strange throwback scene
ss-876734 June 2021
I'm not sure who wrote this episode but the look back at Cassie being pregnant does not fit in the story line. Cassie arrived at Grey House. Those characters were not known to one another when Cassie was expecting. She arrived with her children to a town where she did not know anyone. Odd episode.

A fun episode
wjspears4 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If all anyone did was read these reviews, you would assume that this episode was universally panned. When in fact, the rating for this episode is more than 7 out of a possible 10. And later episodes where the relationship actually takes off have even higher ratings than this one.

From my point of view, the storyline between Stephanie and Adam is the much more disturbing one.

Given that Sean is only going to be in a handful of episodes, while Adam will be in the whole season, that suggests to me that Stephanie is getting back together with Adam.

The story arc of a nice guy who makes rash, life changing decisions--and then pulls back from those decisions two months later, hurting two people that care about him in the process--is not a story of a someone who is stable, knows who he is and what he wants to do with his life.

Good Witch has been taken in an entirely new direction that lacks heart and the production value is horrible
SharynSteele1 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite series and sadly, this season is horrendous. Did Hallmark hire new show runners, writers and directors for it who had never watched it before? The people that oversaw this season should all be fired. Where is the magic and charm?! It's like none of the previous seasons existed before this one. Abigail was up to no good and not a successful ad executive in the cheesy flashbacks (which are unnecessary and ridiculous looking-everyone looks too old in them and they're out of place. Storytelling that relies heavily on flashbacks is pathetic.) Anyway, I digress, but having Abigail become an ad executive instead of running her adorable flower shop is also a stupid choice. I thought that the first episode was bad when it was revealed that George knew Laurel Merriwick well and had never told Cassie. This is entirely out of left field and ridiculous.

Good Witch has been taken in an entirely new direction that lacks heart. Also, the production value is horrible compared to years past. Middleton always looked like a place I'd like to live in and was a character itself, but it's not up to par this season. Overall, it doesn't have the charm it always had, isn't engaging and it's hard to care about or connect with the characters this season. I can't believe I had to wait over a year for the series to start up again only to be severely disappointed. Get it together, Hallmark!

Finally!

I am so happy to see Hallmark Channel bring diversity to their programming. I don't know what's in store for Joy and Zoey, but I look forward to the journey. My hope is that Hallmark doesn't buy into the tropes. They now have a loyal viewer of The Good Witch.

Not a Good Direction
spikeluvr19 June 2021
Good Witch is going downhill. They introduce a French teacher who is arrogant without being remotely charming and you just know that Stephanie will fall for him. Nice way to tell women it's ok to fall for an overbearing jerk. Then, after more than a year, Joy is "suddenly" gay. 5.6% of the adult US population identify as LGBT. So I think it's a valid point when reviewers ask why such a large percentage of shows have gay characters. Especially when it's as forced as this is. It's as if they picked her character's name out of a hat and decided she would be "the gay character". Why couldn't they have introduced a new couple that happens to be gay? The entire thing feels forced and "in your face". I don't think it's a coincidence that so many reviews use the exact same words in describing how excited they are about "representation". Looks like someone created a bunch of identities to add a bunch of positive reviews about this development. Good Witch doesn't represent lots of types. Why does it have to?

10/10. It was about time for the network to get on the boat that sails in the right direction where everyone is welcome.

Unfortunate direction for a sweet show
Greta_Garbone10 July 2021
I was very disappointed that Good Witch writers have decided to take this direction. I've been watching it for several years, when it was "The Good Witch" with Chris Potter and the movies. It's not something I will watch again.

I absolutely love this episode! It's high time we got some positive representation in Middleton. I'm so excited to see how it goes on! Love is love, representation matters.

FINALLY!!!
pols_nr1 June 2021
I'm just SO happy to be alive right now. Thank you Hallmark for creating content that resonates with a lot of people, including myself. I wish I had Joy and Zoey growing up but now that I do it's fantastic. Thanks for making it so cute too! :) I hope to see more of them on upcoming seasons! Oh and also... KATHERINE BARRELL. That's it.

The Delivery DELIVERED
queensamidala-6372531 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Such a beautiful episode that showcases that it's OKAY to ask for/accept help or emotional support even when we're too stubborn to want it for ourselves! On top of that, we have met one of Middleton's firefighters! I am beyond happy to see LGBTQ+ representation make its way to not just Good Witch, but Hallmark in general over the last year. I can't wait to see how Joy and Zoey's relationship develops over the course of the season, and am so grateful to the creative team and Kat Barrell & Kyana Teresa for bringing life to these characters and their story!

Disappointing how bad...
que_nena21 November 2021
Wow, did this episode seem forced! Poor choice from the writers, producers, etc. They try too hard to "fit in" with the rest of the world, but can't even keep a storyline straight. At least they mention Grace's character. They've completly ignored Grace's brother, sister-in-law, and sister. Maybe they ought to pay better attention to the original storyline and stop trying to pander to the politically "correct". It was not organic at all. They looked uncomfortable and forced. Not sure I'll continue watching.

Representation and Inclusion for the WIN
huggerbuggs1 June 2021
Big shout out to Hallmark for finally showing the courage to add some diversity to their programming. There is no doubt in my mind that many conversations happened behind the scenes with production staff and cast members of this show with Hallmark to be able to push for this representation and despite the many negative comments and reviews that have been posted since this episode aired, there are just as many NEW Hallmark viewers as a direct result of this decision.

Worst Episode Ever
mjpatterson-2008531 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen every Good Witch movie and episode, at least once. Bad flash backs. Abigail was not a high powered as executive when Cassie was pregnant. She lived Middleton and was a pain in the neck to everyone. The young Grace doesn't even look like Bailee Madison.

Not happy with the direction the Joy character is going in her personal life. The show has always been a sweet show. Don't change the the show now.

Goodbye
Slynky15 October 2021
Not only did this episode deviate from initial seasons with flashbacks that do not coincide with the story as it began in season one but the production has obviously bowed to politically correct inclusion. I hope your newly-acquired viewers will fill the void of those like me who have removed it from their Netflix list.

Grace is coming!
stephgkane19 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
NOT. We get 6 seconds of Bailey Madison (on the phone?!?) during the last 30 seconds of the episode. Seriously? Her name was in the opening credits, so I was excited and believed she was actually going to appear in the episode. Why even bother??! Fail.
