TruTV Greenlights Shaquille O’Neal Series
The recently retired NBA star is the host of Upload With Shaquille O’Neal, on which he, comedians Gary Owen and Godfrey, and a special guest scour the Web for the funniest online videos. They also will create their own viral videos, pull pranks and give their takes on pop culture. TruTv has ordered 10 episodes of the series, which was announced as part of its development slate back in April. Vin Di Bona and Bruce Gersh’s FishBowl Worldwide Media (America’s Funniest Home Videos) is producing; Di Bona, Gersh, Susan Levison, Beth Greenwald, and Shaq Entertainment’s Perry Rogers, Colin Smeeton and Mike Parris will serve as executive producers along with Mike Gibbons, who works on Comedy Central’s similarly themed Tosh.0. O’Neal is no stranger to being in front of the cameras — he currently is an analyst on TNT’s Inside The NBA studio show after his reality summer series Shaq Vs.

Justin Bieber Gets Beat Up In The Boxing Ring — Let’s Hope He Didn’t Hurt His Pretty Face!
Justin proves his might by taking on the World Heavyweight Champ. We hope he went easy on the teenage sensation!

He can sing, play a serious game of basketball and hold the attention of most any teenage girl, but now Justin Bieber is proving his might in the most serious way he knows how — getting beat up in the boxing ring! Justin and World Heavyweight Champ David Haye sparred in the ring March 14 with David tweeting, “Great workout in The Hayemaker Boxing Gym @justinbieber. You you sure can pack punch!! I’m now a Belieber! Stay Blessed!”

Justin has been proving his athletic prowess quite a bit recently, being crowned the Mvp at the NBA All-Star celeb game on Feb. 20 and even taking on Shaquille O’Neal on his reality show Shaq Vs. last year.

It is looking like Justin definitely has a few options should the music game not work out!

Shaquille O'Neal Celebrating Michael Jackson Themed Christmas
It's strange to think of Shaquille O'Neal as just a guy who plays basketball. Sure, he still is known primarily for being one of the most dominant centers of a generation (and currently helping to anchor a surging Boston Celtics club), but he has also been a staple of television, movies, music, advertising, charity and strange pop culture phenomena ever since he was drafted to the NBA way back in 1992. He'll be combining a handful of those things when he (or rather his alter-ego "Shaq-a-Claus") throws a party for a group of kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Roxbury in Dedham, Massachusetts today (Tuesday, December 7).

According to the report in the Boston Herald, Shaq will be challenging some of the kids to a dance-off with the help of the just-released video game "Michael Jackson: The Experience," which allows players to jump into some of the late superstar's most iconic moves and routines,...

Justin Bieber pics: In swimtrunks, on the court for 'Shaq vs.'
Justin Bieber is taking over your TV, one network at a time.

Before he makes his acting debut on CBS' "CSI" this fall, he's taking on Shaquille O'Neal on the season finale of "Shaq Vs.," airing Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 9 p.m Et on ABC.

We get an early look at what to expect, and it looks pretty fun so far.

We already know that O'Neal challenges Biebs to a dance-off. The two went head-to-head at Bieber's concert in Orlando, Fla. earlier this year.

But are they also going to throw down on the court?

Also, we're really confused why there are pictures of Bieber in swim trunks. Is there a swimming component?

Can Shaquille O'Neal Outrace the Fastest Man in the World? (Video)
Usain Bolt

There's some debate about who the current "Fastest Man Alive" is. Some people say it's Usain Bolt; some people say it's Tyson Gay. ... But at any rate, Tyson Gay is no worse than the second fastest man on the face of the Earth. And now, Shaquille O'Neal must beat him in a race.

'Shaq Vs.' (Tue., 9Pm Et on ABC) is a show where O'Neal takes on the top athletes in he world, challenging them in their own sports. Tonight's match-up: Shaq versus Tyson. The pair run a 60 meter race; except that Shaq gets a 30 meter head start. Hey! That isn't exactly cool! So O'Neal only has to run half as far as Gay?

Will the world's (possibly) fastest man win, even if he has to run twice as far as Shaq? Let's watch and see. And no matter who wins, is this even...

