Stars: Aarif Rahman, Tony Leung, Christy Chung | Written by Robert Lee, Manfred Wong | Directed by Raymond Yip, Manfred Wong

Review by Baron Fortnightly

“Known as ‘The Little Dragon’ to legions of adoring fans, Bruce Lee is regarded by many as the greatest martial arts legend who ever lived. From his birth on November 27th 1940 to his departure for San Francisco in 1959, discover how Bruce Lee lived through war and persecution and survived the brutal street-gangs of 1950′s Hong Kong before going on to live his dreams.”

Young Bruce Lee is a Hong Kong biopic based on the recollections of Bruce Lee’s siblings, mainly the first-hand experiences of his younger brother Robert Lee, author of the book “Bruce Lee: My Brother”. From the opening credits you can tell this film has high production values, and why not, it’s an incredible look at the world’s most famous martial...

The Varied Face of the Biopic
It seems that every award season cinemas big and small are assaulted by a glut of biopics. Whether they are a retelling of an inspirational personal triumph al a 127 Hours or whether they retell the stories of life’s heroes and characters. Already in the run-in to 2012’s Oscar Ceremony we have already had Phyllida Lloyd’s the iron lady which had a powerhouse of a performance from Meryl Streep, so at least there was some value if everything else was such a cataclysmic misfire. Other recent and forthcoming biopics include J.Edgar and Albert Nobbs. Instead of looking forward to those films, I will use this opportunity to list some examples of biopics that show how varied this mode of storytelling can be, without that reliance of awards baiting coming into view.

Raging Bull

Once upon a time Robert De Niro was one of the best actors in the...

Top 40 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #11-20
Most Anticipated Films of 2012 #11-20

Today I offer my next batch of ten films I am anticipating over the course of this next year as we make our way to my top ten, which I will be publishing tomorrow, but this batch of ten may stand just as good a chance as the tomorrow's ten of offering up some of the year's best films, though there are a few in here that may not be able to hit theaters by year's end. Among the names included in today's ten you have directors such as Chan-wook Park, Andrew Dominik, Wong Kar-Wai, Derek Cianfrance, Joe Wright and a few I'll leave unnamed so as not to spoil the entire list along with actors such as Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Ben Affleck, Sean Penn, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tony Leung, Brad Pitt and Sam Rockwell. Yeah, 2012 has no shortage of big films and big stars to anticipate,...

Butt kicking trailer for Wong Kar Wai's Grandmasters
There's a lot of Martix going on in this butt kicking trailer for Wong Kar Wai's Ip Man movie, Grandmasters. I'm particularly thinking of the scene where Neo takes on a hundred Agent Smith's (and no, it's not because I think all Asian's look alike so stow it).

Yep, this is another film about Ip Man, the famous master who trained Bruce Lee. I know it seems weird to mention The Matrix when Asian films were in fact an influence on it first, but sometimes things double back and I'm wondering if that's going on here.

Of course it also features martial arts choreography by the legendary Yuen Woo-Ping, who also did The Matrix so there's that.

The film stars Tony Leung as Ip Man, Zhang Ziyi, Song Hye-kyo, Chang Chen, Zhao Benshan, Julian Cheun Chi-lam and Mma fighter Cung Le.

You might like: Ip Man (Collector's Edition)...

Early Edition: First Teaser for Wong Kar Wai's 'The Grandmasters,' Joss Whedon's 'Cabin' Gets Release Date
Filed under: Trailers and Clips, Movie News

Wong Kar Wai may be best known to Western cinemagoers for his moody dramas and romances ('Chungking Express,' 'In the Mood for Love,' 'My Blueberry Nights') but the director has also done his share of martial arts and crime sagas, including 'Ashes of Time' and 'Fallen Angels.' His latest actioner, 'The Grandmasters,' is actually a biopic of martial-arts master Ip Man, the man who trained Bruce Lee. The film stars Tony Leung as Ip Man, co-stars Zhang Ziyi, and features martial arts choreography by the legendary Yuen Woo-Ping. The first teaser trailer for the film, which will be released in 2012, has hit the Internet, and it's stunning. Check it out (sans subtitles):

Trailer For Wong Kar-Wai’s The Grandmasters Hits
Everyone in the film world may be focusing on trailers for films like The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers, all of which are, in their own right, quite entertaining and intrigue-building. That said, Wong Kar-Wai has thankfully given the world its first look at his new film, and is making those films look a bit limp.

