If you dance, believe in destiny and love wrestling...
hugh-6598919 December 2022
Mario Cantone is fabulous and very funny as Patrick. Carter surprised constantly as you never know what he will say next. This is a movie about finding someone who sees life as you see life not trying to change you. Briana and Tom had great chemistry apart in their journey to find love and we all can relate to the dates gone bad. Briana's warmth shines and individual characters are allowed to shine. Watch out for "psycho girl" who quickly becomes a wedding problem. The dancing was great beginning to end! Oh, and Kurt Angle!!! Joyce DeWitt looked great and was not what you expect from her which was fun. I did not think of Tom as a cat person, I thought a French Bulldog would be more his style!

1 Star H8erz!
gab-6759911 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a good B - movie. Low-budget feel but at the same time I do not think it was below a 6 star. The chemistry between the two leads was cute. I liked the jokes not lol but good!

I do not feel like my time was wasted. I would not mind seeing it again. Definitely a rom/com adult style. More for ppl above 35 yo. I myself enjoyed it and I am sure if you like rom/com's you will love this one.

Heartfelt and I wish I could find an old lady with a can so I can finally get the man of my dreams. Looks like I am stuck being alone another 6 years, that sucks! As always be your own judge and ignore the low reviews!!

And Joyce Dewitt as Nana
Sylviastel26 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I only watched the film because it featured Joyce Dewitt as Nana, grandmother of the bride, in the movie. It's not Jill. Tom Malloy wrote, direct, act, produce and dance as well. For an independent movie, they should have focused on character development. Jack and Jill seem undeveloped to me. Mario Cantone is the film's saving Grace though. Mario plays Patrick, the gay best friend. Like I said, I wouldn't care if Joyce Dewitt wasn't in it. The film plays like a bad hallmark movie or something shown on lifetime. Jack and Jill met Madame Cecile, a local psychic and strange lady who tells people that they meet the love of their lives.

Another vanity project
CinemavenReviews9 October 2022
Another self-produced and distributed vanity film by - yes, really - director, producer, writer, distributor, AND star Tom Malloy. Even seeing two of these credits listed simultaneously is a red flag for some of the most talented names in the industry, and this auteur is clearly not going to be accused of talent. The Tommy Wiseau vibes are thick in this 93-minute mess, a confused mishmash of boring, unfunny clichés desperately pushed through strained paces. One thinks he should perhaps stop trying, and knows that this is another film to miss. Dance fans have many less inept options to choose from. (1/10 stars)

This Is Not A Dance Movie
pereece10 October 2022
Briana Evigan fans may go into this film thinking it's a dance movie. Instead you get a 90 minute episode of Love American Style. The over-the-top humor is so ham-handed it's not even mildly cute. Writer/Director Tom Malloy spends the entire film mugging at the camera. The supporting characters are so unbelievably stupid, they can't be taken seriously. There's a scene featuring Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle that feels as if it's from an Ed Wood horror film. If Siskel and Ebert were still alive, there's no doubt this movie would have been their Dog-Of-The-Week. Nobody should ever give Tom Malloy another penny to make another film.

Juvenile Film
lafbiz22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The film felt like a series of skits written by high school aged males with no experience with relationships or adult behavior that thought, "Let's make a Rom-Com movie." The structure is disjointed having no flow. The roles are shallow caricatures of folk with no substance. I've seen better productions of high school plays than this. It's about a man and a woman who like dancing whose destiny is to meet in a few days and fall in love. In the meantime, they have crappy dates with shallow people with one note personalities that would send any sane person running mixed in with bits of dancing. Sort of like a Rowan & Martin's Laugh In party sketch for the length of the movie. They finally meet at a wedding reception where one wonders why those who wed even bothered. The last few minutes where the two finally meet is the only part that made some sense.p.

It was fun and entertaining. Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this story about two people who keep missing each other from the start of movie. The West Coast Swing dance gave an uplift and energy to the scenes in the film. I found Briana to be very attractive and a talented actress. Tom is a talented dancer and actor as well. I enjoyed the plot as the two kept missing each other, literary walking passed one another from the elevator to Office doors without noticing each other. Other noteworthy characters were a psycho woman who wants to open up Tom, another woman who guzzled down glasses of beers before burping, and then squatting 300 pounds in a weight room, and a gay man who was excessively critical and sarcastic. I wish there was more on screen time spent between Jack and Jill, especially dance scenes that could have been wonderfully entertaining. I really enjoyed this film!

davidrichard-2668415 June 2023
The screenery was beautiful. Tried is some set that show an underwear bead room as well as an under watery dinninf and party area some of the water screen show both fish and algae one of the screen show her looking for interesting object and finding one this an couldn't be miss and it a great one indeed the conflict was exactly has I expected it and like wise common for this premises combine with an ideal of exotic trophical. This is a great one indeed and it all came to my satisfaction. I really enjoyed the movie even every one around me really liked it. The most suitable part is the last screen. Can wait for next.

A travel reporter is challenging to find something new for her and send to this result. As far as s stores what follow is very common to the premises combine wit ly the idea of exotic trophical location. The conflict was exactly the way I wanted like wise the beginning, middle same thing has the conclusion sclintly in the screen presicability. The last part of the movie was disappointed and unsatisfied that throw in some set that show an unwanted and unsatisfied role for the c Actor and actreaa but anyway the movie is really great and a wonderful one Very interesting to watch keep it up Good work.