Shaquille O’Neal Has a Message For Boston: “Tanya Says Hello!”
In an upcoming episode of ABC’s Shaq Vs., Shaquille O’Neal awaits the judges’ verdict on his cook-off with Rachael Ray. When Shaquille O'Neal arrived for his press conference in Orlando, Florida, earlier this week, for a moment it seemed like he was about to make a major announcement. Maybe he was finally ready to reveal which NBA team he’d be signing with this year. But then he walked onstage with teen pop crooner Justin Bieber, and it was obvious that today wouldn’t be a day for answers. It was a day for crazy photo ops. (“Hey look, a really short and skinny white kid and a really tall and muscular black guy are standing next to each other! They’re like a human Russian nesting doll!”) This was a press conference with the other Shaq. Not the Shaq who’s played for 18 seasons (and counting) in the NBA,...

Justin Bieber vs. Shaq: The Epic Dance-Off! (Video)
For months now, the public has wondered: who's lighter on his feet, 16-year-old musical sensation Justin Bieber, or 7' 1", 235-pound NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal? And now, the magic of the Internet has delivered an answer. The "Baby" singer and the basketball giant—who has invited Bieber to compete against him on the next season of his television show Shaq Vs.—recently convened at the Fatcat Ballroom Studio in Phoenix, Arizona, to go toe-to-toe in an epic dance-off. Toes twinkled, hips shimmied and, in the end, only one man could lay claim to the throne. So, who emerged victorious in this battle for dance...

Shaq's Reality Show More Popular With Viewers than Last Season
Shaquille O'Neal

It's been a big week for the Big Aristotle. Oh, sure, Shaquille O'Neal's last team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, may have fallen apart against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals even faster than his relationship with departing star LeBron James deteriorated. But in a classic "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" moment, Shaq yesterday signed on with the Celtics and now, as proof that living well is the best revenge, it appears his prospects as a television star off the court may be as good as his chances for another ring on the court.

That's because, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the first numbers have come in for the second season premiere of 'Shaq Vs' and the news is good: with a 1.9 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and an overall total of 5.4 million viewers, the episode was up 12 percent over...

TV Ratings: ABC's 'Shaq vs.' can't stand up to 'America's Got Talent'
Fast National ratings for Tuesday, August 3, 2010

5.4 million viewers turned in to watch the premiere of ABC's "Shaq Vs.," in which Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. beat Shaquille O'Neal at... well, Nascar driving. It wasn't the only series premiere. The CW also launched Canadian series "18 to Life" to a weak reception.

NBC came in first with an average of 7.7 million viewers, and a 4.6/8 share, while CBS followed close behind (7.1 million, 4.8/8). In third place was Fox, with an average of 6.4 million (3.7/6). Shaq landed ABC the number four spot (6.3 million, 3.8/6) and The CW trailed with 1.1 million viewers and a 0.8/1 share.

Once again, Fox took the key demographic with a 2.9 share, followed by NBC (2.1), ABC (2.1), CBS (1.2) and The CW (0.4).

Tuesday hour by hour:

8 p.m.

ABC: "Wipeout" (8.8 million, 4.9/9)

CBS: "NCIS" rerun (8.8 million, 5.8/10)

Fox: "Hell's Kitchen" (7.0 million, 4.1/7)

NBC: "Breakthrough With Tony Robbins" (2.7 million, 1.9/3)

Shaq and Awe: The Big Shakespeare on Social Media and The Influence Project
This interview is part of our ongoing series related to The Influence Project.

Shaquille O'Neal is a basketball legend (four-time NBA champion and a 15 time All Star), a multi-media everyman (he raps, he acts, he writes books), and an inspired linguist (during an MTV Cribs episode he revealed a home name nearly as cool as Graceland: Shaqri-La). His creative use of language has earned him the nicknames The Big Aristotle and The Big Shakespeare. Combined with his fame and playful nature, it's no surprise he's found social media to be a natural communication outlet, particularly when addressing his more than 3 million Twitter followers. Just before the season premier of his ABC show Shaq Vs., the man with the Twism tattoo (The World Is Mine) exchanged thoughts on why he encourages his fans to touch him, what it's like to duet with Justin Bieber and why he's participating in The Influence Project.