Vlicious has the first trailer for the film (via The Playlist), and while it’s short on length and light on plot, the trailer is one of the more visually striking pieces of promotional material we’ve seen in quite some time.

The film stars Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, and follows the story of Yip Man, one of the most iconic martial arts masters, even being the man to train Bruce Lee. The clip itself, as mentioned above, doesn’t have the most dense of narrative, but it does look stunning. I...

Donnie Yen in Ip Man (2008)
"The Grandmasters" trailer reunites Wong Kar-wai and Tony Leung
Donnie Yen in Ip Man (2008)
Here's a shocker: the new Wong Kar-wai movie looks absolutely beautiful. What's next? Meryl Streep doing an uncanny impression of a real historical figure? Oh. Oh yeah.

Last December, we brought you the first teaser for Wong's "The Grandmasters," which showed nothing and said nothing about the movie in any language we could understand. Still: Wong, Leung, martial arts movie. We were stoked. This new trailer stokes our levels of stokedness even further with our first real look at footage from the film. Online low-res copy and all, it looks stunning.

The film, Wong's first since 2007's "My Blueberry Nights," stars Tony Leung as Ip Man, the real-life figure famous as the father of Wing Chun kung fu and the martial arts instructor of Bruce Lee. If he sounds familiar, that's because he's a popular figure in Chinese cinema, most recently in a series of films starring Donnie Yen (the second,...

Wong Kar-Wai in Noches púrpura (2007)
‘The Grandmasters’ Teaser Trailer: Wong Kar Wai Returns With His Own Yip Man Bio
Wong Kar-Wai in Noches púrpura (2007)
Here's the first real trailer for Wong Kar Wai's martial arts biopic The Grandmasters. It's a hell of a thing, with Tony Leung as the literal white hat hero facing down a courtyard full of adversaries as rain falls and water splashes in super slo-mo. It looks a bit like Wong Kar Wai shooting the 'burly brawl' from the second Matrix film. (Which itself was obviously a knockoff and amping-up of legions of other martial arts fights.) The trailer is a bit dark, lacks subtitles, and may come off as exciting and beautiful, or murky and confusing, depending on your appetite for this sort of fight scene. Check it out below. In 2008 Wilson Yip's film Ip Man, based on the legendary life of early Wing Chun practitioner and Bruce Lee instructor Yip Man (aka Ip Man) was released with Donnie Yen playing the title role. The movie was...

"The Grand Masters" Teases
The teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's 代宗師 (The Grand Masters), a biopic of sorts about Ip Man, a famous martial arts teacher who taught Bruce Lee among others has arrived renewing interest in the movie. It's been an easy movie to forget about since the gestation period has been so long. (And, yes, there's already been a competitive movie on the same topic that's already opened and closed.) I can't remember when they started filming but you may recall that one of our favorite movie stars on the entire planet, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai broke his arm early on in the production and we sent lustful sympathies. Here he is in training again after recovery.

Several websites are speculating about when this will be finished and open (late 2011 fest circuit? cannes 2012?) but we're guessing not until 2012. Since it reunites the acclaimed and very long-absent director with his longtime muse,...

Everybody's Kung-Fu Fighting in 'The Grandmasters' Teaser
What do you get when you combine director/art house hero Wong Kar-Wai ("Chungking Express," "In the Mood for Love"), his frequent leading man Tony Leung, and the masterful martial arts choreography of Yuen Woo-ping ("Crouching Tiger," "The Matrix")?

We're not precisely sure, but we've got a minute long taste to give us a clue as the teaser trailer for "The Grandmasters" hits the web with a power punch of slow-mo kung fu badassery. The long-gestating biopic of Yip Man, the martial arts legend who trained Bruce Lee, among others, won't be ready to hit theaters until the end of this year at least, and is currently without U.S. distribution.

Luckily awesome rich girl Megan Ellison, who has helped fund challenging fare like Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," has swooped up the U.S. rights and will likely get this puppy into theaters.

As for how it looks,...

