Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the biggest releases of this generation. CD Projekt Red took a freaking nine-year period to make this game a reality. Now, among the buzz of The Witcher 4, this open-world title still holds a special place among the millions of fans. However, the journey of Cyberpunk wasn’t that smooth initially.
The game stumbled right after its launch in December 2020. After its release, the title was infected with bugs and glitches, making all the efforts in the long eight years go in vain. That’s when the Phantom Liberty Dlc comes in, which revived Cyberpunk‘s fortunes in September 2023. Now, it seems the end of the era of this popular open-world title.

CD Projekt Red has finished working on Cyberpunk 2077 after three and a half years of support following its release. The studio is now concentrating on its future projects, which include a new installment in The Witcher series and a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 had a rough start when it was launched in December 2020, receiving a lot of criticism because of performance problems and bugs. But CD Projekt Red worked on it, and in 2023, with the release of version 2.0, they made big changes to the game’s core mechanics, AI, and perk system. They kept working on it, and the final update, 2.12, dealt with the remaining balance issues and bugs, making the game much more stable and polished.

Lynne Ramsay’s next film, Die, My Love, is said to be a Sylvia Plath-style tale of grief that will go before cameras later this year.
Lynne Ramsay’s career as a director spans a quarter of a century, yet she only has four films to her name. Still, when those four films are Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar, We Need to Talk About Kevin and 2017’s You Were Never Really Here, you have the kind of filmography that would make many a filmmaker envious.
Despite not being especially prolific, Ramsay is said to have several projects bubbling away at the minute. We’ve heard in the past that she’s planning to work with Joaquin Phoenix again (following their memorable collaboration in You Were Never Really Here) in Polaris, although its been a couple of years this that story first appeared. Then there’s Stone Mattress, a project featuring Julianne Moore,...

With major new films from Lynne Ramsey, Francis Ford Coppola and Robert Eggers, the year promises a feast for fans
Polaris will be the fifth feature film completed in the 25-year career of the unprolific yet consistently excellent Lynne Ramsay, and her first since 2017. She works with a glacial patience matching the one sentence of information known about her next project: “Set in Alaska during the 1890s, an ice photographer meets the devil.” With real-life couple Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara as the only announced cast, either one could conceivably play either role, and both combinations would be equally tantalizing. But Ramsay is a singular talent, irreplaceable and irreplicable in her fluency with psychological violence and expertly calibrated fusions of brutal realism with stylistic liberation. Her sojourn into the frigid wilds brings her into unfamiliar territory, though the elemental minimalism in those endless expanses of snow and ice fits right...

"An epic adventure to return home." Epic Pictures Group has revealed the US trailer for the Canadian post-apocalyptic indie thriller called Polaris, from filmmaker Kirsten Carthew. This initially premiered at last year's Fantasia Film Festival (we posted a teaser trailer just before then) and it stopped by many other fests last year and earlier this year. It's now ready for a VOD release in Canada / US this fall for anyone who still wants to watch... Set in the frozen world of a post-apocalyptic 2144, a young warrior girl raised by a polar bear must fight to survive after she is captured and escapes from a brutal rival tribe. Carthew describes it as "Mad Max in the Arctic, an origin story of a world gone to shame that builds from themes of environmental stewardship/horror." Adding that, "it is inspired by eco-feminism and the need for significant cultural and sustainable change." Starring Viva Lee,...

There is magic at play in Kirsten Carthew's Polaris. It is set the year 2144. Earth has been ravaged and sent back to another ice age, one where the fish bleed green blood. Pockets of survivors eke out a violent and brutal existence in the perpetual frozen wasteland, armed with bows, axes and junked-up snow machines. And then there is Sumi, a feral young woman who hunts and gathers in harmony with a polar bear, more at home with the trees and the silence. She is introduced gleefully frolicking in the snow alongside her ‘mother’ in a post-apocalyptic paradise. That paradise is shattered when Sumi comes into contact with the local tribe of marauders, who steel her from her mother and put...

Just recently, we shared the news that Lynne Ramsay, who hasn’t released feature film since 2017’s “You Were Never Really Here,” has wrapped up production on a new film, “Polaris,” with star Joaquin Phoenix. That’s enough to get excited, as we rarely get new Ramsay films. However, the filmmaker is also teasing more projects coming down the pipeline, including another star-studded affair as Jennifer Lawrence is teaming up with the filmmaker for the upcoming film, “Die, My Love.” And though, the subject matter and title of the film would lead you to believe it’s a drama, the filmmaker thinks it’s actually a hilarious comedy.

Lynne Ramsay hasn’t made a feature film since 2017’s “You Were Never Really Here,” but the “We Need to Talk About Kevin” director is hard at work on a wide range of films. She’s currently in post-production on “Polaris,” a mysterious original film that reunites her with Phoenix (who stars alongside Rooney Mara). While appearing at the Sarajevo Film Festival over the weekend, Ramsay offered some hints about future projects she hopes to direct (via Variety).
After “Polaris” — which may hit theaters under the title “Dark Slides” — Ramsay said she is developing an adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel “Die, My Love” as a starring vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence. The novel tells the story of a woman who deals with extreme mental health problems after giving birth in a secluded French village.
“It’s quite simple,” Ramsay said of the project. “It’s not set in the Arctic.

Receiving a lifetime achievement award this week at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Scottish director Lynne Ramsay teased a slew of projects currently in the pipeline, heralding her much-anticipated return to the director’s chair since wowing Cannes in 2017 with the Joaquin Phoenix-starring thriller “You Were Never Really Here.”
Among them are a second collaboration with Phoenix, who earned best actor honors on the Croisette for that performance, as well as “Stone Mattress,” a revenge thriller set aboard a luxury Arctic cruise that stars Julianne Moore and Sandra Oh. There’s also “Die, My Love,” starring Jennifer Lawrence, which is based on the novel by Argentinian writer Ariana Harwicz about a woman living in isolation in rural France who loses her mind amid marriage and motherhood.
Then there’s the long-gestating “Moby Dick” film adaptation that the director has said would transport Herman Melville’s nautical epic into outer space.