Shaquille O'Neal To Challenge Justin Bieber, Rachael Ray, More On "Shaq Vs."
LeBron James may be the most talked about NBA player of the moment, but his former teammate has his own plans for the future.

Basketball star Shaquille O'Neal will star in a second season of the ABC reality show "Shaq Vs.," which tests the towering hoopster in areas off the court while competing against other personalities. Shaq will have his work cut out for him, as the second season sees him venturing into other media besides the physical world.

"I'm out to prove that I can compete beyond athletics," O'Neal said in a press release for the show. "I've spent all year sharpening my skills and I want to win. There's no challenge bigger than me."

The first season of "Shaq Vs." involved face-offs against Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, boxer Oscar de la Hoya, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and a volleyball game...

O'Neal's TV Dispute Settled
Shaquille O'Neal
Executives behind basketball ace-turned-reality TV star Shaquille O'Neal's hit show Shaq Vs. have reached a settlement with a disgruntled author who alleged they stole his concept for the programme.

Writer Todd Gallagher filed suit against O'Neal's talent representatives at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment in October, claiming they had agreed to turn his book, Andy Roddick Beat Me with a Frying Pan, into a TV series in 2008.

In court papers, he alleged he was forced out of the project before William Morris bosses decided to go ahead with the idea with O'Neal, another of their clients, instead. The show featured O'Neal competing against other top sporting athletes at their own game.

Gallagher reached out to the company to discuss a settlement over the new TV deal but decided to take legal action and sued for $5 million (£3.3 million) when his demands for a meeting were not met.

The court case has now been dismissed after the two parties reached a deal. The details of the settlement have not been released to the press but is said to be in the six-figures, according to TMZ.com.

Todd's lawyer confirms to the website, "The matter has been amicably resolved."...

Justin Bieber's Next Challenge? Shaquille O'Neal
Throughout his still-young career, Justin Bieber has met and conquered every challenge put before him. Topping the Billboard album chart? Done. Making memorable hit videos? Not a problem. Massive headlining arena tour? Taken care of. Singing for the President? Did that, too. But it's possible that Bieber will meet his greatest match later this summer when he appears on the ABC television show "Shaq Vs.," which pits NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal against other stars in various competitions to see if Shaq can be dominant in arenas outside of basketball.

In the show's first season, which aired last summer, O'Neal challenged Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh and boxer Oscar de la Hoya in competitions specific to their specialties. This time around, Shaq will engage in a competitive eating battle with recent Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest winner Joey Chestnut, race Dale Earnhardt Jr....

No word on what specific event O'Neal and Bieber will face off in. Will the 7' 1" dribbler challenge 5' 4" Bieber to a swoon-off? Bang-growing competition? Perhaps they'll go head-to-head to find out who can pass through a revolving door more gracefully? Shaq Vs: ABC Renews Reality Series for Season Two
The alphabet network has given the go-ahead for a second round of episodes for Shaq Vs.

Shaq Vs follows basketball star Shaquille O'Neal as he competes in other sports against other top athletes. During the first season, he took on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, first baseman Albert Pujols, fighter Oscar de la Hoya, swimmer Michael Phelps, and volleyball champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. Though O'Neal was given a handicap advantage, he lost in all five episodes.

The first season of the reality series ran last summer on ABC to low ratings. It also became the subject of a lawsuit from sportswriter Todd Gallagher over the concept. Still, the network feels the show's worth another try. They've renewed Shaq Vs for a second round of six episodes.

According to producers, the second season won't rely soley on sports matches. There are...

Lego is getting its own reality show... Really
It's official, television is running out of things to turn into reality television. Wait, that means I'll be getting my own reality show soon. What the hell am I complaining about?

Scott Messick, the reality show guru behind Shaq Vs., Pros vs. Joes and Ty Murray's Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge, has purchased the TV rights to make a reality show or reality shows around Lego.

Just imagine the possibilities! For one show, a team of builders would have to build something massive in a certain amount of time in order to win a prize. For another show, another team of builders would have to build something massive in a certain amount of time in order to win another prize. If the show was picked up by Cmt, the team of builders would have to wear cowboy hats the whole time.

