Great kids TV
timgundry21 April 2022
There are some odd reviews from people who seemed to be expecting a British answer to 'Stranger Things' and who didn't even realise this is a kids programme. To be clear: This was aired on CBBC, it is aimed at pre teens. As a kids programme this is great TV, as can be expected from the BBC, its is designed to educate, inform and entertain.

The ideas may not be original, and the acting may be a little naive, but for my 10 year old programmes which introduce ideas around alien life, time travel. And the nature of reality, are very welcome. This is enjoyable, relatable and thought provoking, infinitely better than most of the typically trite offerings on most of the streaming services.

Fresh, intriguing, suspenseful....watched twice through!
pfitt19 March 2022
Bearing in mind the audience age group that CBBC shows are aimed at, I have to say Silverpoint exceeded our expectations, our whole family was riveted to season 1....twice through! Thank you iplayer!

As a lifelong scifi fan, from an adult point of view I enjoyed this immensely on several levels, storytelling, cast performances, production values, full of suspense, contrasting light and dark moments, intrigue, mystery, twists and turns and left me aching for season 2!

Our 6 and 10 year olds, (both fans of a certain time traveller in a blue box) became so invested in the story we had to drag them away from the tv and limit them to 3 episodes at a time!

We've not enjoyed watching a show so much together as a family in a long time! More please, we gotta know what happens next!

The highest star rating I seem to be able to select is 8 for some reason. Take that as 100% !!!

Pretty good stranger things replacement
emelie23528 March 2022
If you are waiting for a stranger things season 4 to come out this is a really good in-between. I can see it getting better with time and this is made for tweens in mind so yes the writing is not par to ST but it is light enough and suspenseful enough to hold your attention as you wait. I can't wait for the next season.

Dark Lite
ahmedtornado-1395413 March 2022
I can't make reviews but believe me it is one of the most interesting and enjoyable shows ever, it is a mix between Dark and Stranger Things and the ending was mysterious and I loved it as I need more of this.

Basically great for kids, with gaping holes for grownups
tzot23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Well: interesting ideas (unoriginal but very little is original anymore, so it's OK), fairly good effects, the main cast okayish, but with enough of chosen-for-convenience-we-won't-bother-thinking-too-much decisions for the script and peripheral characters; assumably kids overlook such stuff. An example of said convenience shortcut: Meg called her parents to get her off the camp, they're on their way back to the city, but Meg decides to go back so she gets off the car, running towards some trees into the night, with no other people around. One of her parents tells the other: "she'll be OK" and that's it. They are two characters created just to appear as parents, and they went back to oblivion without behaving as parents.

I watched it with my two sons (both over 13 years of age) and we wanted to see where the story goes; we overcame the flaws by keeping ourselves amused over all the -sorry- childishly superficial shortcuts in the script and the characters. Humour (and some sarcasm) helps.

So all in all, watch it with your kids if you have at least one below the age of 12 and enjoy their enjoyment; otherwise, don't expect too much. 5.5 stars, rounded to 6.

Great show for the whole family
sjcunliffe22 March 2022
Really enjoyed this one. We watched it together with the children and all enjoyed the story and amazing acting of the cast, especially the kids.

My children were hooked right from the start and this will really suit children from 5-15.

Cant wait for season 2!

Stranger Brits
jupiterscreen9 June 2022
Kinda has a vibe of a British version of Stranger Things. Just started 3rd episode and it hasn't completely pulled me in. As the episodes seems redundant so far. (Plus, I've been txting my hot neighbor chick through the last two episodes.... Lol)

Don't miss this!
youtuber-5999315 March 2022
This is being streamed on BBC iPlayer. Do not miss this! It is an utterly brilliant piece of writing, scripting, acting and direction. Made for kids, (with elements of young love, growing up, not fitting in) it also appeals to adults. It's quite dark, and scary with a couple of jump scares in the woods. Four lonely children with various problems find themselves at summer camp, where they are thrown together and form a tentative bond. One day they find themselves outside the boundary of the camp, and ignoring danger signs, carry on walking deep into the woods where they encounter something very strange and mysterious. The woods are known to be the place where previous children vanished into thin air. What is the secret of Silverpoint?

