Great acting by the lead actor and actress, this is a romantic drama that lets Erica Li (director, writer). I have watched this for probably the dozenth time on Disney+. I believe this movie is underrated and I was glad that Disney+ suggested it to me together with another Charlene Choi movie (77 Heartbreaks, also written by Erica Li).
I can't help but feel that Erica is trying to say something about how men misunderstands women (and I have to agree - as a man, I do think that way) and how some women are willing to sacrifice for love, in an old fashioned way. As a man, I already see the error in using the word "sacrifice" because that is exactly what Erica is trying to convey - it is not a sacrifice from the woman's point of view.
And that is what makes the romance worth it.