Shaq Vs: Sports Writer Sues Over ABC Reality Series
You may have missed it but, during the summer months, ABC ran a reality show called Shaq Vs. The series pits basketball star Shaquille O'Neal against other top athletes in their area of expertise. Competitors include quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, first baseman Albert Pujols, fighter Oscar de la Hoya, and swimmer Michael Phelps. Big names, but the show drew a small audience.

Though it already seems pretty certain that Shaq Vs won't be back for another season, a new lawsuit may help seal the reality show's fate for good.

Earlier this week, sports writer and TV producer Todd Gallagher filed a lawsuit against the William Morris Endeavor agency and Media Rights Capital, the companies behind the show. According to THR, Gallagher says that they stole his idea for the series and he wants $5 million.

O'Neal Show At Centre Of $5 Million Lawsuit
Shaquille O'Neal
Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal is at the centre of a $5 million (£3.5 million) lawsuit over his Shaq Vs. sports show amid accusations the concept was stolen.

Author Todd Gallagher filed suit at Los Angeles' District Court on Tuesday (060ct09) alleging bosses at his talent agency, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, agreed to turn his book, Andy Roddick Beat Me with a Frying Pan, into a TV series last year.

Gallagher claims he was then pushed out of the project, which went ahead with another William Morris client - O'Neal.

The writer's legal team wrote to William Morris executives to discuss a settlement, threatening legal action if the meeting didn't happen before O'Neal's show aired in August.

William Morris bosses refused to negotiate with Gallagher - and he is now suing for $5 million in damages, according to TMZ.com.

Shaq Vs.'s scripted banter lands it in third place, tied with More to Love
Shaq Vs. has an interesting format, but it's too bad ABC and/or the show's producers didn't trust their star enough to let him just interact with people. O'Neal Facing Legal Action Over Sports Show
Shaquille O'Neal
Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal is facing a court battle over his new Shaq Vs. sports show - an author has accused entertainment bosses of stealing his idea.

The iconic athlete is gearing up to launch his latest project on American TV, in which he will take on his rival sporting peers at their own game.

He has set up a swimming battle against Olympic athlete Michael Phelps, a boxing bout against former world champion Oscar De La Hoya and a tennis game with Serena Williams.

But the show is in jeopardy following allegations from author Todd Gallagher, who claims bosses at his talent agency, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, agreed to turn his book, Andy Roddick Beat Me with a Frying Pan, into a TV show last year.

Gallagher alleges he was then cut out of the project which went ahead with another William Morris client - O'Neal.

The writer's legal team have written to executives at William Morris claiming they "intentionally cut him out... creatively and financially" and are requesting a meeting for a possible settlement discussion, according to TMZ.com.

The website reports that Gallagher's lawyers have threatened to file a lawsuit if the meeting doesn't happen before O'Neal's show is aired on 18 August.

Fast History: Michael Phelps’ Eighth Gold Medal in Beijing, 2008
It’s been a rocky—we could even say stoney—year for Michael Phelps, America’s golden boy who last year left Beijing with the most gold medals ever awarded an Olympian in a single games. Riding high after being called the greatest swimmer of all time, Phelps found his way into a very public scandal when photos emerged of the swimmer holding a bong. But America is nothing if not forgiving, especially to its athletes. Not so many months later, the media has forgotten Phelps’ youthful follies and he’s back in the pool. His next big opponent: Shaquille O’Neal. Phelps has agreed to swim against the L.A. Lakers center as part of his new reality television show, Shaq Vs., premiering tomorrow.

Shaquille O'Neal threatens us with Speedo
I've never been a huge Shaquille O'Neal fan when it came to hoops, but I'm rooting for him to learn the finer points of volleyball in a hurry. You see, in his new fall TV show, Shaq Vs., the 7-foot, 1-inch tall, 325 pound NBA star will challenge other professional athletes at their own games. As such, he and a teammate will play Olympic beach volleyball champions Misty May-Treanor (also a Dancing With the Stars alum) and Kerri Walsh in a best-of-three grudge-match. If he loses, he's promised to walk two miles in a Speedo. Not just any Speedo. A pink Speedo...three sizes too small. That's not gonna be good for business. That's not gonna be good for anyone. For his show, O'Neal also plans to face boxer Oscar De La Hoya, Super Bowl quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and swimmer Michael Phelps in their respective sports, and hopefully the only Speedo will be on Phelps.