Worth Watching: First Trailer for Wong Kar Wai's 'The Grandmasters'
In Martial Arts there is no right or wrong, only the last man standing. Oh yes, Wong Kar Wai making a martial arts film? Bring it on. The Playlist has found the first official teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters, his upcoming martial arts project about Ip Man, the legendary martial arts grand master who trained Bruce Lee, played in this film by Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Not that we haven't seen similar to this before, it's just beautiful fight choreography. Even at barely over a minute it's exhilarating to watch, I can't wait to see more. The cast also includes Zhang Ziyi somewhere in there. Martial arts fans need to catch this! Watch: Breathtaking, Ass-Kicking Teaser Trailer For Wong Kar-Wai's 'The Grandmasters'
While we finally got "The Dark Knight Rises" official teaser trailer earlier today and with spots for "The Avengers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" due this week, it looks like Wong Kar-Wai has come out of nowhere and kicked all kinds of superhero ass. Teaser Trailer For Wong Kar Wai's 'The Grandmasters'
Here's the first live action trailer for Wong Kar-wai's long-term project on Bruce Lee’s master, Ip Man (played by Tony Leung) 'The Grandmasters.' The film also stars Chiu-wai, Zhang Ziyi, Chang Chen, Zhao Benshan, Song Hye-kyo, Xiao Shenyang and Wang Qingxiang.

With martial arts getting more popular in the Thirties, more people seek to learn them via the professionals at Foshan in Southern China. Some of the experienced masters like to challenge their counterparts and undergoing battles. To have their whole concentration, it is their practice to lock up the venues and no one is allowed to leave during battles. No food and no rest before reaching any results.

Ip Man is a young rich man extremely talented in martial arts, but he chooses to keep a low profile. Yet this doesn't keep him out of these troubles ahead. One day he is trapped in this battleground...

Trailer For Wong Kar-Wai's Grandmasters
Donnie Yen in Ip Man (2008)
It's been a long time in production, but Wong Kar-Wai's martial arts epic The Grandmasters is finally inching towards completion and release, with this brief trailer just arriving online. The Grandmasters is a biopic of Ip Man, the famous Wing Chun teacher who trained Bruce Lee, among many others. He's also the subject, obviously enough, of the Ip Man films, but Wong's version, on the evidence of the breathtakingly beautiful clip, will be rather different to Donnie Yen's. We look to be in for some seriously artsy ass-kicking here, although admittedly, with all the rain and the green, we can't help but be reminded of the climactic Smith fight in Matrix Revolutions. The Grandmasters stars Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, and has already done some rounds for potential buyers on the festival circuit. Reports earlier this year predicted it wouldn't be finished until the end of 2011 though (making...

Young Bruce Lee: DVD review
Director: Raymond Yip and Manfred Wong. Review: Adam Wing. Young Bruce Lee takes us back to the early days of a martial arts legend, seen through the eyes of his younger brother Robert. Robert Lee participated in the production of the film, which focuses primarily not on the fighting, but on the Lee family growing up. Produced by Manfred Wong (The Storm Riders) who also co-directed with Raymond Yip, Young Bruce Lee casts Aarif Lee as the legend-to-be. Aarif is no stranger to success either, having taken home the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Performer for his scene-stealing debut in the period drama Echoes of the Rainbow. He is joined by the likes of Tony Leung, Christy Chung, and Jennifer Tse (Nicholas Tse's sister) appearing in her big screen debut. Bruce Lee was still a baby when his famous father, Cantonese opera artist Lee Hoi Chuen (Tony Leung...

Young Bruce Lee Lands on Region 2 DVD and Blu-ray with a New UK Trailer
I always thought that Manfred Wong and Wai Man Yip’s “Bruce Lee, My Brother” (going under the title of “Young Bruce Lee” in the UK) worked better as a coming-of-age drama starring some guy who happened to be named Bruce Lee, instead of being about That Bruce Lee. As a movie that chronicles the early years of the legendary martial artist, the film probably takes more than a little bit of creative license (despite the fact that Bruce Lee’s little brother Robert produced the film, which is also based on Robert’s memoirs on his big bro), and yes, there is a reason why the trailer below only seems to show two action scenes — one in a darkly lit warehouse, and one in a boxing ring. Simply put, that’s pretty much the only two real action scenes in the whole movie. But as a film about a...

