Perfectly Pointless
reynoldswraptpe28 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
While maybe not quite as good as "Total Rickall", this episode is an all-timer and the perfect example of what this show is all about. The escalating Asimov Cascade of decoys building the tension with twist after twist after twist, with the ultimate twist being the entire episode was pointless because the "real" Smith family wasn't even on Earth! Now you can go back, watch it again and just enjoy every stupidly brilliant gag without investing wondering who's "real" and who's not.

But is it REALLY pointless? Because even though all the Earthbound Ricks we see end up being killed, they all also grow and realize how much they love their family. Considering all the rest of the Smiths are evolving (for better or worse remains to be seen), Rick's stagnant character development could finally see some change of it's own! A very exciting prospect. Or maybe I'm reading too much into a show where crucifixion comes back after cowboys.

Season 5 knows what it needs to do
spruceplank28 June 2021
Wow. This episode is honestly an embodiment of why this show is such a great show. The suspense, drama, comedy, and story-line all come together to create a masterpiece of an episode. Season 5 is off to one of the best starts yet and hopefully it can continue. Go watch this episode if you haven't!

Loved this

Warning: Spoilers
Love the classic feel of this episode, where it's a bit of a mind**** but totally enjoyable regardless. Initially when I watched this episode I was pretty tired, so I got lost a bunch throughout the episode, but still enjoyed it for what it was, simply put, which is decoys with huge egos killing each other.

On second watch I enjoyed it even more, so this episode definitely has rewatchability (which some episodes from season 4 lacked for me), I just wish there was a bit of a more clever payoff at the end, which would have pushed the episode to a 10 for me.

I did still enjoy the unexpected return of Mr. Always Wants To Be Hunted, and the reveal that all the decoys, spawned initially from our Rick, completely destroyed each other, while our Rick was just up on some regular adventure.

This episode also shows how crazy Rick would get if he stayed on Earth for too long (since he mentions the decoys are limited to terrestrial missions), which is really funny.

And the post-credit scene is probably one of, if not my favourite of the show so far, up there with Morty turning into a car.

Comparable to the heist episode and never ricking morty on the level of confusion. Was a fun episode though.

This will blow your mind
sardakartik28 June 2021
This episode has everything - suspense, drama, fun, action, lots of plot twists, violence, and philosophy - in just 20 mins. The end credit scene is also one of the best imo. Also one of the most confusing episodes. There will be many YouTubers trying to decode this one. Lot of offerings for theories and canonical storylines.

Up there with Total Rickall
maxglen28 June 2021
Absolute unfiltered chaos. I was very skeptical going into season five but both episodes have been up there with some of my favourites of the show. This season, at least as of right now is a real return to form and that's not to say the recent seasons have been bad but that this season is just so damn good (so far) here's to hoping next week is even close to being this good.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was great just as was last weeks. This episode was just fun, seeing different Ricks and family's. Also seeing them fight each other and wonder if they are real or were made. Mr. Hunt me or was also hilarious. And the end with him was also very funny. Overall this episode was good a very fun and unique episode. It's been a awhile since Rick and Morty had a strong start with two episodes. It feels like Rick and Morty is getting back to its good old days of fun and hilarious episodes. Great episode and so far looking like a great season.

So Far Season 5 is already starting strong. The Next Episode might be even better

Warning: Spoilers
This felt like an original idea they haven't done before. It once again is building the characters but this time differently. With various Parallels to other Scifi stories, this one succeeds finding a new voice of its own, without sacrificing any philosophy. There is Meta humor and its toned up compared to the Premiere, but I found it was put to good jokes, instead of lingering on its side gags. This is a good return to form for the creative department, much like its first three Seasons. Its not quite an A+, there's some moments that don't quite land, but I laughed consistently.

Pointless ans shallow
moaz-2129 June 2021
I got hyped at the start as i was waiting for plot twist or the punish line that is gonna add to the main plot of the series but it was just random stuff that led to nothing, good raw episode but feels more like a special or a filler.

