140 years after a devastating civil war, Earth's population is living underground in a silo due to the effects of the war on the atmosphere. In the silo the Sherrif's wife stumbles upon some prohibited information and is sentenced to go outside and die. A few years later her husband voluntarily follows her. The information they uncovered is stored in a 140+ year old hard-drive. The hard-drive lands in the possession of an engineer. In an underground silo complex, several thousand people live under strict rules and Spartan conditions on almost 100 levels. Since a violent uprising several generations ago, the knowledge of why people now live underground and when they can leave the silo again has been lost. Since then, new, strict and restrictive rules have also been introduced to protect the community from new self-destructive uprisings. After her lover, who had begun researching the past in a forbidden manner, is murdered, engineer Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) increasingly doubts the rules.