Wong Kar Wai’s ‘The Grandmasters’ To See Completion Late This Year
It’s difficult to remain optimistic about a film that’s been in production for as long as Wong Kar Wai‘s The Grandmasters. It started shooting all the way back in the simpler, more innocent time of December 2009, and has somehow remained in production since. Starring Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, the film tells the story of Ip Man, who is best known as the trainer of legendary kung-fu star Bruce Lee. He’s already had two films made about him, and to say that they beat Kar Wai to the punch is kind of an understatement.

Buried in a story over at THR (highlighted by ThePlaylist) is the news that it’s going to be completed in the last quarter of this year. Considering that we’re currently only at March 21st (happy spring!), in addition to the fact that it started filming well over a year ago,...

The Grandmasters finds Us distribution
There hasn’t been much in the way of updates on Wong Kar Wai’s The Grandmasters. The film is essentially just another story on Ip Man, Wing Chun practitioner and teacher of Bruce Lee, but since it’s directed by one of China’s greats, it’s becoming a project of great interest.

THR is reporting that Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Productions is looking to back the film, and “make a significant financial commitment to the movie and its marketing.” Word has it they could partner with Sony Pictures Classics or Fox Searchlight for distribution. The film is still shooting, something of a slow-poke is Wong Kar Wai, but the cast includes Tony Leung, Zhang Ziyi and Chang Chen, with fight choreography is by the “grandmaster of film fights” Yuen Woo-ping.

North American Rights Purchased for Wong Kar Wai’s ‘The Grandmasters’
In news that will surely please Wong Kar Wai’s North American fans, THR tells us that Megan Ellison, the same woman who will help bring us Paul Thomas Anderson’s next two films, is ready to pick up Wai’s upcoming picture The Grandmasters.

That story tells us that one of Hollywood’s newest investors is on the verge of picking up the movie’s North American rights, with her Annapurna Productions beating out bigger studios like The Weinstein Company, Fox Searchlight, Focus Features and Sony Pictures Classics. Ellison and the filmmaker plan to partner up and find a distributor soon, so I wouldn’t be shocked if one of the previously mentioned companies had a hand in bringing it to us.

The film is centered on Ip Man (yes, that Ip Man) who practiced the martial art of Wing Chun and was a teacher to none other than Bruce Lee.

Wong Kar-Wai in Noches púrpura (2007)
North American Rights to Wong Kar Wai’s ‘The Grandmasters’ Land in Good Hands
Wong Kar-Wai in Noches púrpura (2007)
It's a good day for great news. First Criterion makes an incredible deal [1] with Hulu Plus. And now Megan Ellison, the heiress who recently came to the rescue of two Paul Thomas Anderson films (The Master and Inherent Vice) is making a deal to buy North American rights to Wong Kar Wai's new film [2], The Grandmasters. THR [3] says that Ms. Ellison's Annapurna Productions is looking to back the film, and "make a significant financial commitment to the movie and its marketing." The company won't distribute the film, instead seeking to find a distro partner. So while she's competing against some big Us pseudo-indies (Fox Searchlight, Sony Pictures Classics, etc) for the rights, there's a good chance that one of those companies will still have a hand in releasing the film. The Grandmasters is Wong Kar Wai's take on the story of Ip Man, Wing Chun practitioner and teacher of Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010) Movie Review #2
Produced to coincide with the 70th anniversary of his birth, “Bruce Lee, My Brother” is a part-fictionalised biopic of the legendary star, based upon the memoirs of his younger brother Robert Lee, who was himself involved with the writing of the script. The film was directed by Manfred Wong (“The Storm Riders”) and Raymond Yip (“Anna in Kung Fu Land”), and endeavours to tell the story of Lee’s generally less well known early years. Charged with doing justice to the weighty role of one of the most popular and internationally recognisable stars of all time is Aarif Lee, who recently impressed with his award winning turn in “Echoes of the Rainbow”, with a supporting cast that includes Tony Leung Ka Fai, Christy Chung, and Jennifer Tse. Beginning from the very beginning with his birth in San Francisco in 1940, the film follows Bruce Lee, or Phoenix (Aarif Lee) as he was then nicknamed,...

Heiress Megan Ellison Does It Again, Set To Acquire Rights To Wong Kar-Wai's 'The Grandmasters'
Megan Ellison
A mere week ago, the name Megan Ellison wouldn't have even raised an eyebrow among the film community. Now she's pretty much the toast of the town--at least ours anyway. With the billionaire heiress set to save Paul Thomas Anderson's untitled religious drama and his adaptation of "Inherent Vice" among other things, she's now reportedly in final talks to pick up North American rights to Wong Kar-Wai's martial arts epic "The Grandmasters" which stars Tony Leung, Zhang Ziyi and Chang Chen and follows the story of artist Ip Man, best known as the mentor of Bruce Lee. Ellison's Annapurna Productions…...

