"Plan 9 from Outer Space" ... The Musical
A_Different_Drummer22 April 2022
One of those movies that is so bad (in terms of script, acting, and overall production values) that it is almost ... good. Behind this Hallmark wannabe we have Cheryl Ladd as Producer. One of her lines of dialog, "I had my time to shine" may be a reference to her breakout role as a fully-binary self-identifying female player in the historic and unenlightened series "Charlies Angels" (1970). Also features a rare film role for reality-series breakout star Darci Lynn who is almost unrecognizable even among the small ensemble cast. This is the portion of the review where you would expect to hear that, whatever failings there are in the story, the music more than compensates? Well no, not really. The tunes are at best lackluster. Also, defying audience expectations, Darci Lynn will disappoint her fan base by never belting one out. On the other hand, Cheryl Ladd unexpectedly does a LOT of singing. It's that kind of film...

Appalling, don't waste your time.
Boristhemoggy23 April 2022
The movie starts with factual errors, then moves on to stilted acting. Then horror of horrors, Cheryl Ladd shows how not to act. I can't believe she is still on screen after all these years.

The dialogue is awful, the story old and tired, the acting appalling and tbh I could not make it right to the end. I felt so sorry for myself I wanted to put myself out of my misery by turning it off so I did.

Darci Lynne Farmer is the only bright spot of the movie I gave it 2 only cos of her. Shame we didn't hear her singing as she is fantastic. I wonder why that decision was made?

Lovely to see Darci making something of herself but apart from that, sheer torture. Give this a miss.

A Cowgirls wrong
munzhee21 May 2022
Acting was very bad, singing was also bad, scrolled from the 15min mark to the end. Gave it 3* ...one for C. Ladd and 2 for Darci, pity she didn't sing.

Why make this movie?
gamecocks1 May 2022
Watched this movie to see Darci Lynn sing....guess what? She didn't. She does have a song on the soundtrack that's excellent however. Most of the acting was absolutely TERRIBLE. I thought surely Diane Ladd would be decent, or at least wouldn't be involved in anything bad...wrong again. She's not good and her fake country accent was even worse. In fact I think most of the actors in this movie were faking their southerness. Can't believe I'm saying this but this movie makes Hallmark movies Oscar worthy. Darci Lynn got the 2 stars...everyone else zero.

cameopropertiesllc27 April 2022
There's not a lot of movies these days I can sit down and watch with my two nieces (ages 3 & 6). This one checks the box for sure! Fun family film with a great message and love the music too! Really cool to see The Imaginaries in the movie too. We are big fans!

If you value your intelligence DO NOT WATCH
sararate-2712523 August 2022
Horrible acting. Loose premise. Storyline keeps layering mini plots one can only guess because the original story line is lacking any creativity. Ridiculous positivity that is so unrealistic.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TINE!!

Delightful, Family-Friendly Tale
timothybblack23 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a delightful story of two creative sisters attempting to get their dad out of jail. The movie moves smoothly from the music by The Imaginaries, a husband-wife team from Chickasha, OK, the town where the movie was filmed. And Cheryl Ladd does a great job as a retired country singer who comes out of retirement to help these sisters (her granddaughters) with a fundraising concert.

So bad
devinhunsaker2 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't waste your time on this Hallmark wannabe movie. The acting is horrible and forced. The faked stage fright, the bad script writing, the horrible overused tropes, I could go on. Worst of all is the kid who plays Rufus. A dad in prison for a car accident? A disabled little sister? The main character with a great talent that's going to save the day with a fundraiser concert? And then allowing a child access to your fundraised money which he then inexplicably gambles away and fake cries about? Oh and don't forget about the newfound friend who has lupus and ends up in a hospital randomly. The screen writers don't even know what lupus is. Overall, this is a poorly written, poorly acted, overly dramatic movie that's not worth your time.

