Endearing
arod_8520 December 2021
I agree with another reviewer that the actors are what make this show. The storylines have all been done before in other shows and probably have even been done better, but this show is just so endearing. I like every character in their own right. It is "woke" and ignores some complications and conversations that would probably come up in real life, but the show doesn't go overboard about cramming it down your throat and I actually think it is LBTQ friendly, but can still be easily enjoyed by a straight person, because I enjoyed it. I hope for a season 2.

I really wanted to love this
mfonsecamalavasi19 December 2021
I'm halfway through the first episode. The dialogue feels stereotypical (in terms of sexuality-the way the gay character is represented, gender-women's main concern is getting a man and even in its portrayal of Latinx culture). The story is therefore very commonplace except with Latinx characters using Spanish words here and there in a way that will very conveniently be understandable to a mainstream audience (I'm Latina myself). Not on the level of rawness and realness of One Day at a Time, which I was expecting.

As another reviewer said, if this had been sold to me as a Hallmark-type movie with Latinx characters I think I would be much more pleased as my expectations would have been better adjusted.

It reminds me a lot of Mindy Kaling's Four Weddings... in the sense that it's a visually stunning tv show with a very conventionally attractive characters, an extremely conventional plot structure and a weird timing that feels slow and doesn't favor the jokes. Both shows are trying hard to be contemporary but lack any real-world authenticity in the portrayal of the characters.

Again, feel free to watch, expecting a hallmark or abc family (it does have some drama) type of tv show with very pretty people all looking for love. I might even continue watching with that mindset.

Season 2 is cute...
dmbrmb12 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I blazed through Season 1 and loved it. Season 2 drove me a bit more nutty. Lily has got to stop the back and forth and she's not the only one. Santiago has to get a grip also.

I can't stand back and forth, can't make up their minds relationships. This season is all about that. The one person who knows what he wants is Nick! Nick is good for her. Lily is a bit of a flake constantly looking to see what is better on the other side of the grass when she has a really good man at her side and he treats her so well.

Then there's Santiago. No, I don't want to get married, no I don't believe in marriage or anything kind of guy. He's the epitome of a commitment phobic individual who when he finally, and I don't even know if it's so much this as, he just has to have what others have. It's the "if I can't have you, then maybe no one can" from him. He's also constantly back and forth but it's like he's always on the fence ready to run and when he sees Lily with Nick then it sparks the competitive side of "you can't have her". I don't feel Santiago is good for Lily at all esp after this season. He wants nothing that she wants whereas Nick is aligned with her and has the same desires as she does.

I almost came close to not finishing this season due to all the nonstop back and forth of Santiago and Lily not making up their minds. It got to be too much, I was like "enough already!!!"

I really liked Sol as she has come into her own and has a really nice man who tried to protect her when her family gets all over her. She needs to loosen up a bit and realize someone who loves you will protect you and will step in when your family is being an absolute ass to you.

It's just a bit too convenient to have Santiago meet Lily's good friend and set it up like they will date. I don't think so. Move on, move Santiago away from Lily and let her be and stop the nonsense.

I liked it but now I hope they don't go doing the same thing in Season 3 if there is one.

Just what my heart needed
beccarebec20 December 2021
This show is show charming with so many engaging, attractive, endearing actors and characters. Gloria Calderon Kellett may have topped One Day At A Time, which I loved. There is a maturity and sincerity and ease in this show -- obviously a different format. I love this show and everyone involved. And Todd Grinnell just makes me happy.

Life with the Diaz Family.
Avidviewer-0284723 December 2021
Five episodes on the Diaz family as they celebrate the major holidays in one year. Unlike many Latino series it's not set in LA or Miami or NYC, this is set in Portland, OR. Parts of it get soap opera-ish but for the most part the writing and acting are ok.

It's not about drugs or gangs or any of the other Latino stereotypes that are portrayed on TV, it's about a family. I enjoyed the "Baker and the Beauty" more, but tragically ABC didn't renew it. Glad this series is on Netflix, it has a better chance of getting renewed.

Enjoyable series
ronterry5518 December 2021
I am enjoying this Latinx series. Each episode takes place on a holiday throughout a year. We are introduced to the Latin Diaz family through gay son Jorge, Jr and his sister, Lily. They traverse through finding love while surrounded by interwoven stories about their relatives. It is predictable, but fun to watch during this holiday season. Five episodes fly by. It is well acted and I am happy to see gay and trans characters played by out gay and trans actors.

Really Wanted to Like This More
mailman-6569011 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I discovered this around Christmas and was very excited. I really enjoyed the One Day at a Time reboot and I was hoping this would be as enjoyable. I finally finished the 5 episodes after more than a month and unfortunately I didn't love it. My biggest issue is that I didn't really like any of the main family. I found them all to be a bit narcissistic and not really nice to their respective partners. What little conflict that arose was resolved very quickly and of course every single character got an unrealistic happy ending. I guess I was hoping for something a little grittier. This wasn't horrible by any means but I don't necessarily need a second season. Also, I'm probably in the minority but I was really hoping the main character would ultimately end up with her "friend with benefits" instead of the sulking, boring love interest they gave her. The actors had zero chemistry.