Special Features: 'Bruce Lee, My Brother' (Chinese Release)
Chinese director Raymond Yip's Bruce Lee, My Brother (2010) is not the high kicking martial arts amalgamation one might expect from the title, but instead takes a sentimental journey from the renowned actor's childhood through to his late teen years, and is adapted from a book written by his younger brother, Robert Lee. Told with intimate detail only a family member could recount, we are shown the untold story of Asia’s most cherished martial artist.

Born to a wealthy mother Grace Ho (Christy Chung), and fathered by the famous Chinese opera performer Lee Hoi Cheun (Tony Leung Ka-fai), Bruce Lee - played here by Aarif Lee - grew up under the name "Phoenix", after his grandmother decided upon a name which would rise out of the fire of war-ravaged Hong Kong.

Constantly in trouble for his confrontational nature and consequently disciplined by his despairing parents, Bruce spent his youth...

Bruce Lee My Brother on English subtitled DVD
Even though it will be arriving in both the U.S and UK later this year, if you fancy catching some Bruce Lee (early years) biopic action now rather than later, then you can pick up the English subtitled Hong Kong disc of Raymond Yip’s Bruce Lee My Brother from next week. Bruce Lee, My Brother provides a rounded portrayal of the man behind the myth with detailed and authentic tales from his childhood and adolescence, complete with anecdotes never revealed before. Born in San Francisco on November 27, 1940, Bruce Lee was still a baby when his father, Cantonese opera artist Lee Hoi Chuen brought his wife Grace Ho and the children back to Hong Kong to stay close to his mother and sister on the eve of the outbreak of WWII. Bruce the little brat starred in his first film, Fung Fung's ‘The Kid’ at the tender age of nine,...

At last a teaser has been released and but isn’t guaranteed to impress any lovers of martial arts movies since it features no footage but just lots of dramatic text.. Filming is still underway and is scheduled to shoot at least for a week or two after Christmas—making it seem unlikely it will be ready for Cannes...

Bruce Lee Movie Approved by 'Pleased' Family
Bruce Lee's family is "very pleased" with a new biopic about the late martial arts star, according to director Raymond Yip. "Bruce Lee, My Brother" tells the life story of the movie legend, who died at the age of 32 in 1973.

It has been put together with the authorization of Lee's relatives, including his siblings Phoebe, Agnes and Robert, who all contributed their memories and personal stories to help filmmaker Yip tell the truth about Lee's early years. And Yip reveals the family is very happy with the final result.

He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "The Lee family supplied us with all the details and the tidbits (sic) of their family life. So we took great care to be loyal to the truth and avoid anything that felt fake, which made it rather difficult for us in terms of creating the structure of the script. But the Lee family was very pleased with the result,...

Lee's Family 'Very Pleased' With Biopic
Tony Ka Fai Leung and Aarif Lee in Li xiao long (2010)
Bruce Lee's family is "very pleased" with a new biopic about the late martial arts star, according to director Raymond Yip.

Bruce Lee, My Brother tells the life story of the movie legend, who died at the age of 32 in 1973.

It has been put together with the authorisation of Lee's relatives, including his siblings Phoebe, Agnes and Robert, who all contributed their memories and personal stories to help filmmaker Yip tell the truth about Lee's early years.

But the Lee family was very pleased with the result, especially with how close it was to what actually happened."

The moviemaker also claims Robert was stunned by how much actor Aarif Rahman, who plays the lead role in the biopic, looks like his late brother.

Yip adds, "(Everybody) including Lee's brother Robert... (was) quite amazed by how much Aarif resembles Bruce. No one can say for sure whether an actor really embodies Bruce's spirit except for his family. So it was a go from then on."

The film is released this month to mark what would have been Lee's 70th birthday on Sunday.