A Fun Family Film
CinemaKing2324 August 2022
This movie gets a few extra points for being filmed in my home state of Oklahoma and starring some of my good friends! This is a fun story with great music and a wonderful message: You can do anything you set your mind to! With hard work and determination you can overcome your fears and do all those things you think you're too afraid to do!

maggiesheamcclure27 April 2022
My family and I loved this movie as well as the music! Would highly recommend for all ages. A feel-good, encouraging film that shows second chances are possible at any stage in life! Positive with subtle hints of faith elements. A+

Family movie night
jenniaguilar22 August 2022
Much like a Hallmark, this movie is a feel good, it has a likeable cast, great music, and a happy ending. It's a true family film. A great mix of veteran actors and breakout stars.

Family Friendly
mjompfm24 August 2022
I found out about this movie from Darcy Lynne's post. I just watched it on Netflix. I loved the music. I liked that the acting was good. A lot of family friendly movies are poorly made due to the low budget, and you can tell. This movie did not have that low budget feel to it.

Great acting performance by Cheryl Ladd who is also measured with a remarkable musical performance.

The film is light, pleasant and fresh. Perfect for a carefree evening.

Feel sorry for the people who rated this bad
aniaga-8789914 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Yes the acting and script could be better. But the feel good of this move makes it all great. Nice to see Darci Lynne in her first movie. Great to see Cheryl Ladd back and to hear The imaginaries was wonderful. Great husband and wife duo. Love their music. Those that dislike this movie really missed what a feel good movie is. For that matter you will probably never like any hallmark movies because that's what they're all about. Most of the feel good movies are corny but so what. And sometimes the acting and scripts are bad. But they make you feel good. This movie has Cheryl Ladd really singing which is not a bad thing. Darci Lynne is also singing for the first time. There is also Amberley Snyder a championship barrel racer who is now paralyzed but still competing, barrel races in the movie. You can feel that Rufus Gibbs is up to no good. Yes he seems like cute nerdy kid, but when he has her sign the contact you feel like something is up. Then when he said the donation are going into the bank you feel as though he's got something going on. This movie a real feel good and tear jerker movie all in one. It's also has teaching moment about gambling and how you can hurt people you love with it. So you should get help with it if you have this problem. The imaginaries actually perform a song which is a big plus.

Good Ending
mirandalsullivan18 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie to see Darci Lynn and like so many others would have liked to have seen her sing more. She's amazing. It was exciting to see her in a role in a movie. I was also excited to see Cheryl Ladd and Amberly Snyder in the movie. It was awesome to see Cheryl sing. I love anything to do with girls, music and horses. I would have to say I was a bit disappointed that some of the acting wasn't more on target in the movie. I think the writing could have been better. It's a feel good movie and I love that...and I love the music. I've seen family reviews for this and I would not necessarily agree with that and I don't think they should have said the one potential boyfriend was stupid when he messed up. Yes, he truly messed up! But no reason to use the word stupid especially if you're trying to appeal to a family audience.

Good, clean, family movie but one little detail pissed me off
zeberdog24 April 2022
This was a very good family movie and I really enjoyed it. The one thing that aggravated me, and it's not just in this movie but also others, is it portraying that people cannot get medical treatment if they have no insurance unless they pay for it. They have to treat patients irregardless, unless it is medical treatment that is an elective, and in this young ladys situation, she would have had a State medical card.

A movie for all ages, winding thru a great soundtrack
claytondudzic5627 September 2022
Timothy Armstrong, Directed all the elements together in a magical way. Cherl Ladd, led this story into a quilt of family, love, and getting up off the dusty ground to begin again. The soundtrack will having you singing along with some stomping fun filled music. These are the kind of films that need to be made more of. Darcy Lynne, performs her talent in singing as well as acting. Savanah Lee May, finds just the right notes in the songs she sings to back up her fanatstic acting skills. This film will inspire anybody going through anything in life even if having to restart the journey again. Wonderful Film.
