I'm sold
AfricanBro1 June 2022
Okay halfway through the season now and I love this more and more each episode. It's giving me that mushy feeling inside I want all romcoms to give so I don't understand the few people I've heard talking about there's a lack of chemistry between the two main characters, maybe I just love lovey dovey things too much but this show puts a smile on my face. E03 was more emotional than the previous two but not all the way down in the dumps, it still has it's sorta upbeat romcom aura. And it's not only that, I'm not exactly at the edge of my seat about this but it is thrilling to try figuring out how it all ends (haven't read the novel, don't recall the movie) because it's been shown that something really horrible is going to besiege Henry, seemingly mortal but an elderly version of Henry still exists with gray hairs and all so I assume he survives it, or does something happen in his old age. Either way something bad's coming but for now I'm soaking up all the lovey idyllic fantasy love I can from the show until then. Whatever happens in the second half of the season, I'm still going to think of this series fondly. I'm sold.

Now, I was planning on watching the movie after I'm done with the series, but I did that with Snowpiercer and ended up a little disappointed because the show left me with high hopes for the movie; so now I'm afraid the time traveler's wife will leave me feeling the same.

HBO stop subjecting my heart to these rollercoasters

Theo James and Rose Leslie might just be my ship of 2022. I don't care if others can't deal with the format or the time skipping etc. It tugs on your heart strings and constantly keeps you hooked.

Also thank you to this series for introducing me to Theo James('s ass)

A Blow to Us All
gensbill30 May 2022
I am a big fan of the movie and now the show.

I will admit that what transpired in episode 2 was a blow to many of us.

And I'm sure many among the show's biggest fans would relish the opportunity to be a middle-aged, naked man meeting a 6-year-old girl in the forest. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Wait...what? There's tons wrong with that...

Yet, if you can get past the onanism -- I was beside myself when I saw it - this is so far a nice show.

It's romantic and well done. It's sad, yet still hopeful. I'm going to watch it, see if the journey is worth the destination.

Packed wit some emotional punches
AvidWatcher10130 May 2022
Every episode thus far has had me on the edge of my emotional seat. Wow! Strong performances from Rose Leslie and Theo James are at the top of my yes list. I have seen some social media comments saying they don't see any chemistry. I sure do. And what I love about it so much is that it isn't a jump your bones kind of chemistry, but the depth of feeling the two characters have for each other. In this episode Henry was willing to do something far above and beyond for Clare. She herself says "it's not the guy who brings you flowers, it's the guy who is willing to... " I'll stop there to avoid spoilers. Looking forward to Sunday nights for this awesome show. Love it!!!!!

This show ia available to me on Thrusday's and it is a part of my Thursday Trifecta (Strange New Worlds and Orevile being the other two). I hope my boss does not discover the reason I have requested Fridays off for a while is to have a part celebrating watching the shows that entertain me the most week to week.

It keeps getting better and better. This episode was so good I watched it again. The ending gave me so many feels. And it helps that Henry is hot AF. Can't wait for the next episode!

Blood boiling sadness for...

Warning: Spoilers
...Clare, and an estimated one in three women who suffer from sexual assault. And the associated trauma (PTSD), confusion, and deep, lifelong, emotional scar that it can often leave. Rose Leslie did a great job portraying that.

I really wish that parents/society would more effectively teach empathy-challenged boys/everyone not to think of other people (gender, race, orientation, country of origin, etc) as somehow, "less than", or not really human -- so indifference and abuse becomes more 'acceptable'.

:-(

(take a breath)

This episode also dealt with a surprisingly complex and interesting problem of how much to reveal to a child about their future. Especially their relationship status.

Love the show so far, looking forward to the rest of the season.

Just Not Feeling It
rasman4011 June 2022
This episode, and the entire series, creeps along at a glacial pace. Some series can make it work, but this one is tedious to watch. I think Rose Leslie's talents are wasted in this endeavor, particularly in this episode. Having Rose put on a gray wig and squint her eyes DOES NOT make her look 60-ish, 70-ish, or whatever they were shooting for. What, there wasn't enough money in the budget for a makeup department? Overall, it's okay. I'll keep watching, just to see what happens next.

Apparently I'm in the minority?
AWall8822 June 2022
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes, and did not like this one. Old lady Claire ruined any emotional impact it could have had, and prepubescent Claire was forced into what was supposed to be an adult themed episode, that could have really packed an emotional punch if they had let us care a little more. Emotional story does not equal actual emotion. Episode 2 did emotions right.

But I'm a guy... and I know this was written for... not guys. So maybe I'm not the best to judge for this?

And it's now getting progressively worse
Gabriel44168 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First two episodes were just dull. Like using the subject of time travel to create a cheesy romantic story.

Now this episode went farther. Now it was time to address the matter of rape culture and toxic masculinity and create a scene with a stereotypical evil white male being tortured by vengeful victims. All that done in a disgusting, petty sadistic manner.

I thought this show maybe slow and boring but at least not driven by some twisted ideological narrative. Boy was I wrong.
