Callum Blue: Zod

Quotes

  • Zod : [punches Jor-El]  Defend yourself!

Jor-El : I have no powers. I used the blue Kryptonite to take them away, the same way I corrupted the Orb so none of you could rule this planet as gods.

Zod : But you did have it. You came with us in the orb, yet you harnessed the powers of the yellow sun for yourself. How?

    Jor-El : I shall never tell you.

  • 1st Elder : Jor-El, you stand before the ruling council charged with treason.

Jor-El : The technology I created was intended to heal those afflicted by wars and disease, not to resurrect the dead through cloning.

2nd Elder : The orb will ensure that Krypton's strongest will endure if our planet is ever destroyed.

Jor-El : But if we send the orb to Earth and it is opened, the clone's inside will develop extraordinary abilities under their yellow sun. The humans will be powerless against them. We cannot doom another planet's future to preserve our past.

2nd Elder : Perhaps you should've had more faith in your own race. You leave us no choice. The punishment for treason is death.

    Zod : Council.

1st Elder : Major Zod. Your presence is an honor, but this is a closed trial.

Zod : Well, I demand to be heard. I may have driven Black Zero back into the ice, decimating his ranks, but my accomplishments pale in comparison to this man's. Jor-El... he's the truest hero I have ever known. He has dedicated his life's work not to death... or war... but to creation. When Kandor fell, many of our brightest and most promising citizens perished in an instant. Krypton lost mothers... fathers... daughters... sons. What good will come if you extinguish another life unnecessary? I implore you... let Jor-El live.

2nd Elder : Your passion is noted major.

1st Elder : It is agreed. Jor-El, the council will spare your life. But you are ordered to complete the orb. You must include Major Zod's DNA and your own. If that fateful day of judgment ever comes to Krypton, our survivors on Earth will be lead by two of our planet's greatest heroes.

Jor-El : I, Zod, am in your debt.

Zod : Never forget that, my friend.

  • Zod : Jor-El. I'm guessing you're not here to cheer on the troops.

Jor-El : Call it a mission of redemption. I'll need all those blood samples. I can't let this project go on.

Medic : My orders come the ruling council itself. You have no authority here.

Zod : Medic, when the most renowned scientist in Krypton tells you to stop, then you stop.

    Jor-El : Thank you.

Zod : If the ruling council wants my blood, let them find it on the battlefield! Let Black Zero feel the bite of your weapons and the bravery of your hearts! SOLDIERS, MOVE OUT!

  • Tess Mercer : Well, hello.

Zod : I received your message. Unlike my superpowered Kryptonian comrade, you have a flair for the dramatic.

Tess Mercer : I think your deep-cover agent might have a different opinion. But I'm glad to see that his untimely death got your attention. I won't be toyed with.

  • Jor-El : Krypton is gone because you destroyed it.

    Zod : That's impossible. You're lying.

Jor-El : Here on this planet, when we emerged from the orb, we were shadows of our former selves. But those we were created from stayed behind on Krypton and had full lives; spouses, children. Many years later, you decided to lead a military coup to take over Krypton. But on the eve of your defeat, instead of surrendering... you chose to raze our planet.

Zod : How would you know that?

Jor-El : Because it is the truth. But we've been given a second chance, to have lives here on Earth, to live among the humans. To be different. To be better than we were before.

Zod : This is the same selfish morality that kept me from ever seeing my son again.

Jor-El : Perhaps, you are right. Perhaps, if I'd given you what you wanted, you never would have betrayed Krypton.

Zod : Like you betrayed me.

Jor-El : I feel your pain now more than ever.

Zod : How could you? How could you fathom my pain if you've never had a child?

    [realizing]

Zod : You do understand. That look in your eye... I've seen that before, in the mirror, when I prayed that you would bring my son back to me. You said... you said after we were put in the orb, our lives went on. We had families, spouses... children. You're hiding something with selfless conviction. The shields... you didn't put them in Metropolis, did you? You're protecting someone. Somebody that did not come with us. The same person that told you of Krypton's destruction. Someone from the House of El.

    Jor-El : No.

Zod : Someone you'd give your life for.

  • Zod : Release Jor-El.

    Faora : Major, I don't understand.

Zod : He will lead us to the one that will give us our powers. His son.

  • Zod : I just came to get a progress report on our search for Jor-El.

Tess Mercer : Let's just say that the, um... the noose is getting tighter.

[she shows him the surveillance picture of the House of El sigil with an unconscious figure lying in the middle of it]

Zod : This calls for a celebration.

Tess Mercer : [he pours a glass of wine]  Looks like you've already been celebrating.

Zod : Heh. I knew you wouldn't disappoint me. This is my favorite discovery on your little planet. "The wine cup is the little silver well where truth, if truth there be, doth dwell."

Tess Mercer : See, now I'm impressed. You've read your Shakespeare.

Zod : He's amusing, but... I find the pleasure I get from wine much more satisfying. Every sip... reveals a new riddle. A new truth. Just like you, Tess. Every time we're together, I discover something new. And I can't wait to see what my next sip reveals.

Tess Mercer : The bitter truth. That I'm not interested. We're keeping this partnership strictly professional.

Zod : The lady doth protest too much.

Tess Mercer : Whether she doth or not, I can guarantee she won't be revealing any more tonight.

Zod : [leaving]  But not to worry. Because while we were enjoying our drink, I had my people grab something much more valuable from your cellar.

  • Zod : None of you recall that tragic day. Because the moment your blood was taken was the last moment you remember of Kandor. But I can assure you, I have not forgotten. Each one of you, the last sons and daughters of Krypton, are all that is left from our beloved homeland. And I will not allow for your birthright to be denied. And Jor-El... he came with us in the orb, and somehow, he stole our powers from us. And yet he flaunts them all over this city, leaving his mark for us to see. When we find this traitor, we will force him to give us what's rightfully ours. We will be gods on this planet, and Kandor will rise again!
