Growing up is hard and for fifteen-year-old Timmy Stevens it’s no exception. Scrawny and nerdy, he’s relentlessly tormented by the town bullies. His only escape is his love of horror and the creatures he creates. A chance run-in with his tormentors in a convenience store parking lot on Halloween leaves Timmy brutally beaten. Walking home he stumbles upon a mysterious pumpkin. Despondent from the vicious attack he escapes to his private world and begins carving the pumpkin, wishing for revenge. Unknowingly, Timmy summons the Trickster, an ancient evil, who offers to grant his wish: scare the bullies to death.
I’ll be honest, The Terror of Hallow’s Eve was The film I was anticipating the most at this years Frightfest.

Time for another Frightfest 2017 interview as our host Stuart Wright talks The Terror of Hallow’s Eve director Todd Tucker, about his film which has its World Premiere at the festival on Monday August 28th.
Fifteen-year-old Timmy Stevens is brutally beaten up by High School bullies on Halloween. Yearning for revenge while carving out a pumpkin head, unknowingly he summons up the evil spirit of the hideous Scarecrow. And before long Timmy has unleashed a mighty supernatural force offering to grant his dark desires to scare his hated enemies to death. Be careful what you wish for! From writer/director Todd Tucker (Monster Mutt), special make-up genius behind Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Ouija, Fright Night 2 and Geostorm, a charmingly chilling, affectionately creepy, retro-styled horror for the ages.

One of my most-anticipated from of this years Frightfest offerings is Todd Tucker’s The Terror of Hallow’s Eve which stars Caleb Thomas, Jt Neal, Annie Read, Juliet Landau, Eric Roberts, Doug Jones, Christian Kane, and Sarah Lancaster. Why, you may ask, is a generically titled film, about a wish-granting demon is so high on my must-see list for this years festival? Because Todd Tucker is the man behind one of this decades Best kids movies… Monster Mutt – which is an old-school family film in the most traditional sense: there’s no swearing, no violence and no sex, it really is the epitome of a family movie. Oh and did I mention that it features practical effects thanks to Tucker’s “other” job in SFX?
Given the fact I adored Monster Mutt I have high hopes for The Terror of Hallow’s Eve. Check out the poster and trailer below!

Notable: Bradley Cooper played a similar character, also a Chef, 10 years before, in the TV series Kitchen Confidential (2005).
He’s a rebel cook because he has a bike and a leather jacket, or didn’t you notice? You should watch Jon Favreau’s Chef instead, it wasn’t as insulting to the brain and actually had something to say. This looks like they wanted Bradley Cooper to be a rock star in food porn. No thanks.
Our Brand Is Crisis
Notable: First film Sandra Bullock has produced since All About Steve (2009).
Someone really wants Sandra Bullock to win another Oscar. Billy Bob Thornton, you don’t need to do Bad Santa 2, but do something better than this.

It’s the eve of Halloween and what better way to celebrate than with an unboxing and review of the 2010 or 2011 (depending on sources) classic Monster Mutt!
Ryan and I came across this hidden gem in a bargain store bin last year and decided to film the unboxing so we could share the excitement with all of you. For whatever reason, the footage was left unused and forgotten…until now. If you’re not familiar with unboxing videos, basically someone films themselves opening an item and talks about it. They might do this with one hand so the camera shakes (see any Paul Greengrass movie) or they do it using what we in the business call a “Dutch tilt”, where the camera angle is deliberately slanted to one side, awesome right? Well, we did all of that.
First the trailer and synopsis for Monster Mutt:

Monster Mutt
Stars: Rhiannon Leigh Wryn, Billy Unger, Zack Ward, Brian Stepanek, Juliet Landau | Written by Timothy Dolan | Directed by Todd Tucker
I’ll admit it, ever since I heard that Monster Mutt was being released I’ve been chomping at the bit (pardon the pun) to watch it. Why? Well the film was described to me as a family-friendly 80s throwback featuring a giant dog that was all puppet and no CGI. 80s? No CGI? Sounds like a dream combo to me… And thankfully I wasn’t disappointed.
Monster Mutt tells the story of the Taylor family, more pointedly the two Taylor children Ashley (Wryn) and Zach (Unger) and their beloved, and clever, family pet Max who is kidnapped by the evil Sirus Caldwell (Ward) and subjected to a bizarre experimental injection that sees Max transformed into the eponymous monster mutt. Arnau Bataller’s score to Lovecraft inspired horror sequel La Sombra Prohibida begins as it means to continue; with a furious bombardment of strings, timpani and choral warbling. The music is loud and dynamic with lofty ambitions, presumably to convey the scale of the otherworldly monstrosities in the film. Santiago’s Madness builds more subtly than the Opening Credits, but its crescendo is no less dramatic. Despite some softer moments in tracks such as A Personal Feeling and You’ve Been There Before though, the score is a little too samey throughout its runtime. Its eight minute penultimate track Cthulhu proves to be the most interesting...

Whoa, what a way to start the new year! After several weeks of desolate conditions in terms of horror title releases, the floodgate just burst open.
This is the week you may want to think about using up those giftcards and cash you got from returning your holiday presents. Major releases are vying for your greenbacks alongside re-releases in Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D (in case Santa brought you a 3D TV recently), and other more independent titles. In addition to movies, there's also a Buffy motion comic and the next volume of a vampire's diary in paperback.
The Last Exorcism (Review)
Directed by Daniel Stamm
Starring Patrick Fabian (Interview), Ashley Bell, Louis Herthum, Tony Bentley
When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort,...

It was a little over a year ago when I first brought news of Monster Mutt, a monstrous new family film billing itself as "Beethoven meets Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" about a lovable dog transformed by a mad scientist into an adorably silly looking furry fiend. The late Orson Welles is back in the movie business. A rare recording only recently discovered of the filmmaker narrating a children's Christmas novel is being used as the basis for a film. It is being produced by Drac Studios, best known as a special effects and makeup shop for movies like "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" but now moving into full-fledged production.
Drac is in development on "Christmas Tails," a 3D live-action/CG hybrid movie to be directed by Todd Tucker and narrated by Welles, who died in 1985.
"It's a movie about how Santa's dog saves Christmas, but on one level, this a story about the discovery of Orson's lost tapes," Drac president Harvey Lowry said. "This is a substantial find. It's something that a filmmaker dreams of."