San Francisco, July 27 (Ians) Video game developer CD Projekt Red (Cdpr), who developed franchises like The Witcher and Cyberpunk, has announced to lay off nearly 9 per cent of its workforce, or around 100 people.

We have talented people on board who are finishing their tasks and — based on current and expected project needs — we already know we don’t have other opportunities for them in the next year,” CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said in a blogpost on Wednesday.
The company also said that the job cuts will not be immediate as some employees will be let go as late as Q1 2024.

Kelly Clarkson reached deep within herself for a moving rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” on today’s edition of the “Kellyoke” segment of her Kelly Clarkson Show. Jaco Caraco accompanied her on the Appalachian dulcimer as her voice rose and dropped around Mitchell’s lyrics about being “as constant as a Northern Star” and the song’s famous refrain, “I could drink a case of you, ooh darling/Still, I’d be on my feet.”
The solitude of the performance only heightens the emotion she poured into singing the song.

Two months after releasing After the Magic, anonymous South Korean shoegaze artist 파란노을 (Parannoul) has unveiled a companion live album called After the Night. Listen to the project below.
Recorded at Kt&g Sangsangmadang Live Hall on January 14th, 2023, After the Night features Parannoul on keyboards and vocals, Yo and BrokenTeeth on guitars, Asian Glow on bass, 9SuK on drums, and Fin Fior on trumpet. The performance begins with the After the Magic opener “Polaris” before the band goes into older Parannoul tracks like “White Ceiling,” “Beautiful World,” and “Analog Sentimentalism.” The release even comes with a recorded video of the show, but don’t expect to identify any of the musicians — the stage lights keep each artist anonymous.

Having directed only four films over the last quarter-century, we’re not holding our breath when we may see the next feature from Scottish director Lynne Ramsay. However, with a handful of projects in development, we’ve been curious which one she’ll focus her attention on in the coming years. Courtesy of a masterclass at Doha Film Institute’s Qumra 2023, she’s now provided some updates on a quarter of projects in the hopper.
As reported by Screen Daily, Ramsay says first up she hopes to shoot Stone Mattress––an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 2011 short story for The New Yorker that will star Julianne Moore and Sandra Oh––starting this year. Backed by Amazon and adapted by Ramsay with Tom Townend, the thriller is set on an Arctic cruise ship. “It’s such a challenge, that film because it’s a boat in the Arctic – it [needs] all the elements aligning,...

Deadline exclusively revealed the Amazon-backed project last May during the Cannes Film Festival and there were reports it would start shooting in September 2022.

The 18th Camden International Film Festival on Maine’s mid-coast – an increasingly important destination for documentary filmmakers – wrapped its in-person portion Sunday after announcing a handful of awards.
Day After…, directed by Kamar Ahmad Simon, won the festival’s Harrell Award, chosen from a group of “some of the most significant documentaries of the year.” The film is described as “A philosophical ballad along the rivers of Bangladesh, transporting the rich and poor, young and old, East and West in a century-old paddle steamer.”
“The jury was unanimous in its admiration for this film, in which an old riverboat seems to contain an entire society’s worth of dreamers and hustlers, politicians and radicals,” juror Eric Hynes said, noting that the documentary employs “both hybrid techniques and dogged observational power. This is a dazzling work of nonfiction.”
The jury awarded a special mention to Polaris, another film with a nautical theme.

There is magic at play in Kristen Carthew's Polaris. That paradise is shattered when Sumi comes into contact with the local tribe of marauders, who steel her from her mother and put her in...

Paris-based international sales company The Party Film Sales has nabbed the rights for Antongiulio Panizzi’s hybrid documentary “The Girl in the Fountain,” a double portrait of icons Anita Ekberg and Monica Bellucci, which opened at the Torino Film Festival last November.
The story of an actress devoured by her own icon, the film alternates between archive footage of Ekberg and reenacted scenes by Bellucci, who retraces Ekberg’s weaknesses and choices, inviting the viewer to reflect on what it is like to be an icon, providing a fresh look at femininity, fame and media exposure.
The famous scene in Federico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita,” in which Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg take a midnight dip in the Trevi Fountain, hides a much more chaotic life – that of an actress consumed by her own iconic image, says Panizzi.

Damon Albarn has shared a live version of his new song “Royal Morning Blue,” a track from the Blur/Gorillaz frontman’s upcoming solo album The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows.
The track, like Albarn’s new album, was inspired by the singer’s view of Iceland from the piano where he wrote the LP. “That’s why the song opens with ‘Rain turning into snow,’ because it’s that moment, that feeling. In all the darkness that we have experienced, that was such a beautiful, positive thing,...

The Cannes Film Market’s Fantastic 7 sidebar returned this year for a pitching session showcasing some of the best genre film projects from emerging talent around the world.
Mònica Garcia Massagué, the general manager of Sitges Intl. Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, and the lead organizer of Fantastic 7, noted that “folk horror” was a recurrent theme in this year’s seven selected projects. The subgenre, which has gained wider popularity in recent years through the success of Ari Aster’s films “Midsommar” and “Hereditary,” typically involves stories inspired from traditional tales and set in natural or rural settings.
In Cannes, the Fantastic 7 initiative connects representatives from seven film festivals around the world who each select a project from their region that befits the Fantastic 7 frame; the project is then pitched to industry members, and the talent is able to connect with potential business partners for funding or co-production purposes.