Bruce Lee, My Brother Review
Who wouldn't want to see a biopic about the early life of Bruce Lee? Nearly 40 years after his death, Lee remains not only the most influential screen martial artist of all time, but the world's most famous Asian actor, period. Lee's trademark shriek, yellow jumpsuit & scratched face and torso made him a cultural icon of the 20th Century. His untimely death in 1973 at the age of just 32 only served to add to his mystique. However, while millions of fans have watched and re-watched his five kung-fu movies, quoted them ad infinitum and probably attempted to re-enact a sequence or two, Lee's early life, along with the dozens of films he made as a child & teenager, is considerably less well known. What directors Raymond Yip and Manfred Wong set out to do in their new film, Bruce Lee, My Brother is shed some light on who Bruce Lee was before he became a legend.

English Trailer for Bruce Lee, My Brother Shows off its Fists of Fury
What, there are still things about Bruce Lee’s life that we don’t know about yet? Apparently so, and this new take on the kung fu legend happens to be based on the memoir by Alex Lee, Bruce Lee’s brother, so you expect it to shed some light into the man, the legend, the asskicker that we haven’t known about. Maybe. The film stars Aarif Lee as Lee (no relations — at least, I don’t think there is), and co-stars Tony Leung Ka-Fai and Christy Chung as his parents, with Alex Man, Siu-Fai Cheung and Kar Lok Chin rounding out the cast. “Bruce Lee” (aka “Bruce Lee, My Brother”) purports to tell more of the family life of Bruce Lee, though judging by the English-subtitled trailer, that leaves plenty of room for Bruce Lee to deliver some asskicking to some dudes throughout the movie. They all had it coming,...

Catch A Look At Bruce Lee, My Brother
[Updated with higher quality trailer and official poster art]

Ladies and gentlemen, Bruce Lee is back on the big screen.

Raymond Yip's Bruce Lee, My Brother arrives on screens in November to tell the story of the martial arts icon as recounted by Lee's brother Robert.

Cast as Lee himself - no pressure in filling those shoes, surely - is newcomer Aarif Li who will be judged and judged harshly both for his skills as an actor and as a fighter. So when do we get to see how he stands up to a legend? Right about now.

The full trailer for Bruce Lee, My Brother arrived online a couple days back and though I missed it at the time while in transit home from the Sitges Festival I'm putting that right now. Check it out below.

Wild Bunch at Afm: Grand Master Wong Kar Wai Delivers 'The Grandmasters'
We should be getting tons of new film projects, casting news and first glimpses at some of the projects to watch out for in 2011 with the calendar's last noteworthy film market occurring later this week. The first kernel of excitement via the materials being prepped for the American Film Market is a project, that we last reported, has its toes dipped in 2010 and 2011. Wild Bunch is repping Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters (which works a lot better than "The Grand Master", perhaps because Ip Man helped create Bruce Lee) and the tagline "In Martial Arts There is No Right or Wrong, Only the Last Man Standing" certainly adds to the complexity of the student eventually taking over the place of his teacher. You have the market poster/spread below and above is Zhang Ziyi who takes on the role of Ip Man's wife. You can grab an eyeful of scans from this site.

Official Sales Art For Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters
Yes, Wong Kar Wai's Ip Man biopic has undergone a slight name change from The Grand Master to The Grandmasters. More importantly, it has also received its official sales art, which provides the first look at Tony Leung in character as Bruce Lee's master. Also, a pretty clear indicator that this is going to be a radically different take on the man than that provided by Wilson Yip's Ip Man films, which put him up on an idealistic pedestal, comes with the tagline announcing "In martial arts there is no right or wrong, only the last man standing." Is a bit of footage at the Afm - the market this artwork was prepared for - too much to hope for?...

Class of 2011? Ten High Profile Films Pushed Back to Next Year
With All Good Things and Biutiful confirming their December dates, Tree of Life apparently falling back into this "calender" year and Peter Weir's The Way Back looking at a Telluride opening, there are a batch of films (ten listed below) that are not entirely ready and we are not entirely sure why. IndieWIRE's Peter Knegt gave this low down on some titles that missed Tiff, I decided to give a more complete picture on significant 2010 no-shows that in all appearances should be ready. The BeaverSummit Ent. could easily have taken a summer spot directly after releasing the latest Twilight film on this 2008 Black List topper. Perhaps there were plans for a fall release, and we all know why it didn't make it to market, but it's also entirely possible that once they saw Mel Gibson's co-star Jennifer Lawrence breakout with Winter's Bone, that the extra wait might pull...
