 November 2021
It's so great to finally see on screen a woman with sexual needs without the need to have a relationship with a man She just wants to be serviced but doesn't have time for any of the other nonsense! This portrayal is extremely rare - actually I cant think of another show that has yet shown that side of a woman's desire. Not all women want another relationship! I wet myself in places! Great casting, witty dialogue and the kids were bang on funny. I can't wait to see where this series goes, its got such great legs!

Loved it!
akerbeltz-353937 August 2022
Funny and heartwarming. Believable characters who you grow to love as the series develops. Plenty of laugh out loud moments and a realistic look at the modern single mother. Great debut from the writer and loved seeing Katherine Parkinson in a leading role. Can't wait for the next series!

Funny with fast paced!
mbosonotto9 June 2022
It is genuinely funny, with excellent dialogue and the pace was terrific. The main actor's method of dealing with the madness of what life throws at us really comes through in the show and at times you feel exhausted for her. I thought the show was not only brave but also refreshing compared to the usual it all ends happily ever after stuff...I was glued to it from start to finish. Hopefully there will be a season 2 🤞🏼

Amusing and will watch again
sexybeast96969693 June 2022
Single woman finds herself in strange situations, mainly centered around her "spreadsheet", a database of her sexual conquests since getting divorced. A tad strange that an Australian-made comedy would choose a British actress for the lead role, but no matter. Any fan of drama series Wentworth will be delighted at the fact that half of the cast seemingly appear throughout the series. The supporting cast are funny, the children are thankfully unannoying and funny. The shenanigans are mostly those which a lot of viewers may be able to identify with, and will see the funny side. Those giving low scores might want to watch the episode where she helps a lover get their head out of their a*s as I'm assuming they could use the assistance.

Great writing, well performed
jesse-162-10812018 May 2022
Fast paced, great gags that are performed well by an excellent cast. Good pace and just enough to get you hooked. The characters were well developed over the first couple of episodes and I look forward to seeing them develop in new situations....

Funny and Smart
stuffontheweb-832299 February 2022
So good to see a series that doesn't approach it's audience as dumb! Katherine Parkinson is incredibly funny and subtle. The Aussie and Kiwi cast that support her are first rate. It's unlike most Australian comedy - fast paced and real. The writing is exceptional and the series feels contemporary. I loved the kids and family life - as a parent we've all had our kids cut us down. Brilliant.

One of the best Aussie shows I've ever seen
Short_and_to_the_point31 January 2022
Absolutely loved it. If you're wanting something funny, quirky and a bit bonkers ;) then this is for you.

It's so great to see a show about a woman embarrassing her sexuality in a honest way.

Smut of the finest order
peterjamessharpe29 May 2022
Don't believe the reviews of one or two miseries on here; this is a very well written and well acted comedy.

The splendid Katherine Parkinson is the only one I've ever heard of, but it is well acted throughout, aided by some very witty writing. You could perhaps imagine her character as being something that the slightly more inhibited yet potentially reckless Jen in The IT Crowd might have dreamed up in her private, dirty fantasies.

I also noticed how well filmed it is, giving it the feel of production values above those possible on Channel 4's more limited budget. I'm only four episodes in at the moment and am enjoying the way it is thoroughly smutty, yet with no nudity and none of the gross-out moments that lesser comedies might have succumbed to. I think part of the enjoyment is wondering if such moments are just around the corner, yet I certainly won't mind if they never arrive. I don't know whether it's considered okay to make such comments, but I also have to say that Katherine Parkinson looks absolutely great in it.

Really Enjoying This
If you enjoyed "Motherland", this show has many of the same themes, just a lot more sex. A lot more.

Thoroughly enjoyable and great performances. Zahra Newman is, strangely, playing a British character, although her accent is spot on.