OK for Kids?
bosporan20 March 2022
This might be good for children - it was not advertised as such, so I watched the first three episodes. Derivative and uninspiring, a poor man's Stranger Things. If ST is what they are aiming for it falls far short.

Hooked from the first episode!!
hylywatt16 March 2022
Fantastic storyline with lots of twists and turns. I normally congratulate myself on guessing plots but there were several bits I just did not see coming!! Very cleverly written - the writer has such a great imagination. Great acting by the young cast and I've already binge watched the whole series on BBC iplayer. Series 2 can't come quick enough!!!

Bunch of anoying kids they are, one in particular, unlikeable for bunch of reasons. This is very far from stranger things. If you really dont have anything to watch - go for it.

Brilliant series!!!
AnnikaMathur21 March 2022
Harry Potter meets Jumanji meets Sci-fi meets adventure - this is a very well directed, well cast and well written show.

Characters drawn out so welll, and every little story line is followed to make for a grand ending.

Really enjoyed with whole family, a refreshing clean show. Watch on BBC Iplayer.

Stranger Things alike but different
mateioanamaria15 March 2022
I thought this series was made for kids, but I am 35 and still liked it a lot. Got hooked from the first episode. Made me curious about what will happen. A love a good sci-fi mystery. Too bad the episodes are short, waiting for more..

Nah. Interesting story and to be honest I watched the whole thing but...
brettyjr21 August 2022
CRINGE! The children are completely stupid. It's every cliché in the book they're constantly getting separated, and doing stupid stuff. It's so frustrating trying to watch this kind of stuff when the story is good, but the writers clearly have no idea how children actually act. That being said, I did watch the whole thing, and I normally only make it a couple episodes into most shows. Yes it's kind of like dark, except that this is meant for children, not for adults.

Edit.: as I'm writing this review, the one character is being stupider than I can ever even imagine... not giving a hoot about the other people safety In a cliche way... Sigh. Making this two stars instead of three.

Cant wait for season 2!
aadamhussain22 March 2022
Watched this with my wife and boys, we were all gripped from start to finish - very well written and different to normal kids programmes. Best kids programme we have watched for a long time (but interesting for adults too) and very much looking forward to a second season.

This is junk .. nothing like Stranger Things
brucethomson-4787217 March 2022
Weird to see high reviews here. This is extremely slow, unlikeable pre-teens, nothing happening by episode 3. I won't be watching any more. I guess a 10-year-old might like it.

Great to watch with the Kids
jdbridge-9822325 March 2022
If you're looking for something that you can watch with the kids but is still interesting for you SP is perfect. Genuinely interesting story line and the acting is really good compared to some things for this target audience! Highly recommend.

Nothing new
jaluca-5991110 June 2022
This show is unoriginal at best. It has elements from Stargate, Night Sky, Lost, Stranger Things, Under the Dome, and The Signal. I also disagree that it is appropriate for adults. It's pretty childish.

This is nothing like "Stranger Things" - because its BETTER!
starsmoon222 March 2022
I was caught in the "silvery" web of mystery by the end of the 2nd episode. Congratulations to the writers for portraying REAL "tweens" and teenagers who, while often selfish, moody, and reluctant to reveal their true personalities, unknowingly form strong bonds of camaraderie. Superb story that never stops challenging your perception of reality. Definitely excited for a swift season 2 renewal.

Fantastic - definitely worth watching again and again!
schofio22 April 2022
I really enjoyed this series. The story line was engaging throughout and the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. The final episode twist was perfect and left me wanting more - hopefully a second series!!

The actors were fantastic, both the young and the old.

Congratulations to all involved in this project, you absolutely nailed it.