Rick and morty is back!
ethanjjacobs28 June 2021
Season 4 went a little down hill but so far season 5 is back to the standards of the first 3 seasons. This episode was so confusing and mind blowing and I hope the rest stays at the same level.

8.8/10.

Good premise, great execution
mbficas3 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The typical Rick and Morty cold open involves some member of the Smith family getting killed or abducted, it isn't really a surprise anymore. It's just a strong signal that the episode is going to involve multiple Smith families floating around, and it does that well enough, but isn't entertaining in its own right for me.

This is an episode of cold opens strung together into a plot, and for the first three minutes, that's a drag. After a period of fatigue with the concept of Smith families getting killed by mysterious squids, the gimmick comes into its own, allowing for an episode that really doubles down on the nihilism, brings in a darker tone, and really surrenders itself to whatever creative ideas the creators had kicking around in their heads. This is all while building up to the fantastic climactic sequence of the episode skillfully.

I'd say this episode is a close relative of The Ricklantis Mixup and Total Rickall, two of my favorite episodes of the show. What makes those episodes great, and what makes Mortyplicity great, is having a premise that uses the dysfunction of the characters to its advantage. In Ricklantis Mixup, this comes in the form of Rick being inherently a jerk, even to himself, and to Morty, and expanding this out to a social scale where it can be used as an allegory for the US as we know it. In Total Rickall, it's having brain parasites that can only be defeated by realizing that the people you know and actually love as real people are all flawed and annoying and at times insufferable, given other fake people to interact with who are perfect by comparison. Here, the premise is used to really show what a war of the ricks would look like, with sci-fi gadgets turning the war into a constant and unending chain of hit and run attacks that kill very quickly, leaving the victors to probably be killed quickly themselves.

The show has long made gestures at character growth, always without it actually sticking. Heartfelt moments between characters, arguments that end with a meaningful resolution, arcs that solve problems, all shown and then abandoned so the show can maintain its present tone. This episode is that dynamic firing on all cylinders, where you'll see Smith families that are perfectly happy and Smith families that have become Texas Chainsaw Massacre scenarios. There's a dedication to showing the entire breadth of the spectrum that this episode winds up being intriguingly heartwarming and horrifying while maintaining a realness to the bickering most of the Smith families go through.

The art direction was on point throughout the episode. Locations familiar and new are portrayed beautifully, and I can confidently say this concept would have been impossible to do if not in the medium of animation. The various copy of a copy deformities in some Smith Families look great. I love the wooden marionette versions with their tinny voiceboxes and wooden contraptions, and the cloth puppet Smith family is really cute.

I think this'll remain one of the best loved episodes of the show. It starts from an interesting premise and goes above and beyond expectations to deliver something memorable, and it's good to know the writers haven't stopped trying to deliver that sort of episode.

WOW!
elirlandes28 June 2021
This season is getting better and better. This chapter was total chaos, which to tell the truth I'm not sure I'll see it fully understood. But without a doubt what Rick and Morty season 4 was not. These two chapters have been great.

Somebody hunt me!!
masoud_ahmadi28 June 2021
Just wow! R&M is back with one of the classic episodes. What can I say more? Just incredible. When I saw the trailer I knew this "hunt me!" one was going to be a great episode. I have a feeling that this season is going to be a memorable one!

I was expecting the presence of Prof. Poopybutthole in this episode which unfortunately did not happen.

Also, I think this episode could have been a better opening for this season.

The only thing I give 9 instead of 10 is that it could have had a mind blowing ending like the "Total Rickall" episode.

Good fun - but where's the payoff?
jamesamckeever28 June 2021
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this episode. So far this series is doing a lot better then series 4. I just felt like the plot didn't go anywhere, or even come to satisfying ending. Perhaps that's the point? Maybe it will pay off in a later episode?

I can see that people like this episode, and I totally get that. For me, I just always hope for the best of the best from the creative team behind Rick and Morty. This wasn't it for me.

This is only my first watch. I will edit my review after a few more watches.

Hope you enjoyed it!