FEEL GOOD LOVE WE NEED!
coachstephaniealva20 December 2021
I Love this series and I'm excited to see MORE! It put a smile on face during a season that has been difficult for me since losing my parents. And it's really healing and freeing to see traditions I practice being practiced on TV. THANK YOU!

Portland? Not a chance.
mrskatelouise29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Little to no effort was put into capturing the essence of Portland. This is apparent to viewers when the large, lush palm trees can be seen in the background along with sunny days in February and Californian winery settings (seriously, no wineries have that many outdoor seating options here for obvious reasons). Some of the acting is great, but it's hard to see past the lazy writing. Admittedly, I did laugh out loud when one of the characters was struggling with a move to LA when that is clearly where this was filmed.

The cast is awesome and the writing is great I can actually see myself in the older married couple and it is great to see the struggle they are going through and the whole family dynamics. I just want more episodes.

LOVE!!!
UncleMax1920 December 2021
I love the joy and the family of this series - great cast and a fun story line. I want to spend more time with this family! I particularly enjoy how this series portrays the balance between finding new love - and prioritizing your family. And, great to see so many generations of actors on-screen!

This is a wonderful series to watch! Perfect for the holidays. I binged in one night and enjoyed every episode. Thanks for representing everyone! Your series is "real." This Cuban American princess gives With Love a perfect 10!

Not for me, but definitely for somebody
james-i-hales25 June 2023
Do you like Hallmark movies, but wish they had more diverse minority and LGBTQ representation, was rated R, and was aTV series? Then have I got a show for you!!! This series isn't for me, but neither are most Hallmark movies. Honestly I probably enjoyed this more than most Hallmark movies. This site is fully if current humor, but some of it actually makes me laugh. The score is basically the same 8 measures over and over again and it gets old, like been on-hold for hours old! Like most Hallmark movies, there's no real conflict. Character A is worried character B is growing bored with them, but it turns out they're just nervous because they love them more than they've loved anyone else before!!! It's taxing to watch, but addicting.

So far - so good
linda-2233617 December 2021
While it could be formulaic, the characters, acting, writing all make it feel fresh. It's an adult soap with a Hispanic cast of people I could come to care about.

Didn't watch pass the first episode of season one
dootor2 January 2022
I really wanted to love this but the more I watch, the more it felt like I was moving away from reality! Nothing about this show portrays actuality. Too much meaningless drama and talk about nothing, felt like I was watching a bunch of narcissist talk about themselves. Also, season one, episode one is the worst acting I have ever seen.

Honest and brilliant. With humor in all the right places
bgoo-1989022 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a gay man with no talent. Just opinions

I think the idea of watching a family. The interconnections over a years worth of holidays was brilliant. The cast a diverse group of people. With LBGQT ,str8 and throw in the Latino element and you have a warm and wonderful story.

The portrayal of Gay couple Mark Indelicato as Jorge Diaz Jr. And Vincent Rodriguez III as Henry was a highlight for me. These two guys are very talented. Their chemistry obvious the humorous points in their story arc were very natural.

I am hoping Prime will do a second offering to show how these couples evolve.

Extremely fun, heartwarming and fresh
aylacollins-9600120 December 2021
Definitely a must-watch. It's so entertaining and heartwarming, and I was immediately invested in all of the characters' happiness. The level of inclusivity made me so comfortable and relaxed watching it, thank you to everyone who made this show happen! Well worth your time!

Mediocre at best
brmacd24 December 2021
I don't know what show all the gushing reviewers here saw, but it wasn't the one I saw. I thought the first episode was mediocre: no plot to speak of, too many characters to allow time for any significant development, dialogue trying painfully hard to sound hip and clever and not really succeeding, acting at times embarrassing and awkward. The second episode was even worse.

I give it points for trying to showcase Latino culture and perhaps some for treating gay love as love to be taken seriously, but otherwise this doesn't rise much above bad TV. It was quite clear to me after the second episode that it was going nowhere, and I was unwilling to invest more time. Others seem to have found more to like here than I did. You take your chances.

In Love With Love
rayberny-3067727 December 2021
Another success for Gloria Kellett. She has a fantastic way of depicting the Latin community, so much so that I see myself and my family in this show. She's accurate and sensitive with these characters, who like the rest of us, are navigating relationships. I didn't want it to end as I was so invested in all the characters and their storylines. Binge worthy.

Eye roll drivel
victorcarson19 December 2021
Every stereotype and trope is thrown together into an incoherent mess. And the actors give new meaning to chewing the scenery-the over acting was cringe worthy.

This review coming from a gay man with a high tolerance for holiday rom-coms. Skip this one.

The show we all need
gjw-1782331 December 2021
This is the series we all need. Love. So much anger and hatred today for no reason. This show celebrates life and love across gender, sexual orientation, race, and age! Must watch for the whole family. I hope it gets a second season.

Such a wonderful show - hopefully season 2 is just around the corner with that cliffhanger. While it has any rom-com lover's favorite tropes, it is unlike any TV series I've seen before.

Tedious
lineart-1297323 December 2021
Great potential but you are constantly assaulted with many of the characters self-centered, narcissistic drama. Super uptight family. Not even close to being a comedy when, so far, none of it made me actually laugh. I'm most of the way thru the first episode and calling it quits.