I had the pleasure of watching "Ask Me to Dance" during my flight, and it turned out to be a delightful and heartwarming movie that beautifully weaved together the themes of dating and dancing. The film follows the enchanting journey of two endearing characters, exploring their quest for love and self-discovery through the magical world of dance.

As the story unfolds, we are introduced to a charming and relatable protagonist who has always been passionate about dancing but is struggling to find a meaningful connection in her love life. Enter the charismatic love interest, a talented dance instructor, whose magnetic charm sparks an unexpected romance that transcends the dance floor.

What sets "Ask Me to Dance" apart is its ability to blend comedic moments with poignant ones, creating a well-rounded narrative that resonates with the audience on various emotional levels. The witty humor and clever dialogues keep the viewers entertained while also allowing them to connect with the characters' vulnerabilities and personal growth.

The film's dance sequences are a visual treat, beautifully choreographed and performed by the talented cast. The artistry of the dance not only adds a layer of elegance to the movie but also serves as a metaphor for the characters' emotional expression and development.

Throughout the film, we witness the protagonists' ups and downs, their hesitations and triumphs, all of which reflect the complexities of modern relationships and the universal desire for genuine connections. The supporting characters add depth to the storyline, creating a vivid ensemble that enhances the overall cinematic experience.

"Ask Me to Dance" delivers a heartwarming message about embracing life's challenges and seizing the opportunity to dance through its ups and downs. It reminds us that love and self-expression go hand in hand, and sometimes, all we need is a little courage to step onto the dance floor and invite someone to join us.

In conclusion, "Ask Me to Dance" is a delightful blend of romance, humor, and dance that leaves a lasting impression. Its charming characters, captivating dance sequences, and touching storyline make it a must-watch film that will leave you with a warm and inspired heart long after the credits roll.

Fabulous
lucashenry-9102515 June 2023
: Ask Me to Dance starts as we meet Jill (Evigan) who has been searching for love before her best friend's wedding. She gets sent on a string of dates that go wrong, despite being told she would find love before the end of the year. Elsewhere, Jack (Malloy) has been going through the same problem, going through disastrous dates too.

As the wedding comes closer, Jill and Jack find themselves almost meeting, leading to them getting frustrated by love. They question whether the fortune-telling was just making things up to make them feel more loved. This is very very awesome, perfect, fantastic and so lovely.

Good movie
godconvenant16 June 2023
Recurring bit where Simon Pegg would half-apologetically remind his chatty friend to hurry up her story: "Skip to the end?" The same urge came to mind while watching the Australian romantic comedy "Long Story Short," which is like a recurring bit at feature length.

It's a what-if story: Teddy (Rafe Spall), a workaholic, gets cursed with previewing how his life will turn out, one year at a time. The fast-forwarding starts after his wedding night. He wakes up to find his wife, Leanne (Zahra Newman), pregnant and their house fully furnished. Baffled, he asks surprised questions and gets surprised responses. Soon he's leaping to another year, and another, and another. The baby becomes a toddler; Leanne's frustrations with Teddy worsen; separation, an old flame, and a robust bearded period for Teddy follow.

A Terrific Rom-Com
varnelltimothy10 October 2022
Went and saw Ask Me To Dance this weekend and we loved it. We were laughing and smiling the whole movie. You can easily put yourself in the co-stars Tom Malloy and Briana Evigan shoes for their struggles and frustration to try and find love. One of the most heartwarming, delightful and funny romantic comedies you will see for a long time. The supporting cast were terrific as everyone has those members in their family or circle of friends and can definitely relate to them. I am not a dancer but I truly loved the dance scenes and could feel the passion when they danced. I highly recommend this movie if you want to go see movie full of love, comedy and romance. If you liked Sleepless in Seattle you will love this movie.

Fun Escape from Reality!
sandydelisle14 October 2022
I went with a group of friends and we all laughed out loud! We often talk about how hard it is to date when you're over 40, and this movie nailed it in a funny and touching way. The speed-dating scene was hysterical. Tom Malloy (Jack) was endearing (OMG his scene with the cat!)and believable as the geeky IT guy looking for love, and Briana Evigan (Jill) was enchanting to watch--I'll definitely be looking for her in other films. I enjoyed the escape from reality and found myself wishing I lived somewhere where all the bar patrons knew how to dance like in the movie. The only reason I didn't give it 10 stars is that I wanted to see Jack and Jill's relationship evolve. In other words--I wish it had been longer!

From the guy that played Kano in this year's Mortal Kombat reboot comes Long Story Short, an Australian romantic comedy that basically takes the third act of Adam Sandler's Click and stretches it to feature length, with the final product about as successful as all of that would imply. Rafe Spall stars as Teddy, the type of guy who never seizes the day and puts everything off until some undetermined "later." In a meet-cute so nauseating that barf bags should be handed out to viewers along with their ticket purchase, Teddy accidentally kisses Leane (Zahra Newman) at a New Year's Eve party, mistaking her for his girlfriend because they are both wearing the same dress, and making Teddy the dumbest man on the planet. Thing is, Leane was unfortunately eating pralines at the time, and Teddy is deathly allergic to nuts, and so viewers are quickly afforded some EpiPen shenanigans to accompany this meeting.
